Thanks for the video. I bought a 2013 sorento sx yesterday and never checked to fuel door until I left the dealer. Drove right back to the dealer and was told the "moter" was bad and they would send a new one to me and 100 dollars for someone to replace it. For all your hard work, I doubt you would charge 100 bucks for your labor. I'll do it for 100 though now that I've watched your video! Thanks!
I just fixed my 2011 with the same problem. But I took the switch apart and the contact points inside the switch had some corrosion. I just scraped the points to wires inside and the brass point plate clean and it now fully works.
Yea I thought about doing that but I damaged the plastic housing too much trying to get the button out.. Did u take it out first and then put it back in or did u do it without removing it?
Hey Bobby that's what I want to do - got the button assembly out of the door and confirmed by shorting that it is just the button. But... how did you get that stubborn little button assembly open to get to the contacts to sand?
With the bad button was it repeatedly burning fuses? Another good point is that there is a mechanical release of the fuel door in the back left inside the vehicle behind a small panel.
No it wasn't burning fuses. The button stopped working because there was corrosion inside of it. And I was getting tired of using that mechanical release!
I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning, but there’s two little angle pieces on that plunger and if you pop the set open, you’ll see the two connectors that come from the wire and then a brass plate and all you have to do is actually just use some 120 grit or a very small bristle brush and send the contacts reassemble the whole shebang plug it into the connector on the door and before you reassemble the door give it the plunger a couple of pushes and it should work like gangbusters without having to shell out any more money

Yea in hindsight that's what I should have done too.
I took my button apart and lightly sanded the contacts. Put it all back together and woken perfectly

I cleaned the switch a couple of times but it was really loose. Had to push it just right. So, for $10 replaced it and solved.

Yea as long as if you can get it out without damaging it thats a good way to do it.
You didn’t need to replace the switch you could have just cleaned it
