Great Review! I purchased my NOVA on Amazon and noticed that it had been out of stock for a while. Now, it's back in stock. I recommend everyone to buy NOVA if you have some extra money because it saved me a lot of time cleaning dirty records. I can directly choose auto mode with 3/5/10 minutes of cleaning + 3 minutes of drying. It is quieter, faster and provides better cleaning results compared to the Original.
great review , I have the first HumminGuru it works great for me. , might try HumminGuru I-Brush Cleaning Kit looks interesting but always clean my real dirty records before I clean the machine.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’m glad the HG01 is working well for you, it’s a great machine! The I-brush is a fairly inexpensive brush that’s effective. It’s become my default pre-cleaning tool, especially for those really dirty records.
I “wash” first in my SpinClean using a 50/50 mix of distilled water and Simple Green, spray rinse, and wipe with microfiber. Then a deep cycle on the HumminGuru Nova. (works great on the really dirty vintage). A new purchase gets the Nova clean only. “It sounds like bacon smells”, Bonnie Raitt described her vintage 1965 Stratocaster.
Nice review, Louis. If your wife's anything like mine, she's given up trying to make me remember things like toiletries😂 but taking your record cleaner with you now that is dedication I love it😅 Keep up the great work, mate. I love the content.🎧👌👍
I’ve just purchased one direct from HG to the UK no probs. I did notice a few opaque bubbles on the record whilst cleaning which pleased me that it was doing its thing but noticed they stayed there as it rotated. This made me wonder if they would dry back onto the record but visually I can’t see this. I did read about some people liking to always rinse after cleaning and thought I could use my previous Knosti DAS machine for that, when someone said about purchasing a second tank for just a distilled water rinse 👍. I’ve purchased a spare and might use it if I can’t sleep at night 🙂.
Thanks for sharing your experience! 🙌 I’ve heard others mentioned a second tank as well. I never seen the need really, but would be worth exploring. I’ll be curious about your results if you end up trying it.
Great question! Echoing HumminGuru, they only advise their product. However, when the HG01 first launched, they recommended G-Sonic by GrooveWasher. Many users of both HG models still use and prefer G-Sonic. (amzn.to/4esq4gl) Personally, I started with The Small Bottle and haven't had an issue that's warranted me to explore alternative options. With that said, I am a huge fan of GooveWasher's products in general and may consider G-Sonic when my Small Bottle runs out.
Here on 11/17/24 the NOVA on Amazon is $799. while on the Hong Kong website it is $700 not including shipping. I'm wondering if they just jacked up the price and then might drop it down for Black Friday.
@@VinylLatte Although I have ordered some things from China before I'm much more comfortable with Amazon with their return policy. Hopefully the price will drop but if not i guess I will just bite the bullet and get it anyway. Thank you.
Last year I bought the older version and love it Working very well so I can’t see any reason to buy this newer version The machine does dry well but sometimes does leave a few wet spots on the vinyl That’s the only complaint I have but other than that it works great
Thanks for sharing! The HG01 is a solid machine. If you already have the HG01 with all the adapters, the Nova is a little tougher to justify. I personally like that I don’t need to hunt for adapters, and both my wife and I appreciate that it’s quieter. Anyway, I hope you continue to get great use out of the HG01. In my humble opinion, you can’t go wrong with either unit. 🙌
Ok...I just re-read the manual and didn't see anything about the 'adjustable' wheels. A how-to is in order? I've done about 200 new and old and could not be happier with the results. 👍👍
Sorry for the lack of clarity! Using the maintenance tool, slowly adjust the setting like you would by switching record sizes. A slight nudge towards the 10 inch record will pull in the wheel enough to snag the record. Hope this helps!
oddly enough this guys attempts at injecting personality struck me as condescending. perhaps I couldn't get past his dismissal of technical details as unimportant. to me the technical details would define the ultrasonic capabilities of the design and allow an easier comparison against other designs
Is this a review or an advertisement? It feels like one of them tv sales shows. Or someone spruking a product at a shopping centre. There is no real testing, or any actual technical information, just the sales blurb?
This machine is interesting. I bought one but have been using the Kirmuss for several years. Tried others too. I gotta say. The humminguru doesn’t seem to do anywhere near as good as the kirmuss machine. I accidentally dropped a record on my carpet. Very dusty. I put it in the humminguru. It didn’t clean anything off. Like nothing. The humminguru “no touch” process means we are just relying upon the ultrasonic. I think this just an expensive spin clean. That cleaning fluid they provide is just a “dawn” dishsoap it creates all sorts of bubbles. Oh btw that stuff just dries on record. I really want to like the humminguru but if you actually used good machines you would see this is like a faux cleaning machine. This machine appears to be a great “cleaning” machine. But I doubt it’s really cleaning much of anything. Oh btw, there are adapters on this silly thing. That thing you have to put way down in the bottom to validate depth of the water. Oh btw, Why don’t they mark on the water canister for 10”. You have to use that wonky tool to get the water level. When it dries it blows dust back onto the record. This machine is just cheap import stuff. Sure it looks great and easy. But in truth it doesn’t really do much. Don’t waste your time or money. Just get a Kirmuss or degritter. Humminguru put together a slick product but I am not convinced it is doing much of anything. It’s just an expensive water bath. Skeptical of anything designed and built in China. This machine is just a cheap knockoff of a real machine. I may be able to use it as a “clean rinse” from the kirmuss but $800? Hmm…probably not. This company just created a cheap knockoff of the degritter. There is a reason a good machine is $1k+. This thing is just wimpy
@@barrykrakovsky756 to see if it could compete. The kirmuss is more labor so I am always looking for a way to reduce labor as the humminguru looked easier and one step
Thanks for sharing your prospective. The Kirmuss is a very interesting machine, but at nearly $500 more than the most pricey HumminGuru, I feel it’s in a different class. Same with the Degritter, with its $3.3k starting point. As mentioned in the video, I’ve cleaned a lot of records with both the HG01 and NOVA. I haven’t had an issue where the machine was ineffective. Sounds like you’ve had, which is unfortunate. At least it seems you you’ve landed on something that works for you. Thanks again for sharing your experience.

In Slavic languages, NOVA mašina = A NEW machine.

I have the Nova coming to me very soon, but was wondering, can you use any other cleaning solution other than the humminguru stuff?

Well, that's unfortunate. Hopefully the AMZ price comes back down. If it helps, I ordered mine directly through the HG website.

Cool review, still debating whether to get it. I guess it certainly beats using wood glue 😂. I’ll prolly buy it sometime by the end of the year

I use their surfactant with my HG and have never seen a drop of water after a cleaning.
