What a wonderful drive down memory lane, especially through the (Fort McHenry tunnel) and your right FreewayJim, it is a blast! driving I-95 was the start of my love for the interstate driving experience. Great Video JIm!!!
@GigaElectricBird Yeah from 51-55 looks about 30-40 feet from the ground over the water, not sure about 56-59 it varies, could be from 30 to 60 feet in places.
i played this video to Pandora today's Radio and was the best fun I had in a while i have driven thi s route without the turn around and still the best way to DC
@GigaElectricBird About 5-7 miles and it was to have merged with I-95, there are stub ramps still visible where this was to happen around Exit 51, there are maps of the proposed route on the roads tot he future .com website.
Great video. I know that stretch of 95 really well. Interesting that earlier plans for this crossing of Baltimore Harbor called for a suspension bridge and not a tunnel.
The Fort McHenry Tunnel IS Awesome to drive through - and I've done it in both directions. Still want to get the Big Dig Tunnel Collection (Boston, MA) though.
Sorry but I forgot to mention that I do appreciate the thought and I did play around with your suggestion, I just did not like the grey-green combo, but I did like yellow on grey so I might use that at some point. I will agree that the purple may not look as good as some other colors, I think Green works the best but I try to change up the colors for each video.
There is also a Philips Restaurant in Harborplace itself. Despite Power Plant Live and ESPNZONE both shuttering (both were WAY before Covid-19), there are still many fantastic places to eat there.
I wonder how many people realize that there was supposed to be a bypass on Moravia Road from the I-95 exit to connect with I-695 between MD-702 and MD-150/Eastern Blvd. at that sharp turn near Chesaco Avenue. That's why there's no exit 37 on I-695, because that was to be exit 37. That's also why the sign on the off ramp has a blank green sign on it, because that sign was to point travelers to go east on Moravia Road toward I-695. That bypass was not only going to connect Moravia Road to I-695, but also extend that part of the beltway north from the MD-702 interchange to about Chase, while the beltway went north toward I-95, hence the elaborate interchange and wide median at MD-702. Just one of a few connections not made regarding I-95 between the two connections to I-695 (exits 49 and 64), not to mention a lack of interchanges past the Rosedale Interchange.
Great Video. I'd like to suggest you make the comments and location banner at the bottom in colors which blend in better. How about medium grey for the background and green for the letters.
Makes me curious why New York City is the control city for 95 north instead of Philadelphia... (Aside from a layover at JFK airport in NYC, I have never been in Northeast)
It is because most traffic uses I-295 to the New Jersey Turnpike and bypasses Wilmington/Philadelphia, but you're right, Philadelphia or Wilmington should be the control!
You are correct on that, but what if once the flyover ramps at the 95/PA Turnpike interchange is complete next year, it will cause traffic to divert onto 95 through Philly.
My only theory is because of the I-95 gap. I-95 isn’t complete from Philly to NYC because of the gap north of Trenton. But with the PA Turnpike/95 interchange, 95 will be complete. So hopefully the signage will change
I don't want the text banners to blend in better, I want them to stand out so people can read it and I don't think Med grey and green letters would look good at all. Any mid to dark color with white lettering works fine, I used the purple band as it is the Baltimore Ravens primary color.
Now, that's a $3 toll... still worlds cheaper than any of those toll bridges/tunnels linking NY and NJ, as well as the toll passageways in the 5 boroughs.
Im a tractor trailer driver, i just payed $48 for the toll. This is the last time im coming to the east cost. You will losse more then what you will gain.

Thank you James!
Everytime I drive back home to NYC. Through VA, I always play "The O'Jays" I love Music. Glad to see you did as well.=)!
This Lamb is amazed at the changes between I-895 and I-695 between then and now.
Great job!! Loved it......and the music.
Thank you very much!
That's one of my favorite songs and I think it ideal for these types of video.
@GigaElectricBird Yeah from 51-55 looks about 30-40 feet from the ground over the water, not sure about 56-59 it varies, could be from 30 to 60 feet in places.
I love interstate 95
@59525354: Yes, I-664 to I-64 in the Hampton Roads area.
Cool! stay tuned I was just in Baltimore last weekend and will have some videos from there coming up.
Yes it is, and it works well every time. Plan on hearing it again next year :)
Cool video
Thanks

Hi the odessa and bordenville, red mill and cape ann highway!
i played this video to Pandora today's Radio and was the best fun I had in a while i have driven thi s route without the turn around and still the best way to DC
God I LOVE that song keep it up 5*
@GigaElectricBird About 5-7 miles and it was to have merged with I-95, there are stub ramps still visible where this was to happen around Exit 51, there are maps of the proposed route on the roads tot he future .com website.
That makes perfect sense.
Great video. I know that stretch of 95 really well. Interesting that earlier plans for this crossing of Baltimore Harbor called for a suspension bridge and not a tunnel.
RAVENS NATION!!! RAVENS FLOCK!!!😈💜
Awesomeness! :-)
The Fort McHenry Tunnel IS Awesome to drive through - and I've done it in both directions. Still want to get the Big Dig Tunnel Collection (Boston, MA) though.
I've used the song before, yes and there should be a couple of other Baltimore videos in my collection as well.
Sorry but I forgot to mention that I do appreciate the thought and I did play around with your suggestion, I just did not like the grey-green combo, but I did like yellow on grey so I might use that at some point.

The Benelux Tunnel in Rotterdam, the Netherlands has 10 lanes and passes under the port of Rotterdam. It's a little shorter though.
They have a Phillips Express now, gotta love Crab Cakes.
There is also a Philips Restaurant in Harborplace itself. Despite Power Plant Live and ESPNZONE both shuttering (both were WAY before Covid-19), there are still many fantastic places to eat there.
Some parts of 95 in baltimore past the tunnel have been widened to 4 lanes each direction
i95 and Katy Freeway(i10) are my favorite freeways.
@JustinDTran Also, you can't take 95 directly from Philadelphia to New York City, something that may play an issue.
The I-95/I-695 stack used to be more nightmarish - both Interstates used to switch sides through the interchange.

I was in the BWI area recently, I got to know I-195 quite well. Surprisingly, you can go about 3-4 miles outside of BWI and you're in a small town.
It takes a while for RUclips to fully process the video, see green bar above.
@GigaElectricBird at what particular spot? across the inner branch of the harbor I'm guessing about 40 feet.
We ate lunch at Al's Seafood in Essex, it was good too.
You would think, or at the very least Wilmington.
Makes me curious why New York City is the control city for 95 north instead of Philadelphia... (Aside from a layover at JFK airport in NYC, I have never been in Northeast)

You are correct on that, but what if once the flyover ramps at the 95/PA Turnpike interchange is complete next year, it will cause traffic to divert onto 95 through Philly.
They will most likely still use I-295 to the Turnpike as it avoids the traffic in Philadelphia and Wilmington and presumably is quicker.

I don't know, a lot of people are saying that folks will continue going the 295/Turnpike way after the ramps open.
@8HighlyFavored: Love that song!

@GigaElectricBird Anytime :)
Baltimore MD my hometown. where did you go for lunch?
Now, that's a $3 toll... still worlds cheaper than any of those toll bridges/tunnels linking NY and NJ, as well as the toll passageways in the 5 boroughs.
Have you been through this since the Express Toll Lanes and new Interchange were finished? Great video, nice to see how things used to be.
Thank you, the last time I went through there was 2014.
is there another video with this music?
If you keep taking 95 N, would you mind stopping at Maryland House and get me something from Roy Rogers? LOL.
