What if you froze a super full of honey been in freezer for 2 years (received from a friend.) should I be worried I’m uncapping and extracting this weekend. What should I do???! Do I need to worry about moisture???I have the equipment for this. Is moisture going to be a issue?

What are some of your recommendations on books by the way? I’d like to build up my cross reference library! I like having the books on hand in case I can’t access these videos.

Watching and trying to build up colony as got hit by bear's got hives rebuilt and put back together and headed to town for electric fence when got back home they hit me again and licked and destroyed all frames. So looking for advise to build up honey so they have for winter food supply. Appears brood frames in both hives intact. Do I have enough time to build back up and honey storage for hive to survive winter in Minnesota?

Hi Kamon, First year Beekeeper and I made a split 4 weeks ago. The bees have doubled in the split but I do not see any resources in the hive, It's August here in Michigan and my mentor says to be careful about feeding this late he is worried about robbing. I think the bees need feeding he is against it What should I do ?

You cam feed now but you should avoid any essential oils, just 1 to 1 sugar. You can use pails on top like Greg Burns or Ian. Some use a big tub with holes on the sides and they put boards and straws on top to avoid drowning. Keep it several hundred feet away if you can. This is just my best guess. I've done this and didn't have any problems.

Kamon, I just wanted to add a little bit to Ali who lost 10 queens. Ali, when you took the queens from the nucs, did you take workers from each nuc as you took the queen out. If you take the queen out of one nuc and put workers in the queen cage from a different nuc they are liable to kill the queen as they are unfamiliar with her. Were all of your queens mated? When you put a free virgin queen that has had the opportunity to go through or is still in the process of the mating ritual, in with worker bees, the workers will kill her every time. Were the queens you took from the nucs laying? If they were not laying, you could lose them caged with workers. These days it is popular for queen producers to put only the queen in the cage. This is because if one of the queens is still in mating stage, the workers won't kill her. The workers can still feed through the screen but it is difficult for them to sting through the screen. You asked Kamon to tell you the most common thing to kill queens. I do not know what has happened to him. However, the major killer of queens taken from the nuc ime is lack of attendants and food. You should always put a minimum of six worker attendants in those little wooden boxes. A fewer number will put a queen demanding food without! Hint: When you take your queens, virgin or mated, especially mated queens, from the nuc you should always spritz them with a very light, very light mint spray. This will make the box and bees smell alike. Another thing, carry a little packet of pasteurized honey and put a drop on the screen.

Do you think that HFCS is safe to feed the bees.?

@Kamon, when you talk to Cory Steven's, ask him how the Pol-line 2.2 and his high tested VSH genetics cross turned put, I know he's a busy guy and doesn't answer hobbyist people questions, but l'd been asking this for about a year and your a customer and talk to him frequently. I'm in middle GA 45 miles south of the fall-line where the cotton flow is just coming in the goldenrod isn't blooming here yet. I like my double deeps to weigh 175# total weight and double deep 5 over 5 nuks to weigh 85#, plus for my bees, I pull and freeze around 200# of deep frames capped honey to thaw and give any hives that use more in spring buildup early, making splits a head start.
