Nice review and nicely executed homage to the Luftwaffe b-uhren, type B, "Observer/Navigator" watch. An interesting historical note: these were issued to Luftwaffe bomber navigators just before a mission and had to be returned to their Supply upon return from the mission. They were not kept or issued as personal everyday timepieces; they were strictly mission tools. Relatively few were produced, and thankfully (for the Allies, anyway) many ended up in scrap heaps in the Atlantic and over European countryside! :)
I have the 47mm - That size works for me, as I have a 8½" wrist. I also use a NATO strap during the summer months.... Been wearing daily for nearly 18 months now and there's still barely a mark on the case or crystal.
i consider buying the laco this watch is based on, because i don't want another homage watch (already got two steinharts). however the laco with a simular movement to this one COSTS DOUBLE, so i'm kinda torn. if i choose a 300-400 € version of the laco, i get some crap movement based on a cheap miyota. you kinda buy flieger watches with this look for the heritage as well and steinhart doesn't have this. help me out xD great review btw
wow, that looks almost identical to the Laco pilots. This is probably a really stupid question but how would you use this to calculate speed, distance, and time like you would on the pilot watches with circular slide rule? Or is it not possible?
I am curious about the following: Swiss Made means that this watch is assembled in Switzwerland, the parts are Swiss, or the movement is Swiss? I think this should be pointed out in reviews... Thanx!
This is huge for my wrist! Does anyone make a watch with this style dial markings (5-10-15-20-25...), exhibition back, domed sapphire...and under 44mm?
Not really, the original watches from the 1930s-40s were 50mm! They used pocket watch movements at the time to get the size they wanted. I have this very watch and it wears very comfortably with the curved lugs and thick strap.
@@mgymgh So you tell us that we all will be Pilots and we will be at the war so we should buy oversized 44-55mm dinner plates for daily use on our wrists? Idiot...

even when Laco was original, Steinhart is a match to it and really perfect bargain
Four of the 5 original pilot watch makers names were pronounced incorrectly. Kudos for pronouncing I.W.C. correctly.

great review btw
Such an awesome timepiece. If they offered this in a 42 they would sell 3x as many of them
Hey man, great review.. I'm surprised you haven't had more comments. One of the best watch reviews I've seen. Thanks for posting.
Great review. Such a pity it's 44 mm. It's just too large for my wrist. I'm going to go for the 40 mm Stowa, which is, sadly, almost twice the price.
Go with laco. Same price, same style and slightly smaller at 42mm

Yes, you mentioned it was a faithful recreation.
I really like how they lumed it
The case has a screw back. What is the water resistance stated for this model?
+Nightwatchman247365 a wopping 5m. one of the main reasons i won't buy a steinhart is their lack of water resistance.
fuckinmetal1982 The Nav B Uhr II is a pilots watch. Not meant for diving.
+fuckinmetal1982 They have 300m divers...

Seems all "Swiss Made" watches keep this kind of secret, most are somewhat Swiss, it's kind of a industry standard.
Are the hands thermally blued?
How big is your wrist? Width and circuit in cm
Where can one purchase this brand of watches in the US?
is the watch still for sale?
Really nice watch. An onion crown would make it even nicer.
The 47mm has an onion crown

Stowa do 40mm, i just ordered one. Expensive though but very good quality from the reviews
Orient does some nice pieces with this dial.
Laco do a 36mm and a 42mm
Great watch
This shows wound movement with smooth second movement, Steinhart site says this is second sweep!
very nice!
Is pronouning : Shtova!
That is huge.

Laco Aachen Type B Dial Automatic Pilot Watch 42mm in house automatic $370 US
steinhart
silkhead44 Definitely Laco is better, but I don’t believe it has an in-house movement.
It has a Miyota movement.
@@seanm3226how is it better with a crappy movement?
