I made a good belt my first try thanks to this video. The bottom side of the leather is tougher to cut than I expected.

Im getting ready to do a belt on my Columbia AZ and with this video and Wyatt's video I think I'll be able to do it.

Hey Brett, thanks for this one. Getting the length right was always the tricky part, the rest was petty straight forward. I see you know Wyatt, nice guy. Great with reproducers. He did a diamond disc for me and it sounds electric.

Hello Brett, Thank you for the nice instructional video on the belt. I have a Edison Home Model B. The phonograph was playing with a witches hat horn then the belt broke. I made a leather belt 5mm wide and 2mm thick. The new belt that I made can turn the cylinder but when I put the reproducer on it slows down and if I have the Witches Hat horn on the reproducer then the phonograph stops. Is the belt too tight? The belt tensioner seems to be touching the upper metal. And if I make the belt slightly loser so that the belt tensioner is freer then the belt slips when I put the reproducer with the horn on. Is there a problem with the belt length or a problem with the feed-screw and the half-nut? Thank you.

I have a video on how to set your lead screw. Take a look at that because that’s one option. Have you oiled the machine?

@1974hurt yes, it is fully oiled.

I've done a few belts in my time: the hardest was on my Triumph, as it didn't have the tension pulley. Took some time to get it tracking right. Then there are some Columbias, where the lower pulley doesn't even have shoulders to keep the belt in place...

Great video. I have an Edison Standard Phonograph that needs a new belt. Where do you get the drive belt leather material already cut to the proper width? Thanks in advance for your help!
