    3:02 with how precise the Sheliak made the treaty I'm surprised there were *any* loopholes.

    • @boss-anova
      @boss-anova Год назад +8

      It was a loophole for this situation, but not a loophole around the treaty grounds. Which was to leave the Sheliak alone and dont bother them.
      This was exactly the type of incident that the treaty was made for.

    I suggest that a summary of isolationist powers in the Star Trek universe should include the Paxans, as depicted in the Next Generation episode, “Clues” (s. 4 ep. 14). The Paxans were specifically described in that episode as “isolationists” - indeed, as radical xenophobes. They inhabited an M-class planet in a T Tauri star system “within a pocket of" the Ngame Nebula. (It eventually is revealed that they had terraformed a “protoplanet” in that system to facilitate concealment of their existence. That implies that their original home world was elsewhere, but the episode does not indicate where that star system might have been. On the other hand, some sources suggest the Paxans were a “non-corporeal” life form, and might originally have evolved in that T Tauri system, but not on a planet.)
    The Paxans did not merely refuse contact by other species; for them, even just the •knowledge• of their existence by alien races was “unacceptable”. They had technology that could create the illusion of a wormhole near their planet, and after an alien vessel had detected it, that could also render the crew of the vessel unconscious. The Paxans would then move the vessel a substantial distance away - at least 1.75 light-years, in this instance (Riker and Ensign McKnight report 0.54 parsecs) - and when the crew recovered consciousness, they would be convinced that an encounter with the wormhole had knocked them out in dislocating them through folded space, and that the location of that system was too dangerous to approach again. If, however, such subterfuges failed to deceive or deter the alien intruders, the Paxans were prepared to destroy them and their vessel, to preserve their isolation.

    in Star Trek Online the Tzenkethi are revealed as large thick skined bipedal mammals with 6 limbs 2 legs 2 large arms and 2 smaller arms the smaller arms are used for fine detail & dexterity work while the large arms can allow for feats of incredible strength and carrying heavy weapons their Ships are just as formidable

    It's funny how Star Trek writers keep using terms like "Alliance," "Empire," "Confederacy," and such and apparently don't know what they mean since the polities they assign those names to don't match the words

The Malon, the Kazon, the Vaaduwur , or even a show on a specific episode like Voyager’s “Blink of an Eye” or DS9’s “In the Pale Moonlight,” “The Quickening;” or “Soldiers of the Empire,” or TNG’s “Reunion” or Enterprise’s “Rogue Planet.”
