- Rick take me to Lago or Lake Patillas in Puerto Rico and I present it here like you have never seen it before. I fly the drone around its perimeter to capture the stunning beauty of the area. I am really glad I visited this wonderful lake. Then, we visit the downtown area of Patillas. I hope you enjoy this and please subscribe, like, and share this video if you haven't already. My parents are from patillas. I was there in February of last year. I always stop to visit my family, uncles, aunts and cousins, before heading to Cabo Rojo where my husband is from.
Really nice video Ovi! I was there a few weeks ago for the first time in 50 yrs. So nice seeing family and the food is amazing. I had an opportunity to sing at that church downtown for my Tia's funeral service. That was where my Abuelo attended when he traveled to town from El Real back in the 1920's-1940's.

My friend the title of your video should say Downtown Patillas and Its lake. Very informative and interesting to see how Patillas still stand even though the huracan Maria devastation.
It will be nice to see its neirboohood like La Mula, El Real, El Bosque Forestal. Quebrada Arriba. Los Pollos, Guardarraya, Paya El bajo de Patillas, La Parguera donde el agua Del Mar brilla de noche.
El charco azul, los tres choros y el charco la vuelta. They are very famous in the town.

I filmed El Real, the town and beach near Inches a few weeks ago. I'm in the process of editing and will upload the pics and videos.
My mother was born in Patillas and i have fond memories when i was a little kid. We used to visit my grandparents and remember the trucks carrying sugar cane in the 80's. Sadly my grandparents passed away many years ago. How i missed those days😔
My grandfather grew sugarcane and had a hacienda there many years ago. It's such a beautiful town and the beach and food is so good. I still need to upload all the pics and videos from a few weeks ago.

My parents families are from Patillas. Right up to mid-late 70’s my grandfather had a general store across from the plaza. His home was around the corner from the plaza. It’s still in the family... one of my uncles still lives there. Looking to spend some time in Guardarraya up the road from the beach. Thanks for the video!

Greetings Ovi, Thank you for sharing this video, it filled me with emotions. Also on the other side of Lake Patillas there are several pools until reaching the blue pool. If you travel to the coast starting around Casallo, you will see countless panoramic views, including Villa Pesquera Beach and, passing Guardaralla, you will reach Inche. You will surely like it.

I just googled Cobian and it was a cinema theater which opened in the 40's and closed in the 90's.
@@oviduran the Cobian chain of theaters spanned the island; we had a theater in San Juan, up Ponce de Leon, in Santurce but virtually in Miramar, we had a drive in half way out the Caguas Road between Rio Piedras and where I lived; we could see the movies from on top of the hill with binoculars. Long lost memories sprang to mind when I saw the "Cobian" on the face of the building in Patillas.
Saludos Ovi! It hurts me when I see so many houses for sale or abandoned. I came to the USA and always wanted to go back when I retired. Fate and family circumstances drove me to Alabama, a different state, and at my age I do not think i will go back to live there, but whenever I hear something good it makes my day, and if it is bad it makes me sad. Thanks for the videos! It is a reality. What can I say!.
It's a similar story for thousands of Puerto Ricans. They come to the states temporarily but for a multitude of reasons they cannot go back to live on the island, my friends and family included. I have been observing this since I was a little kid. But at least we can go back and visit every now and then. Saludos.

Yes, I just found out it was opened in the 1940's and closed in the 1990's.

Let's be truthfully the town socks.
All those who you read saying I love Puerto Rico or Viva Puerto Rico have abandoned it. How can it "Viva" when its bleeding out its citizens? People say Puerto Rico couldn't sustain itself but there is still a lot of land that can easily be cultivated. There are many towns big and small throughout the island that are just ghost towns with no attraction or reason for anyone to visit. No clothing stores, no decent pharmacies, no decent restaurants or toy stores but an unhealthy cuchifrito shack. I say raze it just like they did in parts of Flint Michigan and bring back the land for productive purposes. Our Yauco coffee is superior to Jamaican Blue Mountain and sadly very few people know anything about it. Sad, sad indeed.
