FANTASTIC. As if it wasn't enough for them to match the Stones at their own game, they challenged the Byrds too in the last two parts of the song. If I drew up a list of the best 20 Stones songs, I'd take one off somehow, to put The Groovies on!
Slow Death - The Flamin' Groovies I called the doctor In the morning I had a fever It was a warning She said "There's nothing I can prescribe To keep your raunchy bag of bones alive" I got some money left for one more shot She said "God bless you" I said "Thanks a lot" It's a slow, slow death I called the preacher Holy, holy I begged forgiveness That's when he told me He said "There's nothing I can prescribe To keep your raunchy bag of bones alive" I got some money left for one more shot He said "God bless you" I said "Thanks a lot" Slow Death I'm set to mainline A hit of morphine It's set to mainline It's like a bad dream Slow death--eat my mind away Slow death--turn my guts to clay It's a slow, slow, slow death
I'm only used to the Dictators copy, this original has its own almost country vibe, 5 stars for both versions...btw this is the first time I ever enjoyed seeing Yoko Ono perform.
Great song but this would be the last true rock groove. They really missed Roy Loney once he left. I read once that Cyril was the Beatles fan and Roy was the Stones fan, you can hear it on the first two albums. Songs like Comin' After Me, Headin' For The Texas Border, High Flyin' Baby, Evil Hearted Ada and Teenage Head are true classics. I think Whiskey Woman is Cyril's greatest moment.
The best song the Stones never wrote.
Among with "shake some action" from the same band Flaming Groovies
😂 It really does sound like the Stones, doesn't it. Regardless, this song is freaking brilliant.
Well, shake some action had a different line up. Love that song and Slow Death. @@ezkibela
Agree to disagree. Good but not the best. See Whiskey woman by the Groovies.

Only cool band in history with a member named "Cyril."

These guys were able to absorb the sounds of Stones/ Byrds/ blues in such a garagey way...dead on...
Slow Death - The Flamin' Groovies
I called the doctor
In the morning
I had a fever
It was a warning
She said "There's nothing I can prescribe
To keep your raunchy bag of bones alive"
I got some money left for one more shot
She said "God bless you" I said "Thanks a lot"
It's a slow, slow death
I called the preacher
Holy, holy
I begged forgiveness
That's when he told me
He said "There's nothing I can prescribe
To keep your raunchy bag of bones alive"
I got some money left for one more shot
He said "God bless you" I said "Thanks a lot"
Slow Death
I'm set to mainline
A hit of morphine
It's set to mainline
It's like a bad dream
Slow death--eat my mind away
Slow death--turn my guts to clay
It's a slow, slow, slow death
This is pure fukcin rock’n’roll
Looks like this was filmed at the Marquee during the period I used to hang out there. Great days.
Yes, I saw the sign "Marquee"
what a song :)
All I gotta say is that without Spotify I never woulda heard them. For that I am grateful.
One of the most bitchin' band's most people never heard of 😎🤘
Great band; been a fan since I got Sneakers fresh off the press. Too bad the video/sound is so out of sync.
The Flamin 'Groovies :The Rolling Stones of the poor ,but I like it
Give it up for Dwight Schrute on drums!😂
The Hypstrz rocked this one out.
cool song, cool vid
Good video. Thank you.
One of the top 5 singles ever written…no doubt…”I called the preacher…holy, holy…I begged forgiveness…and this he told me….😂”
The Stones made the money, these guys made the music.
yeah yeah
Me gusta..rock on
So Cool!!!!!
Круто!

The editor thought a snare was a kick.
Topissime
I just realized why everyone seems taller in the '70's

cover exercice obligatoire a tout rock garage band digne de ce nom
Genials, directes al PRMF!!!
The best line up ever in my viewing history Cyril Roy Danny
that is Chris Wilson not Roy..duh
The lead singer .....Jagger vibes.
this version is so tame
Drums and bass are good in this versh
Dictators turned it into a blaster. This is good, though.
