Joel Freck - Vaatu (Radio Edit)

Hey Everyone!
Vaatu. One of the tracks that pushed me the most in a new direction and probably the oldest of the album. It's saw so many variations as I learned better techniques and would always return to spruce it up. I didn't know when, but I knew it had to be released.
This track has a lot of meaning behind it. Vaatu (named with a nod to my fav series 'Avatar the Last Airbender' after the spirit of darkness) was a story about how we've treated the planet.
I wanted to make a record that spoke for the energy of the forest. For this, I imagined a Mayan like society dancing around huge flames at night calling upon the spirits. With the percussion, I wanted to share the intensity, the hurt, & passion. During the breakdown, I wanted to highlight the cries & spirit of the forest and the people/creatures living there.
I could go deeper but yeah, this is it. Keep that in mind when listening ;).
