I love seeing photography tools come out that do exactly what they are supposed to do in a perfect way. This monopod seems like a great, straight forward photo tool. Thanks for sharing! Roger also gets a follow for his amazing work!
It is exactly why it makes sense to team up with ifootage - their gear is brilliant, I must admit. And oh yes, Roger definitely deserves a follow, his work is really spectacular! So cool he wanted to join in on the video. And thanks a bunch for watching as always Carl. If you ever need a monopod, you know where to get it he he
@@DanielBryn ifootage will be my first stop! I’m considering getting one for car and motorcycle race footage. Sturdy enough to hold a bigger lens but I can pan and rotate easily!
@@carlgoetzinger6876 for that I imagine its perfect! The pedal version in particular. The mini tripod is also super handy and a permanent resident in my camera bag
@@DanielBryn I researched the mini tripod (because I like the longer legs as your video just showed) and it’s compatible with the cobra 2 monopod and I am using the previous mini tripod on my hand held video cage so the newer version can be for my cobra 2 monopod. I just ordered it from Pro AV. For less than the cost of a Tank of Gas!
@@colinthecameraguy Yesss, I probably should have mentioned that its compatible with the old versions also. I think you will be happy with the choice. Its sleeker as well, and actually weighs the same
Hooray! My Cobra 3 Low Profile Mini Tripod just arrived so that can now be used with my Cobra 2 monopod (as it’s more stable than the previous version) and the Cobra 2 Mini Tripod can stay on my Video Cage where it can cope with the weight of the rig and also provide Low Down weight for stability when I’m doing Run & Gun. Perfect 🎉🎉
I have the Cobra 2 and used it even in the ocean to make astro shots. Held well and feels good. I will get the new one too though since the longer legs and the newer release system is far more practical and useful.
They are significant improvements, I can testify to that. The cobra, not matter what version, is one of my favourite camera accessories for adventure outdoors to filming in studio at home. You wont regret getting the new one! Oh, and cheers for watching!
Thanks nick - glad you like them. They will soon be fine art prints in a gallery up here in Oslo where I live. Quite excited for this myself. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend
My experience with monopods is that they are not stable. You need to hold them 95% of the time, and if not, they need to be in a completely flat surface (if not, forget it). A normal tripod, good one, does not add too much weight (and dimension, same). And many normal tripods are also monopods if you need (holding them, of course).
Yep, if you need to do longer exposures etc, id go for a regular tripod. These new ones from ifootage are slimmer and weighs less, so i travel with the mini tripod most of the time, and add the monopod if I need. Its all about different need, and for me this is better.
I just received my cobra 3 A189F. This is my first monopod. And I have to say that I am disappointed by its stability. If you touch it, it moves... I wanna took macro photos by setting manually my focus, but it seems impossible. I think it is more convenient for video, or wildlife photo to help to support heavy lens, knowing that you'll always use high speed shutter. Or use it indoor as a flash support.
Hey Mark, cheers! I shoot log and throw on a Rec 709 LUT, then boost it a tiny bit with colours to upload for stock video. Thanks for watching by the way!
I guess... Never tested for that, but with practice, I think itd do just fine. To me its just a very well made, sturdy monopod with smart solutions. Solid piece of engineering. And the quick connects are great!
Hey Bacons! I have ended up with the other version (not pedal). I just liked it better, and I have no need to lock it for now at least. No xoncerns for me, and im now travelling for a year, only with the monopod and mini tripod. No big tripods for me, no Sir!
Hey Stefano, depending on how long it is. For superlong exposures or several second shots, id go for a tripod, or just use the minipod that follows the monopod. I do however prefer the monopod and small tripod solution rather than a big tripod. Hope this helped
Ifootage continues to impress! When one piece of gear serves so many purposes, im sold! Cant recommend this enough. Any thoughts on monopods?

Daniel, an excellent review…and amazingly beautiful photography! Subscribed!
Thanks a bunch Miller! Appreciate it!
I have owned the iF-C180 since April 2019 and it’s very special!
Its great for sure!

Perfect! And its good right?! Quite the improvement, I must admit.
@@DanielBryn yes I am happier to extend the monopod to 180cm now because the new mini tripod has a wider spread.

Good fun! Looking forward to what we can shoot in our next field trip :)
Oh yess! Nice test trip, and looking forward to the next!
The stock footage examples looked amazing! Do you shot LOG and grade, or use one of the film sims?

@@DanielBryn well it looks amazing.
That photo at 1:33 wow. Where was that?
Thanks a bunch - that was in Deadvlei, Namibia
Well done!
Thanks!
Would this work well for sports video, like American football or soccer?

Do you think the pedal version is optimal or the other? Any concern about not being able to lock at an angle?

What if it's windy? Does the monopod withstand as good as a conventional tripod?
No, then id use a tripod!
Thanks. How safe and stable is it to use this monopod for long-exposure photos? Suitable? Thanks, Stefano

Can i use the base with manfrotto monopod?
Dont think so, but I havent tested either
