Also, while I realize her car was faulty, I bet the other reason they’re not getting expected performance is because of all of the starting and stopping. I think when they tested the batteries they kept driving continuously. It takes a lot more power to get going from a stop than it does to keep going when you’re already moving.
Her car isn’t faulty. They’re damaging the connections with the constant battery swapping. That’s creating a high resistance condition that’s causing everything to run hot. There are a few solutions to this problem that fit within the rules.

This was a really comprehensive explanation of how Guinness validates their records, thanks so much for spending the extra time to make an informative video 👌
Get a multimeter and learn how to do a “voltage drop test.” That way you can identify where you are creating more resistance with your battery swapping. Stabilize the wiring with some zip ties and tape wraps. Scrub the contact surfaces with a wire brush every time you disconnect the terminals.
Buy more spareparts. Try to ease up on the configuration pre make connectors for the batteries , with anderson powerpoles or similar. Make sure you can connect more than one battery in parallel. I would say 2-3.
Wiring up all batterys in parallel will let you get a more power out of them voltage sag reduces the usable capacity of each battery. 3D printed sockets for the batterys to plug in to like the ones used on UPS power protectors would be a good idea for fast swaps. Or if you can switching to a better battery is the best option, a single group 31 deep cycle battery from the auto parts store has more capacity. Looks like 2 might fit in the trailer and with some cutting one might could be crammed under the hood for all day battery life with 375 amp hours instead of 120.
Im here from Facebook xant wait to see this whole journey. Does the size of the toy car matter? I know there are some bigger ones that mat be able to handle pulling a loaded trailer more. 🤷🏼♀️ Im cheering you on and cant wait to see what happens
can you share the rulebook so we can help you prepair the cars as much as possible. i know you cant change the batteries to better ones, what would be the obvious change. without knowing as the rulebook i would: 1.tidy up under the hood that you batterie changes are as smooth as possible and you dont have lose wires. 2. fit some extra cooling for the electronics, that are not designed to drive for hours 3. rework the car so there are no half loose screws and maybe regrease some gears 4. use solar panels to charge the batteries on the go 5. connect as many batteries in parallel as you can that way you can cahrge and discharge them together. 6. built some plywood walls for the trailor and strap them around the whole trailor 7. i would try out the complete set up for a day before you go on that 500mi journey
Me too!! Thank you! I'm so excited! I will be editing these longer videos that show all the details at night in our hotel room. Then the short updates will be up too!
Why not look into some larger capacity lifepo4 (lithium polymer) batteries? Many times they can be double and triple the mah capacity of your SLA batteries and be fully compatible with your cars. Less swapping means more time driving. I’m sure if you reached out to someone in the sales department of someone like ExpertPower you may be able to strike a deal with them to maybe get sponsored by them? Throw a sticker on the side of the jeep - world record - 500 miles powered by ExpertPower and LifePo technology ;) Since you have carts, you may even want to consider extending the wiring harnesses from the fronts of the jeep directly to the carts so you can run larger physical sized batteries - more runtime = less battery swaps = less stopping = more miles :) Happy and safe travels!

I have to admit that I'm curious to see how this goes. Y'all should really familiarize yourselves with how those ride-on toys work. Upgrade whatever Guinness allows you to upgrade. Good luck!
I don't mean to sound critical, but I think you should have re-thought your logistics. Two cars, and trailers loaded with batteries was probably TOO much to try. Suggest maybe having Lauren ride in a real car alongside with flashing lights. Although, this would probably need some clearances with local municipalities and law enforcement. The car could also assist with carrying the batteries, chargers and any other needed items, like spare parts. Sad to see day 1 was off to a very rough start.
We are waiting for new cars to come in now and things are being redone a bit for the next attempt! :) We aren't doing the support car though. But we do have people who can bring us things when it's urgent.
Can I recommend a lithium battery pack if that’s a 24v system and you get a 48v 20ah lithium pack and a 24v step down you should be able to run way further than 2-3miles per battery idk what’s in the rule book but if it’s not in there I’d recommend it I’m pretty excited to see you guys start this journey again good luck
I feel like they had issues with the batteries because they put them on concrete which is bad for even car batteries. It's best to place them on top of something even a board. Just not on direct concrete.
Is there any rule about using different batteries? If not you could see about using lithium ion batteries that output the 12 volts. They should last way longer than a mile.
So since I watched your tic toks one I'm loving this adventure and hope you succeed and two since the cars you originally started in well the white one is defective and you can't use them are the allowing you to switch the cars for it and attempt them in the new ones? Cause ok u said they are pretty strict with the rules
why do you use so many chargers and not put some batteries in parallel that way you can use the all oth the power of the charger and you dont have to carry that much. and if you can connect the batteries in parallel on the car then you dont have to swap so often
I know that’s the point of a world record and I’m rooting for yous but a plastic car 500miles pulling probably 5x the recommended wait going over bumps and cracks. This seems totally impossible to me idk the rule book and what y’all can do in terms of repairs but in terms of electrical issues and that car holding together all that time seems insane including the absurd Fl whether conditions. Again that’s the whole point here that being said this is still awesome to watch and I’ll be cheering yous on to see how far y’all will actually make it.
We are doing it as we go bc it would be so hard to keep track later bc they all need time stamps and locations even if it’s gps points. It will be easier to make sure we don’t miss anything if we do it immediately 😬
There are better toy cars to make this challenge. Look for a car with brushless engine. They are much more reliable, use much less battery and make less noise. For example this one from the link in next comment.
Why are you switching the batteries instead of wiring them in Parallel? There’s not a ton of amperage so there would be minimal weight in the wire, itself. You’re going to damage wiring or connections from the constant swapping. You’re going to create a high resistance condition and constantly deal with overheating motors, as a result. Those are not meant to be swapped at that rate. I can’t imagine an external charging trailer, that is constantly jumping the stock car would be against the rules.
@@ASureThing16What’s the difference between a trailer that’s constantly jumping/charging the stock vehicle and a charger that has to be plugged in while you stop?
