I saw it last night. It was absolutely amazing. You can tell a lot of love was put into this movie, and it didn’t seem embarrassed of the source material like 1998 and 2014 were. It was a great movie both for Godzilla nerds like us, as well as people who had never seen any Godzilla movie before this one. Zhang Ziyi played the best new character, in my opinion. I hope she has a central role in the next movie for reasons I won’t spoil here.😉
Well, considering that she and her (unseen) twin sister have been confirmed to be the MonsterVerse's version of the Mothra fairies, I think it'd be a shame if they didn't bring her back again.
You address something that bothers me for some time now and that is the way people see Godzilla. I get infuriated when I hear people saying that the older movies had "cheap and bad effects" and that even G'14 took itself too seriously for being "a stupid monster movie". I don't understand how superhero movie out of all things are admired the way they are while Godzilla and others of this genre are laughed at.
References, worship and fear of giant creatures are spreaded throughout human history but when it's in a movie general audiences expect goofy schlock and don't want to take it as seriously as this topic can and should be taken.
Thank you for addressing this in your video.
This comment wasn't really focused on kotm but I needed to vent.
I'm personally fine with superhero movies. Superman and Spider-Man are some of my favorite characters in fiction.
But other than that, yeah, I totally agree with you.
People in the usa don't give kaiju movies a chance. People in the usa likes superheros more than kaijus.
@GodzillaBloxian Nothing wrong with superheroes. And really, it's mostly American movie critics and film buffs that don't give Godzilla a chance.
As for the commoners like us, well, I think the fact that we're here voicing our appreciation for this film speaks for itself.
All we seem to care about is comedy I guess like honestly think about it. Back before the rating system was a thing horror movies were violent yea but they weren't THAT violent probably due to a lot of it was just cut out anyways but comedies nowadays are pushing the R rating as far as it can go and horror movies I'm starting to see are even pg 13 you'd think it would be been different back then since they could get away with things much easier than now for horror movies
Sums up everything I feel about this movie and then some Titan. This should definitely help me with crafting my review later today on Facebook. I'm going off to round 2 later this afternoon after seeing this in gorgeous IMAX 2D last night. Also major props on addressing the ignorant/uninformed critics that don't bother to really try and understand Godzilla movies in their proper context and looking past their preconceived notions/fallacies.
Well said TitanGoji! With regards to the movie, I saw it as a thrill ride, but without going to an amusement park! Not perfect (and no movie is), but I enjoyed it for the most part. Can't wait to start the "Godzilla vs. Kong" discussion!
I watched it yesterday, it was amazing!
Just got out of the theater myself and I was very pleased with what we got. Your videos this month were excellent and I look forward to seeing more of your content. Good work!
Thanks!
Really enjoyed these series of videos. Great stuff! I’m seeing the movie tomorrow. Hoping it’s good!
I can't wait to see this movie this weekend. Great video man
As a huge HUGE Godzilla fan watching this in the theater just blew me away, Godzilla is bad a$$
Thanks I really enjoyed your series. I’ll be going to watch KOTM today 👍🏼
Glad that you didn’t just bash every critic who say the film is bad.Seeing so many G fans said that critics are stupid for giving negative opinion.i think most of the supporting characters are unnecessary and most of the characters is only ok outside of serizawa.i think the story is awful, even with Godzilla film standard.i don’t like that sometime fans say plot is not important inGodzilla film.
Elton Tan I agree that the story isn't the best, but come on it wasn't awful. It was ok.
I can tell many Godzilla movies with a story worse than KOTM:
Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla
Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla 2
Godzilla Vs Megaguirus
Godzilla City on the edge of battle.
Donato Dicugno I agreed that there’s more Godzilla film with worse plot, but I think the plot had too much storyline and arc, some are quite unnecessary other than than serving fanservices, some of the arc felt incomplete.with Michael previous film,I expect better.still like the film a lot though.
Elton Tan I think the two best arcs were the one of Mark Russell and Serizawa. For me they were the best characters of the movie with the best character arc.
Donato Dicugno Agree 👍
I love your glorious beard!!
I greatly appreciate it haha!
Can't wait to see this movie tomorrow night.
Glad to see you liked it too. I thought it was sort of okay. I saw it 5 nights in a row the week it opened and 3 of those times were in IMAX. I would have gone 5/5 in IMAX but the stupid theater booted G:KOTM, and put X-MEN in there instead, so I had to watch it on a standard sized screen. Even my wife liked the score. Considering there were more monsters and more battle scenes and that the director chose to show the actual monsters rather than their reflections in windows and such, as the director of G 2014 did, the budget for this movie wasn’t much higher than that of G 2014. I think it was only about $10 million more. If the FX suffer, which in my opinion, they do not...I thought they were great and should have gotten an Oscar nomination, it’s because WB didn’t want to pay enough to get the best FX possible. Paul Verhoeven, said after directing TOTAL RECALL that with visual FX, you get what you paid for. If you want them flawless, get ready to pay top dollar. If you can get by with less than perfect, you’ll pay less. It sounds like Unleaded, Supreme and Premium gasoline at the pump. Want better? Pay more. I didn’t think the casting was all that great but then again, it’s a giant monster movie and they are the stars of the movie. The actors all got the job done and by the 3rd or 4th showing, I had warmed up to all the characters. I’m grateful the director was obviously a big fan and made the film fans wanted to see. I hate that this film tanked at the box office, but I think that this is really what most people expected to see when they went to see G 2014, and ended up getting a giant monster movie, where they seemed afraid to show the star of the movie, Godzilla. Had G:KOTM been the movie to kick off the WB Godzilla trilogy, instead of the one we got in 2014, I really think more peoole would have come out to see the second one.
I absolutely LOVED G: KOTM. I’m well into middle age but watching G:KOTM made me feel like it felt to see the Showa era films as a kid again, and I can assure you that doesn’t happen very often with me anymore.
Anyway, I’m loving this series of videos.
Godzilla King Of The Monsters is I really enjoyed it Godzilla comes back to save the world and My favorite moment is when Dr.Seriawa Saves Godzilla In movie 🎥
With my best friend Paul and my best sister we had a great time with the movie 🎥
Great it seems awesome, probably this might be to what might be another co-production between US and Japan on what might be Toho plans on acquiring or just merging with another US studio and probably Godzilla going against a Chinese monster.
Well after what might be like what has happened with United Artist merger with MGM in 1987 will be the greatest merger of all time by ending up having James Bond movies being released in Japan straight to Toho, and with that they will hace the first movie under the MGM and Toho released in the US released by MGM will be An American Warewolf in Tokyo, before they released another Godzilla film being released in the US by MGM while in Japan is released by Toho.
Just like Child's Play is released unde the Orion Pictures release in 2019 then MGM could also grasp the Terminator series after the MGM Toho Merger of yet another Godzilla movie against Mechagodzilla.
Your rant was pretty awesome xD
Gonna see it today
Pro tip - never trust critics.
Also, is this the first time we're seeing your face?
Brumakian Productions he show it in some of the past video
@@eltontan4340 good to know 👍
Over-all I still prefer 2014, even though King of the Monsters was a lot of fun.
Good video
I wonder if *RED* will join the Monsterverse
You Should live stream a chat so we can discuss KotM
Do a spoiler discussion!
Comparing Godzilla to Marvel trash is insulting to Godzilla.
Pandaman haha for real!
A lot of the reviews are poorly veiled racism against Japanese creators change my mind
That's utter nonsense. That might have been true in the Showa era, but it hasn't been true for a very long time.
