I think there were many people who had trouble and even resented Jimmy when he came into the group after Lew had to retire. They were totally different in their capabilities but both solid and strong. Jimmy was not as operatic and Irish "tenorish," but so powerful and with his writing reinvigorated their career.
@@williamsonmuniermakes me sad he dealt with that but i always see Lew found him and gave him his blessing to be his permanent replacement when he was sick!
History will proclaim Harold Reid one of the best bass singers of all time. He is in the same talent class as: Arnold Hyles, Big Chief Jim Wetherington, Rex Nelon, George Younce, Mike Holcomb, J. D. Sumner, Armand Morales, Billy Todd, Richard Sterben, John Hall, Bill Lyles, Rancil Taylor, Big Jim Waites, Ken Turner and London Parris. These were all uniquely qualified and talented, according to their individual gifts. There is no sense in trying to rank them or score them. Just listen and enjoy their gifts to Southern Gospel Christian Music.
@@torybrasileiro3026 Sir, you are correctly correct. I was just listing singers as they came to my mind, no doubt, I left out many great bass talents, notably, Tim Riley and Brock Speer. I did not mean any disrespect to Mr. Riley or Mr. Speer. Both are great bass singers.
My mom (who is in her 80s) remembered hearing this song at church as a child and hadn't heard it since, imagine her surprise and happiness when I found this song for her being done by one of her favorite all time groups. The Statler Brothers. Thanks for posting and making my moms day : ). From Chris Westrick
I love this southern gospel all this new gospel isn't nothing compared to old southern gospel which I am a old time Christian.
