Don't forget about operators scopes, some of them are smaller, and there was a clip where shahzam was watching on split some spot with ion operator, but suddenly enemy peeked under him, and shahzam saw him and flicked on him only because ion operator have very small scoping skin, and he could see enemy peeking from bottom right.

with the guns feeling heavier, i definitely feel that placebo when using glitchpop vandal vs other vandals, it feels like it is more stable even though its the same and psychologically it makes me do better

that is funny because I'm the total opposite. the lighter a skin's sounds are is (blastx phantom, champions 2023 vandal) the better I feel I can perform. I seem to have more trouble aiming and spray-controlling with heavier-sounding guns like gaia's vandal or glitchpop.
I feel the real placebo there is that you think you play better with it.
I wish there was a way to get skins but no one else can see them only you, like rocket league having bakkesmod.

I've been writing a video on a similar topic, there's actually a few other ones that are a little more nuanced. For example; with the Spectrum finisher; since the map gets dark its actually harder to see guns on the ground (especially default skin guns). Or I had an interview with the devs about the Araxys collection and the worries they had / have about the finisher. Launching those pillars into the air allows you to go back and locate bodies quicker to find guns (lets say, an operator on a dead enemy!) There's all these little things they think about that we don't really notice

Definitely feel the "heavy" effect on my Phantom skins. The Spectrum feels like a feather compared to the Recon Phantom, which embodies a truck for me. But only with the laser attachment, of course

I love Prelude of Chaos not because of its aesthetics, but because the sound of it firing make it feels like im firing more rounds than I actually fire, it calms my paranoid brain which often hates it when I miss bursts.
I always feel the recoil on the Origin vandal is way higher compared to other skins and I always struggle with Origin skin.

As someone with severe ADHD, I honestly wish Valorant had an option to turn off the animations of certain skins. If I need to use an enemy’s gun for whatever reason, but they have something with moving parts like Elderflame, Glitchpop, Chronovoid, or even Neptune or RGX, I often find myself unable to focus because of the animations. Normally I just wouldn’t buy skins I can’t use, but when it comes to picking up an enemy’s weapon for any sort of tactical reason (like if I was on a save round and their gun is better), my ADHD gives me a very real disadvantage if they have a particularly distracting skin equipped. It would be nice to be able to turn specific skins’ animations off or change those skins to look like the default skin, if that sort of thing is even possible.

This is actually an very interesting point! In the end they have preference options for people with color blindness, so an option like this one should actually be beneficial for the game
Just don't upgrade the skin that you have in your inventory, or downgrade it.
I find that switching first person handedness changes how i look at the viewmodel, so that may make a difference

The heavy gun skin effect actually feels real to me, I don't have any akins but whenever possible I try to pick up skins like origin and sentinels of light, etc. Thought I was crazy before 😂😂
you missed an important one: that nerfgun skin - the only one that shows you if your bullets are penetrating the wall (nerf bullets stay visible on the wall if they don't go through)
Not exactly, if a bullet goes through the wall, it shows a white light and if the bullet doesn't penetrate the wall the light is different.
The bullet leaves an actual hole if you can wall bang be just an impact if you can’t, that goes for every gun

2:00 idk if this is still true, but tenz found that bullet tracers only go in the general direction of the bullets but not necessarily the exact same and sometimes completely different, so he keeps the tracers off
Another factor to think about is the length of the barrel. To me longer barrels feel “heavier” or seem to just be more accurate which is true in real life. I like the stiffy dragon because of that effect even though it’s a troll gun.

i love the sound of the Prime Vandal cause it doesn't distract me. the sound of the Origin Vandal is very harsh and distracting, so even though it was my first skin, i can't use it.
honestly it mostly ties down to psychological aspect like ur needs and comfortability and also fame of the skin

I agree about the weight of the gun thing, I use oni phantom a lot more than ion or reaver because ion and reaver feel really hallow inside
For me, sound is everything, like when I have a skin in my hands with a little bit deeper sound ( Rever, Prolude, ION, Sentinel, Chronovoid) , I just hear and feel the recoil and I can control it better, for example 1 taps or 2-3 shot brusts. I don't know, but it is what it is. :D

This, I waited like 6 months to get my hands on chronovoid, like 3 to get the ion vandal and instantly bought araxys, all to this day the only couple skins I use out of all of the vandals I have
Like they definitely sound heavier and harder hitting and yet controllable (with the exception of ion that sounds like plastic but feels light and airy and easy to control)
some devs found out that certain shot sounds give the player more confidence therefore possibly making them play more confident which also kinda helps

Some skins can also give you a slight disadvantage. An example: For me, it always feels like the glitchpop vandal or rgx phantom have way more recoil than other skins, which makes them harder to control sometimes.

One thing to add: The BlastX skin bundle gives a huge advantage by showing you which spots can be wallbanged and which can't (doesn't show the darts if you can't).
Also like not super confident reloads aren't at least a little fudged for some yk

The heavier feeling gun. I can relate. Some vandals have a heavy and loud sound or maybe visual and it generally feels like it's a strong gun with a lot of recoil and it kind of reminds me to focus on the recoil even more. The new champions skin for example have a very base-y sound, so at first I subconsciously kept shooting it like a phantom where as SOL vandal feels sharper. And personally I like it when gun sounds are a bit sharp so perhaps skins do give certain advantages.

The “Recon Phantom” works best for me because I think of the “fore grip”. I know it does absolutely nothing but it gives the feeling that I’m holding the gun better and that I have some recoil reduction since grip in most games were placebo

I just bought the reaver vandal today, i played with champions 2023 for like 2-3 weeks but still my gameplay was normal. But as soon as i bought reaver today my aim just got way way WAYY better like i played 1-2 matches on haven and i just kept getting one taps non-stop.
Recon phantom has a grip that works. Just works.
I honestly feel the heaviness of guns and i also get the placebo of playing better with certain skins, i play head and shoulders better whenever i use the prime vandal and i dont understand why
For me I have always found that skins that just seem lighter and cleaner (imo) seem to give me aimbot and I got my shots way more than the default vandal. Skins like prime and rgx just hit hard and feel lighter compared to something like reaver and araxys. This isn’t to say I don’t like the reaver and araxys because they’re both two of my favourite skins in the game but something about it doesn’t give me one taps like rgx does
i was looking for this comment! I'm light skin ftw (lol). I feel like heavier guns make me slower and more lumbering, while prime and rgx make me more nimble. I know its a whole load of bs and its really just a placebo, but my shots are extra clean with lighter skins, prime especially
the “lighter” guns, like spectrum, are bulkier or larger at the end than the “heavier” guns like recon. that makes the movement more noticeable when spraying even though it’s the same gun. imo, i’d rather use spectrum so i can have a visual for how much spray control i have
I think its important to remember that all of these things are not only MOSTLY placebo to a degree, but much more importantly the differences are, at some point, not statistically significant enough for you to ever want to buy skins to get better.
I think also, because of kill effects, there is an incentive to get kills so you can hear that amazing sound of a one tap.
imagine putting valorants sound into ableton, eq it or maybe ott or what ever you heat desires and then take abletons output as sound

I think everybody agrees that Prime vandal gives you better aim, the sound even makes you feel amazing when you hit a head. I don't have it, but I bought the Guardian Pime, and the effect is the same, I get a lot of kills with guardian since I have the skin.

That's actually why I love a good classic skin. The default audio makes the gun sound insanely weak even though it's a very viable gun. Slap a prime classic skin on, and all of a sudden it sounds and feels like it's equals with a ghost to me.

I tend to pick skins that sound crisp, not too noisy, and make it easier for me to feel each shot in a burst or spray, like Prime or Ion Vandal
I'd say different skins give me different effects, it's kinda like drinking potions in Minecraft, lol, for example, with the Prime Vandal, I feel like I can hit my shots better, but with the Araxys Vandal, I feel like a tank, and then there's the Reaver Vandal, which makes me feel the best of both worlds, lmao
In brazil we have a saying for this that goes: "ESSA SKIN TÁ PEGANDO DEMAIS" (this skin's shots are hitting their marks a lot) and I think that's beautiful

It's everything in your brain whenever you pickup a new skin you feel like it's literally an aimbot but once you've played enough matches with that skin even the normal vandal feels a lot better than your own skin
relevant topic - the sound of the mp40 had to be nerfed in Wolfenstein because people were playing better with it versus the tommy gun
Placebo plays the biggest part in skins, I think. Certain phantom skins make me more confident when taking long range fights than others, especially if they have bullet tracers.

Most pro players do use Recon Phantom/Prime Vandal. I use both as well and they do make me perform better (+recon kill sounds are so satisfying)

I always had a theory bc recon is a more heavey skin with a hand on that grip meaning the gun bend a lot less so it prob has less camera recoil

Kinda agree, I'm a frequent Guardian user and for the life of me I have a hard time using Reaver Guardian for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I love Reaver skin on my Vandal and Phantom, it's just something about the heaviness and dragged sound effect of the skin making for Guardian so hard to use. I do own and prefer Prime and Spectrum for Guardian.
Also, Elderflame Op is just too many things moving to the point of unusable for me. To the point I don't want to pick it up after end of round if one is lying around 😂😂
yeah, i agree. i think the elderflame skins are super cool and everything, but maybe a bit over the top considering some of the designs cover half of your screen when you reload 🤕
I'm a Guardian, I have Neptune and Prime, yet Neptune just feels worse. I really wish I got Spectrum instead.

when i started to play Valorant and came in the juicy taste of skins, I had the feeling,that some weapons (especially OP`s) have a higher higher speed in zoom and shooting.
I still think so,that some skins are truely better and have a adv. compared to other skins
After playing with the same skin for ages, I can assure you that the minima skinline is the goat

After 1 years I broke out of the imaginary buff from skins and now I can perform same with almost every skins except the horizon bundle and the sensation one. I spend way too much time hating on these skins while using them and miss all my bullets.
I allways have the feeling that the Prelude to Chaos Vandal shoots faster and therefore I cant controll it as well as others. (Eventhough I know its BS xD)
Don't let this distract you from the fact that the Reaver Vandal gives you actual Aimbot

Actually Recon Phantom has bug that after you use your ability it equips faster than normal.

some skins also have really bad ADS scopes, the RES phantom is especially bad about it with how big the blocks are, i really dont like using RES phantom scoped cause it feels like the scope visual blocks my view
