Very helpful commentary on pens and consistent with what I have heard from others. I am getting into the Hobonichi Cousin for the first time in 2024 and have been wondering what pens are best for it. You got good guidance on the Platinum Preppy. They are excellent beginner fountain pens and write better than many more expensive pens. Another great starter fountain pen is the Pilot Varsity.
Good review! I've also noticed that Sarasa Dry doesen't dry as fast as I thought i should. Can't use the 05. Sarasa Dry either because it starts to bleed through. Maybe because I apply a lot of preassure when I write?
Good review. I either use Uniball One .38 or .5mm pens- they dry quickly. I just started using fountain pens too. I’ll have to find a fast drying ink for them.
I love using fountain pens and I use various inks depending upon how I am feeling. I don’t think any of the inks I have are fast drying and it also doesn’t help that I often use medium nibs, though sometimes I use fine. What I have done is take a piece of blotter paper and trace around a Hobonichi pencil board and cut that out. Then I do not have to wait for the ink to dry - I just move my blotter to the page I just wrote on and it works great!

Thank you 🙏 I haven't tried the Pilot Varsity. Thank you for the suggestion 🙂
The Varsity is great. I’m left handed and tend to make a mess when I write and the Varsity doesn’t smear easily.
@@ReineDeLaSeine14 thank you 🙏 I need to try that!

That might be the reason 😞

I definitely need to try the uniball one! Keep me posted on the fountain pens!

@@jilld.268 i definitely need to try different pens and nib sizes! Thank you for sharing ❤️
Great video. Where did you get your ruler?
It's from Lauren Phelps designs
i have the same experience with Sarasa Dry on tomoe river paper though. It always smudges.
Good to know it's not just me😅
Do the pens in this video shadow on the other side or ghost the other side?
I think there's a bit of shadowing. It also depends how hard you write. If you're a heavy hand writer then it'll definitely ghost more.
Super helpful thank you!
Thank you for watching ❤
But do they bleed?
No. But the ghosting is different with each pen
very nice
Thank you ❤️
