    Lead is great, almost too easy.
    If you spiral the water pipes inside the electrolyzer room (and make them out of granite) you can get away with oxygen almost as cold as the water.

    The only issue with that bathroom loop is they will wash with grey water.... idk if that matters a lot or not now days. Fine for flushing but idk.... I like the sterilizing cistern method. Store cleaned water till 0% germs then pump [or normally ill fill that holding tank over my good water pool, knock out a tile fill and seal to start loop again.] Some times leaving some clean water behind to help kick start germ killing next batch of water. There seems to be a relation to % clean water to germ that kill them faster. Even without heat change so you can do this in base core. Mine you will still get that refinement temp change but it is on low side. I like to pump warm water out tom ice bioms some times to use passive cooling/heating to melt more water work free, kinda.
    PS feeding Hatch the pouted dirt can be a nice fix if you set up for it.

    Don't scald your dupes! If you drop some water into the corridor you want them to work, it'll probably quickly heat up to 50-60C but won't scald them. They can get heat stroke a lot easier if they're in water, but the -5 Building you get from Heat Stroke is way easier to live with than the -3/6/9 Athletics you'd get from scalding wounds. Also note that your dupes can be wounded but not suffer any debuffs until they hit 85hp, so putting them in a triage cot while at 92hp was absolutely useless. Love the series, keep it up.

    Showers this time?
    If you set storage priority lower and some bins with not sweep only they will just do that job last.
    I have 1 dupe set to groundskeeper whos job it it is to toggle tidy on highest priority then run things to storage. I set all other dupes priority to down 1.
    Have your rancher, cook dogs in to run storage so they only work inside the base.
    Only if they get other things done and have nothing else do they sweep up.
    I have general storage bins set to 4 so they get to the other bins that are needed for certain things 1st.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  5 лет назад

      I don't do a lot of storage, mostly seeds just to keep them away from the pips. Bleach stone as well. After that it's just a few localized sweeps to tidy up some area's.

    • @LTL_king
      @LTL_king 5 лет назад +1

      As long as your building operating or doing other stuff.
      They won't run anything to bins at all.
      Only when nothing else to do.
      So they would only run to bins which is included the coal seeds etc bins.
      They will not do it.
      Set a few bins at bottom of base to a 1 and storage on all dupes to lowest priority.
      Sweep is in the supply category.
      So if you sweep something it takes over.
      Also I'm saying for the dupes locked inside the base. Chef rancher dogs in.
      Amusing you install a door.
      Set those dupes when they have nothing to do to run storage.
      You can x all the outside dupes from doing storage.
      The base will get cleaned over time.

    Question about your tree farm area... I'm still midway through this episode, so if you address this later, forgive me. I understand active ranching for food etc.... but i tend to use a natural space (like your tree farm) for multiple purposes. First it becomes my nature preserve (with the sign). Second, with a few wild pips, it becomes a renewable dirt farm (not always needed, but still free resource). Third if you put one or two wild hatches in there, you soon end up with a population of wild sage hatches, turning some of the dirt into coal (you can even just let them hatch naturally if you are patient). If you leave them wild this ends up costing no dupe labor, except for the occasional culling of the herds to keep pip and sage hatch populations reasonable. Which of course is the fourth benefit occasional free meat. last thought, if you put this room where they have to run through to get to the base exit, you ensure a lot more dupes get the nature preserve bonus. So here's the question. How sustainable do you think my idea is in the long term? I haven't actually gotten past mid game, I tend to peter out or run into a death spiral. I hoping that watching you will help get me over that hump. Thanks again.

    • @BigOldGrizzly2

      Just saw your ladder nature preserve.... that solves a lot of problems.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  5 лет назад +1

      Plus 6 moral for nothing, hell yeah. As for Pips, trees, hatches I'd have to run the numbers but it should be possible. however the space required to make it useful would be crazy. For example hatches eat food and produce coal five times faster while being ranched. To equal two 8 hatch ranches you would need 80 wild hatches, plus 80 pips and quite a few trees. They nerf the wild stuff pretty hard so that it's difficult to make it useful without enormous effort.

    • @BigOldGrizzly2
      @BigOldGrizzly2 5 лет назад +1

      I do get that, but for those of us that don't play as quickly as you do, and those of us that have limited labor near the beginning and early mid game, a way to get some labor free coal depending on the situation might still be worth doing for a while... I mean all it takes to get this started, is one pip and 1 hatch locked in a natural Room, with a couple of tree seeds. If nothing else it would give you a source for a true ranch and a way to get that kick started faster a little later in the game...

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  5 лет назад +1

      @@BigOldGrizzly2 You have a point. Just be aware wild critters only lay one egg in their life so wild populations do not increase.

    Couple suggestions:
    1: Art and decor is pointless. Don't waste time on it. You don't need morale boosts anyway unless you're above the profession limit. Food and rec buildings are the way to go on this one.
    2: Get a dupe and set his priority two arrows up on "storage" so it's the only thing he will do. Get plumbing and carrying spec and build some containers and he'll clean the entire base for you in less than 40 cycles all on his own. Dupes can carry 3-4 tons if their strength is high. Add exosuit training to that later and he will quckly clean the map too once he runs out of things to store in the base.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  5 лет назад +2

      Decor has a place much later in my opinion. As for cleaning I don't bother doing it until much later in the game usually when it starts to affect performance. It is usually faster to build stuff if construction material is lying about the place.
