Paint the slits on the valve covers to match the engine block in the rims don't powder coat them stay old school and true
Evan knows his shit. My next engine will be built by him for sure!
From 76' when I WAS A SOPHOMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL... I rebuilt my L~88... CHEVROLET ORANGE IS THE COLOR FOR HIGH PERF BROTHER!!! Seth
Glad to see keeping the past alive. Right small block and trans makes it a modern speed daily capable rig.
It is great to see you do a full build. All of the engine, suspension swaps and accessory installs are cool too. But this shows yet another way that you are taking things to the next level (but still on a budget that us average guys could swing). Mississippi Mud is going to be amazing!
Myself along with the Chevy God's would like to Thank you Robbie for keeping it old school and going with a Gen I motor.
The chassis' already painted and engine in, body work done and painted, dang! The team is flyin' on this build!😮
I love th the way yall mixed old wit new technology on motor an trans.... I think that's awesome!!
It’s so nice to see y’all using a SBC instead of an LS!
Your right, that color is spot on for the vintage/look you're going for. Can't wait to see it complete.
Glad you're going with a good ol' SBC. Nice, tasteful twist on the Chevy Orange with the Yuba Gold. 👍
I think my two favorite things about that engine are the headers & THAT COLOR! I had to laugh to myself when you said "The next video's gonna have some cool stuff." Like ALL of your videos!
Those headers really set it off, sweet.
I love this build as much as you love using the word perspective
Lol it happens
I think you're right, every build doesn't have to be an LS. Nice!
I’d like to see what most RUclipsrs don’t list.
A complete breakdown of parts PRICES at the end of this build.
Most young builders have no idea how much it costs to build a truck at this level.
Parts alone are crazy. Plus all the labor involved if you have to pay someone to do the work.
Im so glad u went old school sbc. I can say that because i have two trucks one with an LS and one with a 454 BBC and honestly there is nothing like an old school motor. So nostalgic, sound and simplicity. My opinion, all around better. Awesome color choice too!
You did good with that SBC, nailed it on the color! Even though they typically look small in the squarebody engine bay I think those headers will help to fill it out more. Also love the Cerakote black with the polished stainless flanges, that really sets it off and keeps them from looking like your basic cheap set of black headers. Good job sir!👌
Sweet 👍 can't beat a good 'ol small block or less you go big block. Thank you for going old school keeping it alive. Most go LS but they forget as dependable as LS is old school is even more so and can't beat the look.
Dude... that is gonna be nice! Love that harvest gold 70's color.
Yes !! Let's bring back small blocks and put Holly's sniper EFI on them!!!
That's a killer combination! The valve covers will look good black. I'd sand the powder coat off the top of the fins back down to the aluminum to contrast with the aluminum intake. Nice work!
That color with those valve covers is such a classic look imo. It would look awesome with a dual quad high rise intake.
Great build, I like that you did it SBC with modern transmission and EFI.
Small block is the way to go in a squarebody, LS isn't time period correct....OLD SCHOOL!!!!😀😀👍
Anxious to see the truck assembled and seeing that small block run. Just recently finished a small block 400 for my 72 C10. Was going to go crate but friend of mine said he'd build the 400 for me.
I also went wit the OG 350 small block in my C10👍🏼 all day… C10LIFE1!!!!!
So cool and really exciting with everything moving so fast, great to see a SB for a change.
i like the GEN1 Enthusiasm great going guy
Told you we think alike. You did this one perfect in my opinion
I had similar valve covers and painted them woth black wrinkle paint and sanded the top of the fins and it looked great. Imo Looks great so far.
Thanks, Brian! I've about decided again to leave them raw
Dude this whole build has been awesome I can’t wait to see the end results
That motor looks so so so good man.
Looking really sweet bud have a great week
Robbie, use a motor oil for flat tappet cams. Should have zinc and other stuff for lubrication. Most new motor oils don't have this stuff anymore. If you are running new stiff valve springs it will flatten the cam. Comp cams tech told me you should run stock valve springs or remove center spring for 500 miles. This means no high RPM stuff during the 500 miles. If you have any doubts, call Lunati to verify. I love small blocks and have 30 years experience building and racing them. This info is for flat tappet cams only and not rollers. I love the channel and been subbed for a couple years. Especially love this build
15 40 Rotella diesel in white jug has all the good stuff still there
Thank you! We’re definitely gonna be running oil with zinc additive. No worries.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I figured you guys knew. You guys build enough stuff to know. Heck most of us cut our teeth on skinny blocks. Serious though, call Lunati Monday. on the valve springs, I'd hate for it to eat itself up on the way to Dino's.
@@mblake0420 Rotella does have a high number of zinc in it but run a bottle of ZDDP as well. The rotella is missing some the other stuff
I like the sbc, It’s cool just having a simple engine that’s going to be reliable and make plenty of power
Wont be reliable with all that aftermarket stuff on it.
Really love the engine color Robbie. Cool to spice it up!
Great engine color choice! Still looking for that Smokey Bear build, Robbie!
Man, you painted aluminum heads? It looks great, I dig the color. I always like to leave the heads bare, the valve covers/intake/timing chain cover the same color, different from the block. Everybody has their own likes/dislikes like orang or black engine blocks. There's no wrong answer.
I wondered if I was the only one who thought that was something u don't typically see. Unless your going for a stock look. Just my 2¢
Sweet engine color, will make the engine bay pop
Love the look of the SBC!!
Waiting to see more of this truck and especially the road trip video to Dino's!
Bighugs frm Indonesia.. C10 Square body is my dream car
I can't wait to see this bad boy rollin
Very nice. Glad you are doing your dream SBC with what you mostly already had. Overall that is going to be a sweet truck.
So cool the small block with the 4l80 and the Terminator ecu can't wait to see howbthis thing performs bet it even gets decent fuel mileage
It'll blow you away how many people will compliment you at a show not having a LS 🤣🤣👊
Heck yeah!
Nice! Anxious to see this progress! You're definitely blessed to be surrounded with so much talent and buddies willing to help. 👊
15:38 Cracker Barrel does have the best darn breakfast… they have those crispy pancakes like granny makes. Boom bam biscuits
Those headers and flange fasteners are really nice, I would love to have a set of those.
Let me know if we can help you with a set of headers for your build!
They are Ultimate Headers - feel free to call their shop - 440.234.9600 - part numbers: 202011 (stainless) 202015 (ceramic coated) - tell them UBT sent ya!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Thanks! When the time is near I will contact them. They have some of the best looking headers. Thank you, your channel is great as well.
Gotta hand it to ya Robbie, when I saw the first video of your plans for this truck, I said "Good fucking luck"...I will admit that I might have been wrong. Looks like you're on the right path to a BadAss ride 👍
Thanks for the follow-up! Not everybody may see my vision but I've got one and we'll hopefully realize it soon enough.
Those headers are fire man. I can wait to see how the Holley Terminator will work. I want to do this on my 1990 1ton Suburban
If we can help you with a set of headers for your Suburban, just let me know!
They sure are! I'm very excited
Great build can't wait to see it running.
Dude. Loving this. For my taste, I’d leave the valve covers exactly as is because it ties in the metal that meets the headers to the engine body so nice and overall it feels more raw to me. Black might mute the depth and vintage feel of it. Either way I’m super jealous. 😂
Man i love this perspective. Thanks for watching and giving me some thoughtful advice!
Awesome wheels and engine choice IMHO👍
Oh yeah can't wait for the next video
just posted! ruclips.net/video/9clClYAUKdg/видео.html
Does Evan have a RUclips for his engine building? I'm using that same cam in my 388 stroker build and was wondering if he had more info on the engine build
I knew I was a rocky fan drinking that modelo
Shop juice
Definitely love the look & vibe! Totally killer!!!!😎🤜🤛😎
Sweet looking build!! Can’t wait to hear it 🔥🔥 up
Very cool! I love to stick with gen 1 SB when hp isn't important. But spending that kind of money to get same (or less) hp that a cam kit in an LS can do is a no go for me. Nice video!
Lots of work coming in hot see you guys at Dino’s
Very beautiful motor Robbie
Killer job guys keep it up!!
Looks good ! I still love my SBC's. Those headers are N I C E . I looked for a pair on there site for my 65 El Camino but didn't see any long tubes for a small block
Hey, Dave. Feel free to call their shop - 440.234.9600 - part numbers: 202011 (stainless) 202015 (ceramic coated) - tell them UBT sent ya!
Can’t wait to see it at Dino’s
This will be infinitely cooler than an LS swap. Great choice.
I think so too! Very happy with it thus far. Keep watching the build series and you’ll get to hear that thing roar to life
Definitely cooler than a LS swap and will make usable torque rather than smashing the drive by wire skinny pedal and the dash read “Please wait, torque loading, buffering”
I need those headers ! Planning on body dropping my truck and I didn’t wanna run shorty headers!
Hit up Ultimate headers
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS will do! Thaank you!
Surprised you went with the 4l80E with such a mild sbc. They are heavy and take a bit of power to spin but they are pretty much indestructible for most set ups.
i love the fact uor build sbc that hop up instead of ls dont get me wrong i love motor but soemtimes u cant beat sbs look in old truck or car
Who spec'd all the motor parts, Robby? Looks like a smart combination of parts that'll work together well for a stout-sounding, peppy street cruiser motor.
Evan and I sat down one night and hammered it all out. I'm very happy with the results thus far.
There ya go man 👍🏼
Black with LT1 valve covers had one like it people were scared of those valve covers it's funny cuz next small block I put crate motor valve covers and 90% people thought it was a crate motor crazy Noah la
What’s the price on the those headers .they are sweet.👍👍👍👍👍
They should start making coil packs for old scool 350s so you cold delete the distributer...
With aluminum heads, you coulda ran 10.5:1 on the street no issues, but to each their own, love the small block
Of course we could’ve but it’s all more money, right?
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS eh, not really, just pistons im sure ya already had to buy. To each their own, I prefer to build the hottest little motor I can with the money I have. No big deal though
I rebuilt engine it my suburban and it was originally black so I repainted black... never again. I could never find an oil leak. So I pulled engine just to repaint
I know you guys mostly do GM stuff but a while back you pulled a unibody Ford 61-66. What’s going on with that truck? Any plans?
Lots of plans but it’s just sitting in covered storage waiting its turn
What color is that ? Looks awesome
Any ideas what drop kit is on the white c10? I have one like it and love that one’s stance.
Can you post a link of the paint and clear you used?
Evan D Engine buildeR 😎✊🏾👑
What all part did you use to bolt up the 4L80 ?
Small blocks or still cool in my book
What engine is it is in a small block chevy 350 or 400
Built 350
I really like those headers! Where did you purchase them again? I am building an 82 and also staying old school with a 350.
Ultimate Headers!! Happy to help you with a set as well!

@@UltimateHeaders Awesome I will definitely be in touch on these. Love the way they tuck in plus from what I see you guys left great clearance for the spark plugs. Appear to be well worth the money!
Was that an engine paint or just regular paint with a clear coat?I want the same for my green 76s 400 sbc.
Regular paint with 2K Clear
You need to paint that transmission to even though you won’t see it but it definitely needs it
It's true. The one part that is aggravating me thus far. lol
I really like how this truck is turning out. Do you happen to have a part number for the headers also?
P/N 202011 - from Ultimate Headers - They are not on their site, just call and I will help you out!

@@UltimateHeaders You make them for an 84?
Stainless bolts, aluminum fined oil pan, aluminum thick timming cover
What the information on the Econoline for sale there?
What kind of 2k clear up as used?
What drop is that and what shocks are you running?
I got to build 327 small block board 60 over modified heads and cam there ain't nothing wrong with the small block
Awesome
Similar to catapillar yellow, maybe a little darker
I can get behind that!
I don’t understand this patina thing. Back in my day it was called rust.. lol I’m not a fan of it. That’s the cool thing about opinions everyone has one!!
All good! Thanks for watching
I got Yuba Gold paint color but, you didn't mention the brand name.
It’s in the build plan video. We buy all of our factory color code paint from automotivetouchup.com. Almost every question one could ask about this build is covered in all the build videos. Thanks for watching!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Thank you, sir.
