Had a 2006 crew cab Titan until last year, great truck. Now a 2018 Titan XD crew cab 6.5' bed with the 5.6L engine. Awesome truck and what a tow vehicle (28' travel trailer loaded at 7,500 lbs). The commercial van frame (yes, different than the regular Titan), longer wheelbase and bigger brakes make a huge difference. The column shifter? After getting used to it, I prefer it. Non-towing fuel economy at 55 mph flat freeway for 20 mi was just over 20mpg. This degrades at 70-75 mph to 17-18 mpg. City mileage really sucks, it just does. Overall, I really like the truck.
@@Sig721Tau Couple reasons. My 5.6L was still running strong after 200K miles just keeping the fluids clean, but the rest of the truck wore out. Met a several folks running it over 300K no problems and one guy over 400K. Second, the reviews on the diesel were so so (that I saw) and in fact Nissan discontinued that motor for 2020. When I bought my XD used, word was already out the diesel was being discontinued.
Funny that you get 13.1MPG on premium and so far after 18000 miles I'm averaging 17.6 on regular and yes you can still use regular gas 87 octane and you will loose 6 hp,frankly you won't even notice 6hp in a 6000 pound truck
Gotta love the exuberant prices of automobiles now a days fueled by cheap credit. 60k for a pick up truck? That used to be Mercedes territory not too long ago.
Why do you even pay attention to sticker prices? Means nothing. I bought a 2018 titan xd Cummins brand new off the lot for 45k out the door. You can get the regular titan in the upper 30s al day long
I take advantage of it by buying used. Let people have their new trucks. I'll take their trade in for $30k off the sticker. You can get a used 2018 loaded Titan Pro 4x with 20-40k miles for $29-33k.
I’ve got a 2024 Pro4X. I like the old school buttons. Putting all the controls on a touch screen is a pain in the butt. And I like the shifter. It’s a truck. Not a Tesla- and it’s proud of it.
Regular Fuel is still perfectly fine per Nissan. It will serve up 390 HP, and 394 ft lbs. 400HP, and 413 ft lbs on Premium. Ford is similar as they recommend Premium fuel in the Ecoboost when towing.
I got asked by my friend if I'm really ready for the gas-use difference between my old accord and this truck (need something with a bigger engine and cargo space, It's this or a Ford Escape for me, and I'm not getting a 1.2 liter lawnmower). Decided to test my MPG in my '09 accord. Odometer at first fill- just under 150k. Filled her up, drove around as usual, filled her up again the next week......My old Honda's averaging 17mpg. I'm already paying for truck amounts of gas, may as well get a truck.

Alexander Lovato - i was planning on upgrading from my 2005 Titan and placed the Cummins model on my short list and decided to research it further. However, the reports of all the problems that plagued this engine were alarming and Nissan dealerships were ill equipped to service diesels. It seems that Cummins (world renown for producing reliable, powerful and efficient Diesel engines) may have made the engine too complex! On the Titan XD Forum there are many complaints regarding these diesels from minor to catastrophic!
Guess it’s the luck of the draw.. my 2016 has been amazing (knocks on wood). Just at 50k miles and not a single problem. I’ve done all my own maintenance including oil changes, fuel filter changes and transmission drain/fill. We tow a two horse steel trailer with a bed full of feed/hay and family in tow regularly on a 5 hour commute to and from the in-laws as well as everyday driving from my wife to and from work about a 45 min commute. My only complaint is the tuning on the transmission still needed some fine tuning. It pulls great and gives me everything I expected from it. Currently averaging 17.5 MPG combined while due for a fuel filter service. Would still recommend if you can find one gently used!
Underdog again....There is no overwhelming reason a person would choose this vs the competition. If Nissan wants market share they need to be the least expensive. Nissan should have taken advantage of this while Toyota has been dragging its heels on the redesigned Tundra. Good review, Thanks.
Well. I have seen this truck touched all the bases. So it will do well with great promotion. Make the truck to advance you will eliminate the buyers in your age group. So where do this truck stand next to f150?
It’s funny how a good sounding exhaust and a peppy engine makes the fuel mileage suffer. My 2018 Titan can easily achieve 20 plus mpg if driven a little easier.
Pro 4X will be available in the King Cab...there aren't any available right now. Nissan is delivering Crew Cab models first because they are the best selling version.
