The only way I'll be okay with an Ashfur redemption is if he's sincerely remorseful AND _if he really has to work for it._ I was okay with Breezepelt's redemption in Crowfeather's Trial because he had to work for it the whole book. Plus, Breezepelt didn't actually kill anybody. Ashfur has killed people, so his redemption is going to require a lot more effort than Breezepelt's. But, honestly, I'd prefer if they didn't try to redeem him. The "he loved too much" excuse was stupid to begin with, and now he's just gone too far. #KeepAshfurEvil

I think that if ashfur is redeemed he should make a sacrifice, however I don't think it should be him dying because that feels kinda lazy to me. A lot of redemption arcs have the character sacrifice themselves and die but that kinda gives them an easy way out. I think they should redeem him but he shouldn't die. A different kind of sacrifice could be more meaningful and he would actually have to face everything he's done. Love this channel keep up the good work! :)
At first when I saw this video in my recommended I was like: OH THEY BETTER NOT. But now I actually have some ideas! First off, I want Ashfur's ghost to die saving the clans in some way. But they have to make it very VERY clear that that doesn't fix his past actions, he's still a bad cat, but maybe squirrelflight would forgive him afterwards. Second: he has to give up squirrelflight. He has to realize that no amount of pretending to be her mate will make her love him, and give up bramblestar's body. Third: it's gotta be slow. The best redemptions are never just they wake up one morning and are suddenly good (Breezepelt), or they sacrifice themselves in the end and it's all ok now (cough cough *Bluestar* cough). And it can't be a full redemption. He should still be a morally questionable cat by the end of it. Basically how I would do it: Ashfur is taken prisoner and squirrelflight reveals that it's Ashfur, Ashfur admits that it's him, but still refuses to release bramblestar. Slowly but surely, it becomes apparent that Ashfur feels at least somewhat bad about what he's doing, but when asked about it he doesn't respond. Meanwhile (assuming that the ghost cat theory is true), maybe other cats get possessed, and cats begin to ask Ashfur who he's working with. Squirrelflight mostly avoids him but, he won't answer anyone's questions, so reluctantly she goes to question him herself. Ashfur probably tells her about the ghost cats, and their plans (probably to take over or destroy the clans?), At this point, I want him to try and apologize for the fire scene, but Squirrelflight won't forgive him (duh) and will storm out angrily. A while goes by, Ashfur clearly has come to the realization that despite trying so hard, Squirrelflight will never love him. Bramblestar's ghost at this point is on the brink of fading, and squirrelflight begs him to let him go, but he probably says something along the lines of "why should I? I must be in pain that you don't love me every day and night. You deserve to lose your mate. Unless he's not even your mate?" Yeah he absolutely has to reference the fire scene. Squirrelflight at this point might've started to consider that he felt remorse for his actions during the fire, but this line would convince her otherwise. Squirrelflight tackles him in fury " I should've known that your apology never meant anything! I almost began to think... I almost began to think that you were anything but a heartless monster! You say that you love me. If you love me, you could accept that I love bramblestar, not you!" She sheathes her claws and begins walking towards the door but Ashfur is all like "wait!" Squirrelflight glances back at him "fine... I'll do it." He reluctantly releases bramblestar, who wakes up, but is incredibly weak. The other ghosts probably get angry at Ashfur, and probably kick him out of their group thingy, we'd probably see this through rootspring spying on them. In the end, Ashfur releases starclan. He tells squirrelflight that he did it for her, still unable to let go of Squirrelflight. Squirrelflight tells him that he has to let go. That they were together for only a moon or two and things will never be like that again. Bramblestar is still really weak, but once starclan returns he begins to recover (my personal hope is that he retires, rather then staying leader) but the rest of the ghosts are pretty darn angry at Ashfur for ruining all their plans. The ghost cats are still trying to destroy the clans, despite starclan being back and the fact that nobody listens to the possessed cats. Ashfur dies fighting against the other ghost cats, and probably saves someone or another (Not squirrelflight, that'd defeat the point). After that, Squirrelflight forgives him. She knows nothing could excuse his previous actions, but she forgives him anyways. That's an overly detailed version of what I think should happen, and y'all don't have to agree with me. And I'm still not sure I want him to be even half redeemed.

I know literally every single piece of evidence points to it being Ashfur, but I’m still clinging on to the hope that it might not be. I just think Ashfur is sorta like old news and he faded into the background of ‘characters who’ve already been used’ like he had his time in TNP and POT, but after he died, he just became a normal cat again. Watching him be dragged back again, will sorta be annoying and boring. In StarClan he was just like yk chilling and if someone manipulated him, I sorta get it, but I don’t think he wanted his past to follow him. I guess if possessing Bramblestar meant he could have fun with Squirrelflight... maybe? But also that’s so disgusting like ew get freaky with some other dead person and leave my baby out of it. Also at 3:50 I realized how similar Spottedleaf and Mapleshade look like when they first came up I had no idea which was which

As reader who’s favorite character is Ashfur, I honestly do think a redemption would be great except I think it’d add a twist if he still couldn’t comprehend right from wrong and end up hurting others on accident and paying no mind to it because he’s an insane character like that

Emmy Cat at first I thought Bramble x Squirrel was better but now seeing how Bramblestar treats her currently makes me think that Ashfur would’ve treated her better even though he’s a *nice guy* if you know what I mean
I really hope they don't redeem him, and instead this arc turns into a commentary about how Starclan is flawed and how their measure of "good" vs "bad" cats is extremely biased. Him being redeemed + the clans/warrior code being pretty cult-like to begin with is... Not a good message, at all. I don't really trust the writers to redeem Ashfur in a way that is truly acceptable when stacked up against the crimes he's done. Making him sacrifice his ghost life fighting for the clans (which I suspect they will do, with very little character development build-up for it) is a huge cop-out-- oh, he may have committed several extremely terrible crimes, but he died doing something for the good guys so now we'll always remember him fondly!! It's bad enough that the whole "he got into Starclan because he just loved too much" thing encouraged a bunch of impressionable preteens to think that Ashfur-levels of obsession and angst are romantic. I really want a character-- Squirrelflight, Bramblestar, Starclan themselves, whatever-- to say "no. You didn't deserve to go to Starclan and you don't deserve to be forgiven. You've had chance after chance to be a good cat and you have failed every single time, you are not worthy of being redeemed". But this is Warriors, so I'm unfortunately not expecting much out of them.
I find Ashfur a lot more interesting than Breezepelt- I wish Ashfur hadn’t been a yandere, I wish he had, had someone ELSE to pull him out of that hole that he fell in.
Idk about anyone else, but Needletail’s death was the saddest and most horrible one to me. She was killed trying to save someone, and was killed by a cat she looked up to, and Darktail didn’t even really notice. Worst, she died by drowning, which means she was struggling as the cats pinned her down, and it’s really horrifying to think of her struggling to get away as the ones she looked up to just watched her.
I honestly think that a good way to make something similar happen with Ashfur staying evil would be a Spiresight redemption! Spiresight could be evil, but then redeem himself by giving information to the clans and getting killed in battle with the evil cats.
I think this is how Ashfur trapped Bramblestar. As Bramblestar went to Starclan for his body to repair, it wasn't in the position to, and Ashfur took him to the dark forest and trapped his ghost under the tendrils and roots. Ashfur passed through the lake and took hold of the body Spiresight lead him to.
Imaibge if he got the spottedleaf style treatment, telling bramblestar to cherish squirrelflight like he does tawnypelt and his kits, before fading away, then maybe an epilogue where squirrelflight has another litter with a single kit who looks EXACTLY like ashfur, so the we get ashkit in remberance of a cat who went insane over a love that would never be returned to him but redeeming himself after realizing how cruel and unjust his actions really were
I think a good plot for Ashfur would be that he did feel Squirrelflight had been punished enough, but a force of evil Starclan cats convinced him that what he had done wasn’t enough. So Ashfur possessed Bramblestar to punish her more, blindly following the the evil Starclan cat’s orders. He felt guilty for hurting innocent cats, but was convinced by the evil Starclan cats that they deserve to be punished too as he doesn’t just hate Squirrelflight, but Firestar for just sending he and his sister off to bury their mother instead of someone less stricken by grief who didn’t mind seeing Brindleface’s torn up body and that he also hates Cloudtail because he was a brat who didn’t care that they needed his support and that he also hates Thunderclan who was babying the brat and ignoring the two kits who’s siblings were dead. But then I’m thinking he can be convinced by Bristlefrost, Fernsong, Flipclaw, Thriftear, Ivypool and Birchfall that Squirrelflight had been hurt enough and all the people who hurt him either feel bad or were in the dark forest. I’m thinking that Ashfur would have a soft spot for them as they remind him of the only cat who was really there for him, his sister. How do you feel about this idea?
Last time i checked the most voted for option on the poll on the warriors website is second chances should be given, but only to cats who seem remorseful which imo isn’t the best way to distribute second chances. The way i see it, thats like someone killing your mom, but then not going to jail because they said they were sorry Also squirrelflight needs to break up with bramble and become squirrelstar

Ashfur says he will fight for them, and he is redeeming himself, when the big battle happens, he would fight for the evil Starclan cats, and he was using them for info. I just wanted to share this , Maple Shade actually had another chance to live, but she failed. Here’s what im talking about: Maple Shade was actually buried alive bc she was in coma, so she died suffocating. So yea, it pretty dark but at least she is in the dark forest.

I really think that Ashfur will go Spottedleaf style. Honestly I think that's a problem a lot of tv shows, movies, etc have. Someone does horrible things their entire life, sometimes including murder, and because they commit some selfless act just before they die because they learned the error of their ways all is forgiven. I say NO. You do NOT get to be forgiven for all the times you messed up and destroyed lives just because you did one simple good deed.

I'm honestly so sick of redemption arcs for villains. Let villains be evil! It also doesn't set a great example for young readers. There's been an icky trend in the media lately of forgiving characters that have murdered, abused, and manipulated others just for the sake of subverting expectations. If Ashfur were to get a "redemption" arc, it should play out in a way where no cat is forced to forgive him for his past actions and he dies to benefit the living cats.
Ashfur, to be honest, I don't think he deserves a second chance. He tried to abuse the false kits of Squirrelflight, and then, later, he doesn't really act loving towards Bramblestar's kits. He just has problems. He acts like a jerk when Squirrelflight tried asking him if they could be friends.
Personally I don’t think Ashfur should be redeemed even if he makes up for his mistakes. He has done so many horrible things in life and in death (helping to kill Firestar, trying to kill the three, taking over Bramblestars body...), but he still had a chance to live peacefully in Starclan... but what did he do? He did this! Not only does Ashfur not understand that his actions have consequences, but he’s been shown that he can do anything he wants if he just halfheartedly apologizes for it. Even if u make up for ur mistakes, there’s going to be a consequence for them, and that is something Ashfur needs to learn. In StarClan he was just like yk chilling and if someone manipulated him, I sorta get it, but I don’t think he wanted his past to follow him. I really hope they don't redeem him, and instead this arc turns into a commentary about how Starclan is flawed and how their measure of "good" vs "bad" cats is extremely biased. Him being redeemed + the clans/warrior code being pretty cult-like to begin with is... Not a good message, at all.
I don't really trust the writers to redeem Ashfur in a way that is truly acceptable when stacked up against the crimes he's done. Making him sacrifice his ghost life fighting for the clans (which I suspect they will do, with very little character development build-up for it) is a huge cop-out-- oh, he may have committed several extremely terrible crimes, but he died doing something for the good guys so now we'll always remember him fondly!! It's bad enough that the whole "he got into Starclan because he just loved too much" thing encouraged a bunch of impressionable preteens to think that Ashfur-levels of obsession and angst are romantic. I really want a character-- Squirrelflight, Bramblestar, Starclan themselves, whatever-- to say "no. You didn't deserve to go to Starclan and you don't deserve to be forgiven. You've had chance after chance to be a good cat and you have failed every single time, you are not worthy of being redeemed". But this is Warriors, so I'm unfortunately not expecting much out of them.

Idk about anyone else, but Needletail’s death was the saddest and most horrible one to me. She was killed trying to save someone, and was killed by a cat she looked up to, and Darktail didn’t even really notice. Worst, she died by drowning, which means she was struggling as the cats pinned her down, and it’s really horrifying to think of her struggling to get away as the ones she looked up to just watched her.
I honestly think that a good way to make something similar happen with Ashfur staying evil would be a Spiresight redemption! Spiresight could be evil, but then redeem himself by giving information to the clans and getting killed in battle with the evil cats.

I think this is how Ashfur trapped Bramblestar.
As Bramblestar went to Starclan for his body to repair, it wasn't in the position to, and Ashfur took him to the dark forest and trapped his ghost under the tendrils and roots. Ashfur passed through the lake and took hold of the body Spiresight lead him to.
Imaibge if he got the spottedleaf style treatment, telling bramblestar to cherish squirrelflight like he does tawnypelt and his kits, before fading away, then maybe an epilogue where squirrelflight has another litter with a single kit who looks EXACTLY like ashfur, so the we get ashkit in remberance of a cat who went insane over a love that would never be returned to him but redeeming himself after realizing how cruel and unjust his actions really were
I think a good plot for Ashfur would be that he did feel Squirrelflight had been punished enough, but a force of evil Starclan cats convinced him that what he had done wasn’t enough. So Ashfur possessed Bramblestar to punish her more, blindly following the the evil Starclan cat’s orders. He felt guilty for hurting innocent cats, but was convinced by the evil Starclan cats that they deserve to be punished too as he doesn’t just hate Squirrelflight, but Firestar for just sending he and his sister off to bury their mother instead of someone less stricken by grief who didn’t mind seeing Brindleface’s torn up body and that he also hates Cloudtail because he was a brat who didn’t care that they needed his support and that he also hates Thunderclan who was babying the brat and ignoring the two kits who’s siblings were dead. But then I’m thinking he can be convinced by Bristlefrost, Fernsong, Flipclaw, Thriftear, Ivypool and Birchfall that Squirrelflight had been hurt enough and all the people who hurt him either feel bad or were in the dark forest. I’m thinking that Ashfur would have a soft spot for them as they remind him of the only cat who was really there for him, his sister.

Last time i checked the most voted for option on the poll on the warriors website is second chances should be given, but only to cats who seem remorseful which imo isn’t the best way to distribute second chances. I just wanted to share this , Maple Shade actually had another chance to live, but she failed. Here’s what im talking about: Maple Shade was actually buried alive bc she was in coma, so she died suffocating. So yea, it pretty dark but at least she is in the dark forest.

I really think that Ashfur will go Spottedleaf style. But i think it’ll either be for squirrelflight or for BrambleStar since if he did turn to the good side, he would want to make it up to squirrelflight and by protecting her mate with his life he would be getting a major redemption. Idk it’s all just speculation since I don’t have any proof this will actually happen just my thoughts. I’d like tos we what you guys think! Honestly I think that's a problem a lot of tv shows, movies, etc have. Someone does horrible things their entire life, sometimes including murder, and because they commit some selfless act just before they die because they learned the error of their ways all is forgiven. I say NO. You do NOT get to be forgiven for all the times you messed up and destroyed lives just because you did one simple good deed.
I'm still thriving on the idea of Hollyleaf coming down from Starclan to get rid of him once and for all :)

I'm honestly so sick of redemption arcs for villains. Let villains be evil!
It also doesn't set a great example for young readers. There's been an icky trend in the media lately of forgiving characters that have murdered, abused, and manipulated others just for the sake of subverting expectations. If Ashfur were to get a "redemption" arc, it should play out in a way where no cat is forced to forgive him for his past actions and he dies to benefit the living cats.

Ashfur, to be honest, I don't think he deserves a second chance. He tried to abuse the false kits of Squirrelflight, and then, later, he doesn't really act loving towards Bramblestar's kits. He just has problems. He acts like a jerk when Squirrelflight tried asking him if they could be friends.
Personally I don’t think Ashfur should be redeemed even if he makes up for his mistakes. He has done so many horrible things in life and in death (helping to kill Firestar, trying to kill the three, taking over Bramblestars body...), but he still had a chance to live peacefully in Starclan... but what did he do? He did this! Not only does Ashfur not understand that his actions have consequences, but he’s been shown that he can do anything he wants if he just halfheartedly apologizes for it. Even if u make up for ur mistakes, there’s going to be a consequence for them, and that is something Ashfur needs to learn.
