  • Hey,
Let's look into Christian Light Education and how this homeschool curriculum was a plus in our homeschool this year. I have always been looking for a open curriculum and one that is teacher led because when I have the time ti teach more I can, but when I am not able to teach one on one this curriculum can do it all on it's own. @christianlighteducation

We love CLE Reading! This year we’ve used Grade 1 Learning to Read and Grade 1 Reading, 2nd, 5th and 6th. I am looking forward to using the next levels up in the fall.

You will enjoy it. We are going to finish 5 and start 6. I was going to skip, but then I realized we have enough time to do it.

This is a great flip through and review. I’ve never really thought about checking out CLE until this year and now I almost want to try it all 😂 I already have my kids picks but may end up getting the CLE reading for all of them

We use CLE for Math and my kids love it so much. I feel like CLE curriculum gets overlooked because it's not "fancy", but I agree with you it is a solid program. I have two questions; I am considering using CLE Reading, Critical Thinking Reading Detectives or Daily Reading Practice by Judy Holbrook which one would you suggest to use for a 8th grader who needs to improve on comprehension? Question two: Is CLE Language Arts overkill with the reading program?

CLE reading and La are different and really don’t overlap except for Bible verse memory. Reading is more comprehension and vocabulary and La is all the grammar and writing and spelling. My 8th used the Reading enjoyed it. For reading comprehension though which I am learning with my one who struggles. Start small and add on and make sure it deals with one component at a time and not all over because then it is hard for you to know where in comprehension he really struggles. I would use reading comprehension workouts from younger grades and make sure it something they need to review. Also, do they like to read because sometimes it is reading confidence. I have not heard of the other to reading programs, but will look at them and give you my opinion.
