    You can literally see in her face how miserable she was in elite. College gymnastics really brought the joy and that beautiful smile that we now see in every routine that she did in college gymnastics. So sad shes graduating. She was one of my favorites

    Katelynn, if you read this, I want to tell you how fantastic you are, not only as a gymnast, but also because you have been so open about the effects of pressure to be "perfect" as relates to your body (which is incredibly strong and beautiful) and to be someone's poster child of what a gymnast is "supposed" to look like. Its unreal to me that people will find fault, any fault they can, with people such as yourself, that have worked hard, remained focused despite physical setbacks, emotional and mental ones too, to achieve greatness! I am a HUGE fan of yours!

    I can’t fathom telling an elite female gymnast who has the hardest stuff in her routines that she makes a mistake because of her weight? That’s just stupid. She was never overweight. She’s beautiful and fit. Wonder if Liukin ever told his daughter the same bullcrap? She should have been insulted because she was tall and could barely do double backs without cowboying. Don’t get me wrong....I love Nastias gymnastics but no way should her dad ever have treated Ohashi like that. So wrong. I’m glad she has found her love for the sport again.

    • @minhphung8479
      @minhphung8479 5 лет назад +6

      you have only heard one side of the story so don't make judgement like that. Plus as beautiful as Katelyn is now, she wouldn't get far being an elite gymnast; unfortunately most sports do require athletics to be at certain weight/height , having certain body types to excel; and eating healthy in a controlled amount is part of the deal. Katelyn and many other athletes just weren't willing/ happy to scarify that part of her life among others. Plus Nastia was told she was too tall not only my her dad but many others, and she did struggle, having to work extra hard to make up for being too tall, skinny for gymnastics.

    • @iloloformaria

      Minh Phung that makes no sense weight depends on height so they want these girls to starve themselves to be good enough for a damm team her work and skill would make her best the hell out Simone bikes and because she has thick thighs it makes it better

    • @pr3621
      @pr3621 3 года назад +3

      @@minhphung8479 i’m confused, are you saying that she just didn’t want to cut back on food intake? cause that wasn’t the case. she had a eating disorder and whenever she would eat the right amount she would workout and even try to puke it up

    • @maureenkelly738

      Ann Granit - Because keyboard warriors get off on body shaming without having to show their body for critique, AND because those in the industry take the opportunity to blame everything that goes wrong on weight. It strikes the emotions and is done to give the shamer a bit of control over the athlete. It also makes the shamer happy to make the athlete miserable. Some can only be happy when they can cut others down. Ohashi has come to a place of peace many many years ahead of others going through the same thing. Good for Miss Val! Ohashi is now a beacon of light for others undergoing similar shaming for not being an “ideal body type.”
