Kyla is honestly going to go down in history for being the only female gymnast to win worlds, national and olymic medals, she has won all around for pac-12 twice, she won bars in pac-12 twice, and she won beam in pac-12 once, then she went on and helped ucla win the ncaa team title in 2018, and she has won each individual event title in the ncaa championships, she is a queen, she really is the boss and the fact that she received something like 11 9.975's this season alone is so weird, she deserved to break that record
you might be speaking too soon. depending on what happens with the tokyo olympics and who makes the usa team, riley mccusker, sunisa lee, kara eaker, grace mcallum, jade carey, mykayla skinner, or morgan hurd, could all give kyla a run for her money
I just love how she got more and more excited every time she got a 10 and at the end, her last 10, truly meant a lot to her cause it brought her to tears. 😭
But she’s pretty damn close to it. this girl has always been such a beautiful and talented gymnast, she also did great in her studies and I’ve never heard anyone having nothing but nice things to say about her. A role model for sure!
If you look at her first bars routine, she had 2 small leg separations. They judges may have not been able to see that from the angle they were sitting. If they did it would not have been a 10. It's very difficult to not do those little feet separations.
The judges really held back her scores this season, pity she didn't set the career 10's record because who better to have it. I give Coach Waller credit for not officially challenging any of the scores and making it about The Team though.
The longest, prettiest lines I have ever seen in college gymnastics. BTW, the shortest, prettiest lines I have sever seen in college gymnastics were Kocian's. I was lucky enough to be a ticket holder and see so many amazing things, but while I am happy for these amazing young women to move on in their lives and achieve even greater things, well, yeah,... I'm bummed their Bruin careers have ended.
Something about her energy makes me so happy. You can tell she loves what she does, and I appreciate that so much. She's got the charisma and beautiful fluidity, she has it all. I love her!

Litetally those 6 weeks this season where she didn't get a 10 she had at least 1 event in each of those meets that got a 9.975 and deserved a 10 . if she would have gotten all those 10s she would have tied the record ❤❤
She's great. For me some of those routines weren't quite a ten, but I'm sure they'll have been others where she didn't get a 10 but should have. I have to say her bar routine is pretty boring lol, but I know it's about building a routine around the requirements and keeping it short as poss to avoid deduction
What I'm noticing is that for elite gymnasts that are competing for the national champs or worlds are competing with more difficult skills and when they are competing in the collegiate level they are just trying maintain a certain skill level and perfect their technique although they would be more capable of doing the more difficult skills.
Something about her drilling those vaults is soo satisfying. And love that moment when she finally got a 10 on floor! Ugh, I will be forever sad she didn't get to finish her senior season!

If a D2 or D3 gymnast did a beam routine like the one she did at 1:00 they would not have gotten a 10. They probably wouldn't have even gotten a 9.9, to be honest.
@karen wilson I'm not doubting her greatness. Because she is one of the best. I'm just saying a D1 10.0 is like a D2/D3 9.7. Gymnasts these days are judged by the leo they're wearing as well as the skills
@chanel kim I agree with the point that mistakes were missed or judges didnt notice etc however, Nadia was 50 or so years ago when gymnastics and deductions were extremely different. In college gymnastics, they dont get "mistakes canceled' out by good performances elsewhere in the routine. Thats the whole point of the 10 system; they start with a 10 and deductions are taken away, not added back. One specific one i saw. was on beam where she had a balance check which should have been a deduction, maybe the judges missed it but i think some of the bigger names like Kyla and maggie (i love them both) are judged less harshly and given the benefit of the doubt, where other gymnasts would not be given that.
