Definitely a toolbox man, love the fact I can sit on it to save my knees or stand on it to be able to reach something that is hung very high. My toolbox is just under 30lbs and it used to be 50-60lbs!! It’s super sweet as it is now.
I use CK, Knipex, Wera, NWS (Gilbows), 3M (Insulation Tape), Stanley, Bahco, Irwin, Stabila, Kewtechnik, Bondhus for hand tools. Fluke, Kewtech and Socket & See for test equipment. DeWalt and Makita for power tools.
I found my way here for the dovetail box, also a sparky by trade. I've used very few toolbelts, always find I prefer a very small Occidental leather tool holder that my belt holds and my back pockets. Enjoying the videos thanks for putting in the work.
Not sure if you can get these across the pond but when I did general contracting I switched from a huge bulky framing rig with an additional electrical pouch to the toughbuilt cliptech system one belt and a dozen different pouches you can clip on or off as needed they even have rail to hang on your shop or van wall to keep them stored. I was skeptical to say the least but tried out two pouches well now I have 16
Veto tool pouches and bags are very well made but pricey. Great pouches for sparks tech OT-MC & tp4B & tp5B & TP-XL Tough Built tool pouches are also great and made with quick removable belt clips and a very fair price I might add ! Definitely worth looking into!
I run a VETO pro pac X-XLF (I think that’s the model # it’s the biggest they have ) I have mainly Klein, Channel lock, knipex, Craftsman and Wera . All awesome tools ! I love this job still after 23 years ! The Klein Bagget style pouch is the lightest I’ve found and the one I usually go back to, also have Occidental leather and Gator backs .... always go back to the Klein bags, not the new style the old style .
Also used to have toolboxes 26”Stanley but used to be too heavy I just got that Stanley tote and it’s a lot better and lighter, and I got it for 30 euro from woodies
Hi john, appreciated your video. Have been doing this now for 40 years and do not use pliers: CK side cutter stripper works for me , larger size same as you, personal choice I guess. Keep up the good work 👍
I'm using "Tolsen" cloth made pouch very light ..,not very confortable with the leather one..Totally agree with You ,Knipex made really excellent tools..especially for electricians like Intercable or so..Peace ,Mate..👍1️⃣
I have the 15 inch PACKOUT tote and in it I have a hammer, hacksaw, utility knife, wire nuts, Irwin version of the channel locks, combination of wood, sheet metal and self tapping screws, 24 inch Klein level, Klein screwdrivers and nut drivers, Fluke multimeter, M12 screwdriver, M12 hammer drill, and sometimes I'll have the Milwaukee installation drill driver, most times I'll have my hand tools in my Veto pouch with my Klein insulated screwdrivers, long nose, wire cutters, hybrid pliers, cable cutter, coax stripper, PL-259 crimper, and a flashlight
Great video!! Is that a Deise accent I hear?? I lived down there for 15 years, absolutely loved the place, was only supposed to stay for 6 months.. my son was born there too 👍 anyway i recently scaled 3 tool boxes back to one, the same tote you have there.. its amazing the shite you build up in boxes over the years haha!! Great channel, keep up the good work 👍
It’s not hard to see that you are a electrician, the conduit work in your shop is beautiful. I am a retired electrician I had 55 years in the trade so I know what I am talking about. The only thing that I disagree with you is I hate the Stanley knife. Love your channel
Great video. I see so many people in the electrical trade with only non insulated screwdrivers. Why is that? It seems to particularly be on American videos that I see this.
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed They have the best side cutters I’ve ever used. Their heavy-duty ones that are black and blue in color with a very large head to cut large wire.
Cool video? What was your flashlight (torch)? Have you ever tried a Gerber Multi-Tool? I love the 600 size tool. I like it over the Leatherman ( which are nice), because the accessories on the Gerber aren't riveted in so tight. The Gerber you can just swing the tool downward, and the plier jaws slide out and lock with just one shake. If you are used to swing out blade on Leatherman, you might miss that, but the cutters and quality of the Gerber is fantastic. It feels great in the hand, and if you need pliers (which can handle most tasks, poking, cutting, tightening, bending), just flick your hand. That alone makes it worth the while. The phillips, can opener, and file is of good quality too! Can you tell I'm a fan!? lol
Hey brother I’m sorry to bother you but I was just wondering my local IBEW isn’t taking applications at the moment and even if they do I don’t know if I’ll be able to get in. Is there any other option for me to become a licensed electrician without the IBEW? Could I get the same sufficient schooling somewhere else without their apprenticeship? I’m 26 with a wife and son.
Its a Dewalt Tool pouch its about 16 years old now so not sure if they still make them, but if you can find one they are quality! Here is a link to it www.amazon.co.uk/DeWalt-DT8305QZ-Electricians-Pouch-Version/dp/B0001IX5AI

Electrician here and also a woodworker!

Really liked the video, but my favorite part is your Skeletor poster! Haha!
Thanks! 😁
Keeping taps is a good idea imma have to use that one!
The Wave is the only way to go ! That’s what I carry !
Agreed the most in the Leather-man tool.
I have carried one for 4 years. The first pair was taken from me at the airport; forgot I had it on me. 😂

Get a veto tool pouch for your hand tools. Solid base so it will stand up and keep your stuff dry.
I like my tool pouches on my waist. I do own a Veto tool bag.
@@andrewsalazar98 Just dont wear too much around your waist, you might get back problems later.
I've never seen your lineman wire stripper technique. That was super cool to see! Thanks for sharing.
No problem thanks for watching

Well John! Refreshing to hear the local dialect 👌😀 great channel. Hope you continue to grow 👏
Thanks man
Now this is a guess off the top of my head. Is that a midlands accent?
Local accent? Welsh?
Local, depends where you are standing?
All accents are foreign if you are standing on an island on your own? 🤔
Looking good John, love the drawings of Bear and Gin on the walls...well done!!!

OCCIDENTAL IS BY FAR THE BEST TOOL POUCH PERIOD.
I like my racketeers pouch. They are cordura material but are really good. I also have occidental later which are really good but expensive.

I'm going to have to get some Klein gear again to check out what you guys are using
Klein tools have been around a long time and is favored by linemen and electricians
I've used the non insulated knipex pliers for a couple years now. Once you've used knipex its really hard to use anything else without cringing.
They are quality
I believe I’ve gone mental, lol 23 years and I have a veto pro pac busting at the seems !

Its sure is, thanks Keith.
My normal set of Tools are mostly Klein but my insulated tools are Knipex
Thanks John ! Advices from a pro are priceless. I’m already checking some brands you mentionned 👍
you are welcome, links to some of them are in the description
Hi, can't see the point of carrying a crimper without the crimps. How does that work?🙂

Hey John, what size are your pliers? I see they go from 160mm - 220mm. Im an apprentice and looking to get some Knipex
Measured it at 230mm so must be the 220mm one you are looking at.
They are more than likely 225mm....02-06-225 is the product code 👍
VETO Pro Pac best toolbags and such. Best regards from IBEW LOCAL 8 IN Toledo Ohio

The flashlight is made by a company called luceco, I have a US military issue Gerber multi tool, the cutters on it are class
I stopped using a tote bag when I went to get a tool out and there was a big spider in it.
Have the same fluke myself. I only use it on pinball machines and arcade machines though
Its a quality testers
I'm a fellow Irish man myself! Just started my apprenticeship!
Nice one man best of luck
How long are you Electrician now
