    Couple of things, even though you got this lil guy/girl back to life. 1. Don't need to cut the zip-tie (did you re-install a new one?) Use a flat head screwdriver at the zip connecting point, (Where one end of the zip-tie goes into the locking mechanism on the other end) against the lower stand's base. You can easily pry it up and over the grove of the base, then simply work your way around the base. Comes right off. Also, if all you're doing is rotating the horizontal gear under the right eye, you don't need to cut the thread holding the ears. Move the ears upright, and loosen the screw at the top of it's head, so you don't break that section of plastic. The more you remove and cut, the less it's worth on a resale. Just some helpful tips, not bashing. Thanks for sharing.

    Wow! Thank you! My mother saved her 1998 Snowball Furby (with tags and original box) and had it put up for the last 24 years. My 11-year-old daughter just discovered the vintage Furbies on youtube and started asking me for them....LOL...I was like "Call your Grandmother!" Anywho....after 24 years of storing her WITH the batteries in it....ugh....she didn't work...and nothing we tried helped (including cleaning corrosion, resetting, etc). She sent it to me for resuscitation and thanks to your video....I got her working again!!! She's going BACK into the original box (without batteries this time...LOL) and will be wrapped up for a 12th birthday surprise in August!

    Oh yeah, you didn’t really have to open it up. You could also try smacking the bottom, moving the ears, eyes mouth and smacking the back if that doesn’t bring it to life you can try doing an external push start by moving the beak down the top one and if you can’t see the white little gear, it’s best to go inside, but if you do see the white little gear what looks like a corkscrew gear because it is spinning with your flathead screwdriver or star screwdriver a small one be careful though cause you could knock off the tongue sensor switch

    Do you know of any way to do this successfully without removing the skin/plastic tag? I just got a new 1998 special edition and I've never had to deal with this issue before with my past Furbies, and I really don't want to mess up the fabric to where it not be seamed at the bottom. I know that sounds picky, but it's only one of so many so I want it to work without having to dismantle it if possible. I've read some comments on videos that shaking or banging them lightly against the direction of the gears might help, but so far no luck.

    • @oddbodyfurbz7119

      Kevin I too had the same worries but ultimately I was left with no choice since I wanted to have working furbys. Attempting to jump start the Furby doesn’t always succeed, even with new in box furbys, so doing so is a risk. You really must consider whether you want to keep your Furby as is or attempt to get it working again. Hope this helps!

    • @countrymouser1962
      @countrymouser1962 3 года назад +2

      I commented above about the same thing. Not wanting to mess with the fabric seam. DON'T BANG IT AT ALL. A bigger hammer won't work for this fix, and the fact that the gears are inside the body cavity, there's no option. Some have posted that you can squeeze lubrication down behind its ears. Bad idea. Most folks will "over-lubricate". Depending on what you use (The creator recommends Silicone Grease. You can research this as well). Don't use Petroleum based lubricants.

      I had a DOA brand new in box Furby. I put batteries in and banged it a little against my hand and it sprang to life. Although another I had stopped working. Banged it multiple times and nothing worked. I moved the gear like she shows and BOOM it started working. I think the circuit knows that if it's not moving to stop working so basically if someone / thing is forcing the parts from moving, it won't strip the gears etc when it tries to move. I am glad there are no internal batteries for "memory" that can go bad.

    Good video , when these Furby came out one of my 6 years old boy begged us to get one , that day we waited in line for 6 hrs at our local Toys R Us , we were able to get one , so when my son came from school , we surprised him with the Furby , in less than 2 days he didn’t want anything to do with it , he claimed it was possessed . So we ended up putting away for over 10 years until we donated to Salvation Army . Now my son is 32 and still haunted by the Furby , so for Christmas I bought one from EBay as a present , but it won’t power on .

    Definitely try flipping the gear by putting your screw driver through the mouth first. This should only be done if you can't get that to work or if you plan on skinning it anyway for other purposes.

    Don't strip it down!! Mine hasn't worked for over 15 years, just put batteries in and tapped it on a soft surface sprung back to life.. TRY THIS FIRST... shame you can't share videos on here I'd show you..

    Don't skin furbys. Put a screwdriver above their beak and spin the motor.

      Hi. Cam you explain this process please? Thanks

    • @ashleywilliams674

      @@kimknighten1307 take the furbys top beak and push it down. If it goes down shine a light inside it and you will see a corkscrew at the left. Put a screwdriver in there and try spinning the gear for about a minute, longer if it doesn't work, and make sure that you don't have batteries In the furbys while doing this or else it might short and you will have to replace the motor. If the beak won't pull down gently hit it on the table and it should spring to life. This is how I fixed all of mine and it works well and is much easier. (Note the beak should be able to pull down if its above gen 2.
