The steering wheel was not invented until the 18th century. This 15th century design used a vertical stick connected to the tiller below. It's located just ahead of the raised aft potion. You steered the boat by moving the stick right or left.
@@RyanMelita nah but my mum told me all of that how the guy built the ship and drove it up here it’s amazing how it was all wind power that got him the bottom of Australia to the top
I really want to learn to build one myself! ❤

I intend on making a rival ship and then taking her as prize. Potentially in the next 30yrs, it's on.
I think they had burners on those old ships but an open fire I'm not sure 😅
That’s so funny my mum told me that story just a couple days ago
Aww really? Did you make it down to see the ship?

@@RyanMelita Is cool your favourite word? Cool! and it's a COOL ship. The guy must be COOL. Prize for the number of COOL's in your dialogue.
@@panacheparispanache nothing nice to say, don’t say it at all buddy!
It's not a pirate ship! Pirate ships had to be much larger to carry canons. This is a caravelle. It's an explorer or light cargo ship.
