That’s a really clever way to keep old clothes from ending up in a landfill. Very inspirational. I was skeptical at first but after seeing the finished product and seeing how easy it would be to launder you totally turned me around. I love the things you do with the rigid heddle. I’m just learning on it but you’ve inspired quite a few projects. Thank you!
I love the many colored rug! That type of rug has a special place in my heart, because it makes me think of my aunt Kathleen. She had these scattered all over her house. When I was little, I considered these to be very fancy, and I would set up a Barbie play area on one, or maybe make one into a flying carpet, and just generally had a good time and a good little rug. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
I love “a lot of people say” myths!! You are clever - I have maybe 100 old tee shirts -- I use them to make Alabama Chanin skirts, dresses and blankets - But I am certainly going to be weaving a rug on my rigid heddle in the next year!!
I think since I don't have a loom, I will follow a similar concept and crochet a rug out of all the shirts that I've been collecting for a "quilt". Thanks for the inspiration.
This is wonderful inspiration. I do have a 24" beka and plenty of old tshirts that need to get cleaned out. My son is in the process of buying his first home and this would a make a great gift. All the old tshirts from his family members turned into something useful. ❤ PS nice Guggenhein snips. 💯
That would make a great gift! I love these scissors. I bought them for myself one Christmas when they were having a special deal. They're great, and i got a tiny pair for sniping embroidery threads too.
I sometimes use my quilting stash to wrap around cording to make baskets on the sewing machine. I have thought about making a rag rug with quilting cotton. The advantage of knit t shirts is it won't unravel or shed threads like cotton will. I am sorry about your Sister, Trish. It was the first time I have heard you mention her. I am glad you have her memory with you in such a lovely way.
Love this idea. I was given 2 large totes of cloth “yarn” and giant crochet hooks from an estate where the woman crocheted rag rugs. I may take some and weave on my rigid heddle after watching this.
I made all my strips this week, now just waiting for my loom! It is supposed to be here Wednesday. So excited can’t wait. Thank you so much for all your videos 💕
I love the rug videos, they give me so many ideas. I’m looking forward to next week’s video, that sounds really interesting. I understand the feeling of not getting a lot done. For me, it’s that I have SO many ideas and inspirations that even if I finished something every day, it would only be a trickle of the total number of ideas I have.
Your rugs look great. I’ll have to remember the loops next time I’m cleaning out old shirts. I just finished weaving a scrap yarn rug for the grandkids to sit on when they’re playing. I made a scrap fabric strip one a couple years ago and love it.
I’ve been watching all the weaving videos you have to get ready for going and getting my loom!!! All your fun ideas like this are getting me so excited. ❤ You always give me such inspiration 😊
Have you ever cut the shirts as one long piece before? This way is cooler so you get all those colors, plus seems like double width loops would make it go more quickly. So a "memory" rug lol, nice. Perfect places for the new rugs. Who doesn't love a good rag rug right?
Oh, Trish, this is fabulous!! I want to weave a rug NOW!! The funny thing is, my husband is about to 3D print me a 5 dent heddle for my little loom and he keeps stalling 🙄 so now I said that I need one for the bigger loom too! He’s not that thrilled that I went on at him!😂😂(and it’s 6am coffee time in bed🤣). Anyway I will start searching for old/unwanted clothes!! I am on a mission😆🙏
What size heddle and is it done with a single warp or double. I have tried a rag rug on the RH yet only by twinning. Thank u! U got the creative juices flowing.
My mother-in-law has these rugs that her mom made. This is my next project after the wash clothes. Thank you for sharing you have taught me a lot. What size heddle did you use?
I really enjoy your videos and have learned a lot from you. Newer weaver here. My question is kind of general but related.. do you always do the extra hemming warp when you're at the end of one project but continuing on the same warp to do a second one? Maybe it's not called hemming warp (I'm just referring to the edging to separate one piece from the next). Thank you🙂
I love how easy you make it look. Thank you. :) I am intrigued by your warp board. Could you share where you bought it. Is it known by another name. When I search "warp board" I find the ones with pegs that us wind over for indirect warping. Thanks, again.
Total lightbulb moment for me watching this. I just just put down a store bought rug by our back door, but it’s a little too long for the space. Why don’t I just weave one? 🤦🏼♀️

I’ve always loved rag rugs but now I have a new found appreciation for just how much work goes into them. Thank you.
Some weeks ago, you gave me advise on how to long draft. Thank you. I made a skein of long draft and I am so proud.
Another fun project on my already ling list. Thanks again 🎉

Ok. I’ve had my rug warp and loom out for months. I have also gotten my fabric stash out. You have convinced me to go ahead and weave a rug!
I love “a lot of people say” myths!! You are clever - I have maybe 100 old tee shirts -- I use them to make Alabama Chanin skirts, dresses and blankets - But I am certainly going to be weaving a rug on my rigid heddle in the next year!!
Thanks again Trish for being so generous with your sharing. I am going to try one of these
Now that was interesting! I didn’t know you could make rag rugs on the rigid heddle…. Another project for my winter! Thank you….❤
I think since I don't have a loom, I will follow a similar concept and crochet a rug out of all the shirts that I've been collecting for a "quilt". Thanks for the inspiration.
Great idea! I’m going to save t-shirts and weave myself a rug for my craft room. Thanks!!

Fun video. Someday when I put up my shed, we’ll more like a building I will get a loom.
What a great way to put something you’re not going to wear to good use. ❤
I've done rag rugs but never with the loops, I like that way of cutting the t-shirts, so much easier, thanks Trish!
Now I need to make a rug!!!!!
That weft looping was so clever. The rug turned out great too.
I loved how those rugs turned out! Watching the warping still boggles my mind
So fun. I keep watching your weaving and it looks like so much fun but I don’t have room for another fiber tool.
I love all of your videos but weaving is my favorite! Love the rugs. I wish I had all of my husbands shirts now. 😢 Thanks for the great ideas. 😘-Tami

this makes me want to get a loom and start weaving
Love this idea. I was given 2 large totes of cloth “yarn” and giant crochet hooks from an estate where the woman crocheted rag rugs. I may take some and weave on my rigid heddle after watching this.
So fun and gorgeous without being too precious to use as a rug. Thinking of raiding the basement for supplies for sibling Christmas gifts
I just ordered a big order of Maysville cotton 😊from Great Northern Weaving and I told them that you referred me!
Reduce, reuse and recycle! I love that idea.
I don't have a loom, but I do have a rolling rack for hanging clothes. I saw a video on how to weave a rug with jeans on one, so I'm going to try it!
from Gerry- New projects are always exciting. They both look great! Makes me want to go through my old shirts. Have a blessed day!
Both are colorful. I also made a rug from cotton fabric I bought for 1€ per meter, which I cut into pieces. It's lots of fun. Have a nice week.
Awesome! You've inspired me to make a t-shirt rug! Maybe I'll check with goodwill to see if I can get t-shirts they can't sell.
That knotting is so smart, Trish. Thanks.
Wow, what a smart idea! I love the way you used up things that otherwise would have been thrown out!
Yep, another project on the list for me. 😂
I can't wait to buy a loom and make a rug or 2. Thanks for showing us.
AMAZING Video!!! Ty for sharing - gives me a lot to think about for even MORE crafting, lololol!
Fantastic, i'm sure i could find enough old T-shirts around here to make a rug. Thanks for the inspiration.
That was cool! Thanks for sharing. ❤
That is so cool and you have your memories that you will see every time you use it!
Ooh! I’m going to give that a go!!
I love the loop method! Going to have to try that
Awesome rug, you can never have enough rugs!
Love the rugs! Can’t wait to learn how to do all these fun things! Thank you for all you do. ❤
Love the rugs! I don’t know if I can make those on my loom. I would love to try! Thanks for sharing!
So much fun.
Watching you make these rugs almost makes me want to learn to weave. You inspire me.
Very cute rugs. I also like that t-shirts can be repurposed into something useful and practical. Thank you :)
Wow. Love them
Very cool idea! Gonna have to try that for sure
Your rugs look gorgeous.
...adding this project to future list to make....really cool!
I made all my strips this week, now just waiting for my loom! It is supposed to be here Wednesday. So excited can’t wait. Thank you so much for all your videos 💕
Good luck!
I’m so excited to watch this! I heard you can’t make rugs on the ridged heddle loom too, and I have a closet full of tee shirts ! ❤
Welcome! I also made a little one with denim from old jeans and it has held up beautifully. I love it. There's a video out here somewhere
Again, you've inspired me... Like I need another weaving project on my list... lol!! Love the rugs.
We have all hardwood floors also and I’m planning to make a front door runner on a peg loom with jeans. Now to finish making the peg loom 😬
I love the rug videos, they give me so many ideas.

I love the idea, would be great in our awning of our caravan.thank you for sharing your experience.
Love this idea thank you
Beautiful rugs! ❤
Beautiful!
I’ve been watching all the weaving videos you have to get ready for going and getting my loom!!! All your fun ideas like this are getting me so excited. ❤ You always give me such inspiration 😊
Oh my gosh is that old drafting vellum? My dad used to bring that home from work! It was the coolest drawing material!

Love Love Love This!!! i know what folks are getting for xmas this year lol
That sounds good. I don't think u need as much material using a heddle!
Awesome 🤩
Nice rugs!!
I have a few bags of t-shirts that I don't want to get rid of... I may take some convincing to cut them up but maybe a rug is in my future.
Stunning work Trish ❤
Love this and the colours are stunning 😊 You’ve inspired me to make a rug on my RHL too! 🥰
Great idea for using much loved T-shirts that you won’t wear again.
I like the second life of the T-shirts. But I wonder if you feel the knots under your feet?
What size heddle and is it done with a single warp or double. I have tried a rag rug on the RH yet only by twinning. Thank u! U got the creative juices flowing.
I love the rugs! How wide is your rigid heddle loom? You probably said but I am multi tasking as I watch.
My mother-in-law has these rugs that her mom made. This is my next project after the wash clothes. Thank you for sharing you have taught me a lot. What size heddle did you use?

You can get one right here! There are also quite a few other videos showing how to use it. bit.ly/45uAKXn
Total lightbulb moment for me watching this. I just just put down a store bought rug by our back door, but it’s a little too long for the space. Why don’t I just weave one? 🤦🏼♀️
The only heddles I currently have are the 7.5 that came with both my looms. Would that work on this, or would that be too close?
I made a rug using an 8 dent. Not as pretty as yours, but $65 plus shipping for a Kromski 24” 5 dent - ugh! Clever about the yoga mats.
Help! I need an intervention to stop me from wanting to get a loom. Fiber arts are a serious addiction!
Such a good way to use old shirts! Did you cut little loops from the t-shirt sleeves too?
Yes, there were smaller sleeve loops. I used every piece I could make into a loop
@@FiberLoveDiary that's awesome. Such a good way to upcycle old clothes
I wish I could warp that fast took me 4 HOURS to warp my rhythm for a wrap. Bad knee someone should warp for a living i would pay
Urgh, i really need a loom!! ...And an e-spinner ...And Time :facepalms:
