I hear you on that scale length issue. There on plenty of 34" B's that sound absolutely wonderful. Look at the Ibanez Soundgear line and Stingrays etc.
I like your bass's tone very much！It is so unique! I'm thinking of getting a MTD in th future, but I just don't know what top to choose. What top will creat a little less aggressive but a generally similarly clear and bright mids tone like yours?

If you're planning for a fretless, perhaps consider a Super 5/6 pickup config.
