Back when people chanted "Gyane chor desh chod," calling for King Gyanendra to leave the throne, many believed it was a step toward a better future. Now, years later, the king is still here, living comfortably without any worries. Meanwhile, the very people who fought for change, along with their children, are the ones leaving Nepal, searching for better opportunities abroad because they no longer see a future here. It’s ironic - the king may have lost his throne, but in the end, he’s the one who seems to have won.

Donations to Nepal was minimum and most of the people were imposing those rules. Then uprising started because of this, it's people who killed another people, not baburam killed everyone. @@Nep.Prazol Nepalese went to Lahore for army recruitment based on the three-party treaty between Nepal, India, and the British. Myanmar and Singapore also recruited from the British Army in Nepal. I think there is a lack of understanding about the youth drain in Nepal. More Nepalese youths are in Gulf countries than in the USA and Australia. Do you think Saudi laborers have a fancy lifestyle? This is one reason rural areas in Nepal have changed; these individuals send money back to their families.
The Maoists did not just have a negative impact; they had a 99 percent negative impact. They pushed this country back for 10 years or more with their wars, grounding it forever when they finally gained power. Of course, rural Nepal has changed, but using the same analogy, some native tribes in the Amazon jungle now wear t-shirts and pants. Do you think this is because someone waged a huge war, killing thousands? Seriously, are we sold on the untruthful chatter of these so-called revolutionaries? We have observed their dangerous lies from time to time. This country will wait for one generation, and if the situation does not improve, the current system and government will be brought to their knees on the streets.

A lot of errors-very disappointed with CNA. Firstly, the 40 pt demand of the Maoists was submitted to the elected PM Mr. Deuba in 1996 whose name is not even mentioned. Nowhere was it stated that they want monarchy removed in that list. Actually the Maoists wanted to work with the King to oust the parties before 2001. The arms were looted from the police but where did the ammunition come from? Total silence on the role of India in the whole thing-probably the documentary is shy to talk about India and the nexus with the Indian Naxals. Prachanda's interview is not there but over-glorification of Baburam. Even his childhood pic is shown. So sorry for CNA to have brought out this highly biased and one-sided documentary. There were several not just 1 NGO attempting for a peace process. Again, if it was so successful why was UNMIN told to leave unceremoniously?

As a Tibetan, I lived in Nepal during those political turmoil. From vantage point the entire coup was a classic case of Orwell’s “The Animal Farm”. My wish was thats Dalit and Indigenous communities would not involve in political mess as I knew it wouldn’t benefit them an ounce. Sadly they were peddled in the forefront of the movement. A mix of backlogs of classic Hindu Bahuns use of Dalits & indigenous communities to establish another Bahun dominance - I went back to Nepal in 2022 & was surprised to learn that - From the inception of referendum in Nepal, Nepal hasn’t seen a single Prime Minister from a Dalit or Indigenous communities. On positive note I saw more people from marginalized communities stepping forward, making marks - but the path moving forward won’t be easy for marginalized people as the merging of Bahuns from Nepal & Brahmins from India seem to align ideologically in establishing Nepal back to Hindu Nation. That will push Nepal back to square 1.

After the Monarchy was abolished, Nepal became a playground for all the political parties. Everyone wanted a peace of it. Unfortunately, that's still the case. We are being ruled by the same primitive people who were fighting against Monarchy. I have never supported killing people in the name of revolution and never will. I do not see Dr. Baburam and Prachanda as leaders of Nepal. Nor, that I like opposing parties for different reasons. Being said that, Nepal's fate could have changed drastically after the revolution but it all went downhill pretty quickly. To be fair, the majority of the people knew, they knew the "leaders" who were fighting against Monarchy weren't competent enough to carry forward. But, the hope was still there which later turned into disappointment. In all this, international governments and organisations are heavily involved, especially India but that's not up for public knowledge nor will be.

What can be said about a country like Nepal, whose economy relies heavily on agriculture, remittances, and tourism? The education system lacks quality, and there is minimal effort toward developing tourism or fostering innovation and manufacturing.
The country remains dependent on imported goods, including basic necessities like food, clothing and consumer goods, which is unsustainable and detrimental to long-term growth.
About 60-65% of Nepal's population is engaged in agriculture, yet it contributes less than 30% to the GDP, nearly 25-30% of Nepal's GDP comes from remittances

How maiost form and behind death of king??
During a visit to Nepal, Sonia Gandhi wanted to explore the entire Pashupatinath Temple. However, the guru did not allow her to enter the main gate due to her non-Hindu background and consumption of beef, although her husband, Rajiv Gandhi, was permitted. Rajiv requested an exception from the guru and temple authorities, but they remained firm. Later, Rajiv spoke with King Birendra, who explained that the temple was not under government control and suggested he speak to the guru, who was primarily from India. Frustrated and angry, Rajiv returned to India. A few days later, the Indian government imposed a blockade on Nepal, severely impacting its economy. This situation fueled both sides' egos, leading to a significant plan to undermine the monarchy and the Hindu state. They supported the formation of various rebel groups against the monarchy, including the Maoist rebels, providing them with funding and weapons. The Indian government at that time, particularly the RAW and the Congress party, played a crucial role in the events leading to the king's death.

The characters that have spoken here are the designer of the state that Nepal is in. Most of the planning never took this nation interest to heart. It was initiated by those interested to pacify, promote foreign agenda and look relevant to service they were under. Whole Maoist agenda was misguided but they colluded with agents anti-thesis to their core values which they sold to vulnerable population who were slaughtered. The bottom line is Nepal is no better than it was and now even its existence is an open question.

With each revolution comes a mix of progress and pain, and whether it was right or wrong is open to individual interpretation. So, to answer the question "Was the violence necessary?" - Certainly not. But when asking, "Would other alternatives have guaranteed the same outcome?" - we simply don't know.
And to still have some sympathy for the monarchy is understandable as it represented a long-standing institution deeply embedded in nepal's cultural and historical identity. But the fact is that monarchy was not the best rule for the Nepalese and will never be. The sayings goes "The only alternative to democracy is democracy itself"

Democracy is neither best nor worse. Each system of governance tries to fill the gap created by another but always ends up creating another gap. Additionally, I won't call that movement a REVOLUTION when the "revolted" one exert power on innocents. I'm no admirer of monarchy either but you look naive calling out democracy a better system of governance than others. Which it's clearly not.

Through Peaceful Protest like Mathatma Gandhi Can't you get Democracy? All country protest and massive rally against nepal monarchial and huge protest should have been enough to pressurized king and demolished monarchy system. Democracy is very important in all country . Currently , we will support monarchy if only leader is educated , ambitious , smart like Balen Shah , Rabi Lamichhane.

Even though their ideology might be corrupted & irrelevant now, But initially they did what every citizen frustrated from the system dreams of & to be able to make it possible seems unimaginable & remarkable, but after Democracy "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." Everyone struggles for power after they get a taste of it.
But Ideologies changes with needs along time & so should the "System". The System might always fail but the Country shouldn't.

As per my understanding, maoists did have some positive impacts in the life of backward and marginalized people in the beginning but foreign powers wanted their puppet leaders in Nepal. They killed the king and his family as the Royal Family was an obstacle to those foreign powers. Later they used maoist leaders as their puppets to influence the development of constitution in Nepal but things didn't go as per their plan and they started changing their support from maoist to other parties. Corruption, mismanagement and political instability has destroyed the country and sadly most of the maoist fighters who fought at the ground level are working in Gulf countries under strict Monarchy.

Looking at the current situation in nepal . it doesn't matter whether there is monarchy or democracy . From top to bottom there is corruption and all youths are flying aboard for their future . Unemployment is at it's peak , many degree holders are unemployed in nepal , there's nothing to say about those who doesn't has degree and has not any educational background. Political parties are just fighting for the power and chair each and everyday in their political career .
We have prime minister who has a kidney failure and got replaced few years ago . instead of dying or taking retirement he has become prime minister of our country . As of right now he is building his new party office instead of helping peoples who was affected by flood.

Let’s elect the good people in democracy. The system of monarchy can not be imagined in todays world because we all are liberated to become the president and pm of Nepal if we desire.
A kid living in any corner of Nepal can imagine to become the president or pm of Nepal. This is democracy.
So far, we have elected wrong people.
For example, after constitution was promulgated, OLi was not supposed to become the Pm knowing that he is zero about how to lead modern Nepal.
    Now Balen is coming.
Many more are about to come.
The Nepal’s history about Monarchy- their system, their authority and all- they never thought People they only took advantage of the the poverty, illiteracy and innocence to reign over them.
Maoist dismantled and brought this system and with out becoming sentimental, let’s support modern political system. Let’s advance the system.
Let’s go for the directly elected system.
Monarchy could not develop the country over 240 years and we can not blame republican state within 15 years.
    We have better days ahead.

India, king conversation with Maoist nothing is mention properly. too much biased documentary. total rubbish... no single party can take credit for the republic or demolished of the king. King, other parties and Maoist each one of them had their own selfish motive but in that process king got outplayed by these parties (btw both king did worse) and obviously with some benefits they agreed. and still Nepalese fanatic mindset towards political parties and worship culture has made Nepal worse than ever.

Such a biased documentary CNA, when 3 sides are involved in the conflict, how dare u present only the 2 sides? Where is the palace version in this?? Or is this your way of just getting sponsorship and advertisements??
Ofcourse, winners write history in their own version but in Nepal after living so many years under the so called federal secular republic, every Nepali feels that this is a totally failed system for Nepal & Baburams' hypothesis was totally wrong...what this country needs is a ceremonial king, directly elected prime minister and restoration of Hindu kingdom. The west, UN and other foreign players can debate hours over this but at the end political parties, maiost won and Nepal lost....... just ask any random Nepali in the streets atm, they will answer u...but don't be biased!!
I just wonder whats' happened to those innocent, school going village cadets of maiost who gave up their youth n future to jump into the propaganda of maiost of a Shangrila for them...where r they now??.... probably in the heat of middle east working as cheap labours.....
