- Awka and Asaba are both cities located in Nigeria. Awka is located in Anambra State, while Asaba is located in Delta State. Awka is situated in the southeastern part of Nigeria, while Asaba is located in the south-south region. Both cities were made their states capitals the same day on 27th August, 1991.

@@YangaLife The true is that we have not had a Governor in Anambra that will remap the whole of Awka and redevelop it to be a true capital city that we can be proud of just like other capital cities like Portharcourt, Uyo and ikeja. Till then Asaba is still ahead.
Finally, you have decided and you know your reasons. So far more viewers are standing with Asaba on their choice.
The point is, which among the two meets the standard of a good city or non. And which of them will you prefer and not talking about revenue generation.
Revenue generation can be an additional information but the focus is on the physical structure. After all both cities have the capacity to establish standard infrastructure comfortably.

My state capital Awka, has nothing to write home about. Is always the Enugu -Onitsha express Road.

IFEXBABA, The ones that are not under Construction how market? And for how long? We are talking about standard good roads with features of a good road don't forget. Consider these things when saying that a road is under Construction. Pedestrian, bicycles, have their right of way. We must provide it for them. A functional drainage system and not just digging gutters. Hope you get the point? The two cities are lacking such in that regards.
Desmond, is it that you don't read comment before replying? "... non of these cities provided these standard infrastructure" is a simple explanation and not vague. Not neglecting the fact that some other people will have contrary opinion.
In terms of housing and others Awka has it more than asaba , but Asaba is well planned and very neat, what Awka needs good roads,

FedEx, you know Igbos travel alot. Meanwhile Awka is not developed by Awka people alone but majorly by other Anambra people and others. These people are investors. Asaba is close to Onitsha and therefore many Igbo guys lives in Asaba and do their business in Onitsha on daily basis.

That is, the public roads in Awka, Ziks Avenue the longest road in Awka has a work way.
But I must add that the walk ways we have in those cities are substandard. Just a covered drainage converted walkway

Infrastructural, security, neatness and beautiful is ASABA..the worst thing ever happened to Ndi Anambra was Obiano, he set Anambra state 20 years back, that's ëkwënsü ga eji kpo ya ökù forever... My brother Obiano squander all Peter Obi savings over 75 billions of naira and 50 millions of dollars all in cash, then he put over 130 billions of naira in debt for ñdi Anambra state..the airport he built should cost like 20 billion naira, because Dave umahi built first class super Airport that is far costlier in every aspect with only 36 billions of naira, after all he might added ooo. Mind you that only Anambra IGR is more than enough to do everything.. without the federal allocation. Asaba is city
Some have said that and some refused.
The only difference in the two cities are road infrasture the roads in Asaba are well planned very spacious 80% of roads in Asaba are all dual carriage ways unlike Awka that 80% are all single carriage ways.
Chinonso, if you really observed the two cities, you will still see that Awka still have a good number of dual carriageway within the city. What happens to other criteria?

You are doing a good job, but the truth is that Nigeria is a failed state because nothing is working, and nothing is gotten by due process. Look at how bump is littered every roads. In civilised world when you come in residential area's you drive 50km . But in Nigeria reverse is the case because driving licences are sold with out the obtainee have any knowledge of driving. To shorten the story, everything is wrong because those that will fix Nigeria are not in the system.
