Hi Pierre, some notes for you: 1. Billboard Philippines is celebrating its first anniversary this October, so they were holding a series of interviews with Filipino artists. This one with BINI and SB19 wraps up the series. The host, Bret Jackson, used to be a housemate on Pinoy Big Brother and is now the editor-in-chief of Billboard Philippines. 2. As the oldest person in this group, Josh really showed that wise "kuya" vibe here especially when he recognized BINI making it and when he said PPop cannot simply be replicated. Josh is usually the SB19 member who tries to establish a connection with up and coming PPop groups that they meet in events, as in the case of Alamat during the 2021 PhilKor Fest (vlog in Alamat's channel). BTW, there's also a video of Josh dancing Cherry on Top with some of the girls, because they taught him the moves. :) 3. It's true that they are all comfortable with one another and the mutual respect and admiration shows. Outside of their respective groups, some of them have worked together on other projects. Justin is the director of the MV of Cup of Joe's "Misteryoso" where Jhoanna was featured as the main actress. Pablo and Colet share the same birthday (with a seven-year gap between them), which might be something that adds to the ease in their interactions. Maloi's province Batangas is right next to Pablo's province Cavite, which might also explain why Pablo was kind of all smiles when Maloi said she can't sing in her dialect (Batangas Tagalog). Pablo should be very familiar with how it sounds. 4. SB19 has not worked with Rick Rubin yet. Ken was just quoting what Rick Rubin said in an interview that the audience comes last in making his art. 5. Traditional attire for Filipino men does not involve skirts. This is totally Pablo's fashion choice and he rocks it every single time. Sadly, there's still a prevailing, backward way of thinking here at home that real men don't wear skirts, don't wear makeup and shouldn't be emotional. Beyond breaking barriers in music, SB19 is breaking toxic mindsets about what masculinity is, and I truly admire them for it. From their first collaboration "Kabataang Pinoy" to this. The boys and the girls have really come a long way. I hope they remain in good health and in good spirits since they have been so busy this year, and the year isn't over yet. Like you, I also just started listening to them just a few months ago and I'm so glad to have found them. I know you said you gravitate towards girl groups more, but I hope you can also find time to react to SB19 again. :) Thanks again for the wonderful reaction video and for appreciating Filipino talent! I hope you enjoy the Philippines in November. :)
Let's GO SBINI19!!! I hope its not only Ppop but everything like arts, music, movies, sports and other forms of being a Pinoy Pride!!! This is what Francis M and the other artists who passed away want us to be as Filipinos. Let's unite and stop the toxicity! LFG!!!
i am touched with what Josh said to the girls, who's tearing up haha. thank you for appreciating Bini. Also, SB19 ofcourse one of the OG's i'm proud of you too 🫶
The good thing about our PPop artists is it is their priority and goal to promote the Filipino culture to the world 😊 So kudos to Bini and SB19 for opening the door for our country in the world stage 😊
You are right Pierre, if you're a fan of pop music from other countries, seeing SB19 and Bini together is truly something we are not familiar with. However, it's refreshing in a way that it opens doors for everyone. Here, SB19 and Bini standing together, doing interview in one go, just shows that they are a fan of each others group. No need for fan wars. Let us support them. Let us love them and their music, because only the heaven knows until when this will last. I am grateful that we are witnessing an evolution in pop music. All hail to SBINI19!
getting better with the pronunciation and intonations pierre!!! you understood stell right. mirror of life. represents, depicts the normal life of filipinos
BS19 nd other p-pop has earned revenue of 77million dollars or 18.1 billion pesos. Revenue from Spotify, conceerts, hotels, flighs, product endorsement, foods demand during concert.. na made worldwide tourism every time sb19 gonna have a concert.
Yes Pierre that's the style of SB19 PABLO, he wear just like that even when they are on concerts and interviews, and he nailed it right! They are not the covers of many magazines for no reason... Thanks for pointing this out...
Hi Pierre! Now that you've seen this video, I think it's about time for you to deep dive into other groups as well, to further understand the PPop scene more. In my opinion, Alamat and G22 are the two groups on the rise. Both groups also have their own uniqueness that you'll surely enjoy. P.S. To those who are fans of other groups that I did not mention, don't get mad at me. 😂 I'm well aware of other talented PPop groups out there, let's take it one step at a time.
And I have watched one Alamat video - Maharani .... the one with Jhoanna in it. It was cool, I just haven't had the time yet to dive further.... G22 was more important to me then.... Jaz :) :)
Magandang umaga Pierre! Mikha's clothes, boots and hair match! I can't see the details but I bet her lipstick matches too! Next level mix & matching! 😮 Magaling na reakyon kaibigan! Ipagpatuloy mo!
Wearing skirt over jeans is not a thing here in PH. It's just Pablo's style esp during their concerts or performances, it became his trademark and he rocks it everytime. Some may find it weird but i love his uniqueness and authenticity. Nobody does it like him 😍😎🫶🏻 thank you for this reaction 🫶🏻 stan SBINI19
you're right about the translation on ppop mirroring life. There's a more accurate translation/subtitle provided in the original video of the interview.
Thank you for whoever subbed this. Missed translations are understandable, but there's just one that is totally unacceptable for me which creates a negative impact. The part where Pablo said, "You DON'T need to fake it" suddenly became "You NEED to fake it", which is the complete opposite of what Pablo said. Pablo is an advocate of becoming true to yourself and he doesn't even want to be called an "idol" because he is human with imperfections and just wanted to be true to who he really is. I hope that the translator or whoever subbed this just made an honest mistake.
re your question abour pablo wearing a skirt: yes, it is a style choice! if you actually look at some of their old performances and interviews, even during their concerts and promotional materials (an example would be pagtatag), he would wear long skirts. :)
I love how Ken also promotes his native tongue, Bisaya, in his songs as Felip. It would be amazing if Bisaya, along with Tagalog, became popular worldwide throug PPOP ❤
Love this interview so nice seeing SB19 and Bini together, I had fun watching this ❤ they are really inspring 🥰 I soo love stacey in this interview she is so witty and funny that's why she's my bias she is so positively funny and inspiring ❤and I soo love that my bias in SB19 Ken is sitting beside my bias in Bini they look good together❤
Question about Pablo's wearing dress like over his pants: Yes Pierre it's a style/ fashion trends here in the Philippines. Some men's also wearing crop top. More on fashion.
Thank you for reacting sir some of the subtitle is a little misleading or wrong , so be careful like in 37minutes when Pablo said “you need to fake it” He didn’t say you need to fake it What he reall said is (you don’t need to fake it) Could be typo error but anyway We love you sir Pierre we appreciate you a lot
Actually, if during 90's there were already platforms like RUclips, TikTok and more, I am sure OPM will also reign globally. Filipino songs have been really something back then. Also the most viewed on RUclips music video could be Backstreet Boys, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears if that time RUclips already existed 😁
My biggest takeaway from this interview is Ken's input about artists being themselves and not allowing people to manipulate them. Artist's management do a lot of shady things pitting talents against each other that's why there are fan wars and abuse with signed talents. I have witnessed this time and again and as an A'tin I'm happy SB19 is now self managed and are allowed artistic freedom. P-pop will definitely rise if artists themselves remain steadfast and stay united. Like Pablo said, fans are not stupid. A big wave will lift all ships.
Don't forget MNL48 who introduced IDOLS in the Philippines and got clobbered mostly by the negativity of the Filipinos towards IDOL culture. Actually, because of MNL48 that I get to know PPOP.
I hope for those toxic fans on both fandom to just love them both and stop the hate I personally witness the hate I'm both a fan of them and every time I check my feeds on Social media there is always a craze delusional fan on both sides telling crazy made up stories just to discredit and spread malicious gossip on both groups. Spread the Ppop rise not hate.
Rick Rubin, one of the greatest producers. He can go from one genre to another. He worked with Metallica and Jay-Z, musical acts which genres are so opposite.
regarding the other languages aside from Filipino 1. The host used "dialect" but the answers did correctly use the word "language" instead, those are two technical linguistic terms that mean different things. Bisaya is a language just like Filipino or English. A lot of people incorrectly use "dialect" for other languages in the Philippines because a lot of the printed books used in school have this misinformation and for most people never got corrected. A dialect is a variation within language and one important factor between dialects is called mutual intelligibility, meaning 1 dialect should be able to understand another dialect. For example, Aiah is from Cebu while Colet is from Bohol, they both speak Bisaya but have different dialects (assuming they use the same dialects as their hometowns), so Aiah would be speaking Cebuano while Colet would be speaking Boholano however because they are both dialects under Bisaya, Coley and Aiah can understand each other. An example of dialects for English would be American English vs British English, while there might be a difference of terms used, in general an American English speaker can understand a British English speaker and vice-versa. Contrast this to someone speaking Filipino who would not be able to understand anyone who speaks Bisaya, they are 2 different languages in the same way Filipino and English are different languages. 2. You have heard a few songs from other languages in the opm covers video. "Balay ni Mayang" by Kyle Wong and Martina San Diego is Bisaya while "Porque" by Maldita is Chavacano (a Filipino language with Spanish roots)
Pls. React to "Paubaya" music video by Moira Dela Torre introducing Actors Joshua Garcia and Julia Barreto a real life couple but broke up in 2019, and the 2 hav no closure at that time until they match up again in Music Video of Moira "Paubaya" in 2021 and at the end of mv their conversation they said is their closure without script (unscripted)
