As parent , my wish for my daughter wanting her happiness, healthy and blessings with love. No matter what is her decision to stay, or work and settle down, we would continue to respect and support. Just want her happy. Thank Irene for sharing. Lovely parents of yours………Wish them healthy and happy always. ❤️🔥
It is really sweet of you to bring your parents to singapore to see how you live. I hope they are reassured that you are safe and ok. Good daughter! Thank you.
Thank you and your parents for sharing these vids about their first visit to Sg. You’re a wonderful daughter showing and planning the itineraries to show case our clean and beautiful country 😁
In the seventies and eighties, we as reservists, used the vehicles in the duck tours for amphibious assault excercises. Yes, Irene's father was right, they were military vehicles before.
This is just for reference purpose only. 1987 - I worked in Japanese company (2 years work permit), applied for Singapore PR, rejected. 1988 joined Seagate and got 3 years work permit. Applied for PR again, approved and got the brown card can stay in Singapore as long as my permit is valid. 1991 - joined Cisco auxiliary police. My officer told me to go to Singapore ICA. I got my blue ic. Changed to pink Ic in 1995. I think if you joined MNC that is based in Singapore, your chances will increase.
Show them the rental HDB flats in Tampines. It will blow their mind how our low income citizens have access to such flats without having to wait too long. Our government here really looks after the poor here.
Thank you Irene for being such a wonderful host to your parents and a great ambassador for Singapore :) it's great that your parents have enjoyed their stay here!
In the past, for numerous years, residents do not have a part in the paint color of the hdb flats. You can check with the older folks, eg 40 years and above, in S'pore. The option to select only began to start in recent years.
As a Singaporean who has lived in HK for decades, the major difference between Singapore & HK MRT / MTR is the quietness of passengers in the train (MRT) in Singapore compared to HK. Usually when you take the MTR in HK, there's people talking loudly on the phones or to his/ her friend (s) or people listening to radio/ music / voice messages on their phones, or playing games loudly on their phones. And, the children can be found playing in the MTR, doing monkey bars or climbing up on the seats, etc ... Such scenes or behaviours, you can hardly find in the MRT of Singapore. Similarly comparison for bus in Singapore & HK.
Well chinese are loud speaking people and most of them have kind heart and the saying goes dont judge a book by it cover ....I guess every country have their pros and cons ...
Well, spore mrt is getting noisier day by day. You can hear many foreign people talking loudly in the train and old "uncles" (usually) playing loud music from their cell phones. 😂
u have been so lucky that u are able to live in singapore. i have been to singapore many times and how i wish i can stay there for long. i love how singapore so neat and clean. i love the singaporen food. how i wish i can spend a long long vacation in singapore and try out all the singaporean food. tell singapore i love her
@@nntflow7058 as someone who had lived in both, Hong Kongers have to be careful what they wished for. Modern China modelled after LKY's Singapore, why do Hong Kongers think the Singapore model of governance suits them?

Singapore HDB flat changes throughout the history of Singapore. I think in the early 60s to 70s, the most famous is 10 storey HDB flat. Shop houses come with 1 unit of living area at storey 2, there are unit in storey 3 to 4, mostly 3 bedroom. I think in the 80s, we have 20-22 storey HDB flat. Currently, from what I know there are few 40 storey HDB flats. Changes due to increase of population and limited land space.
Some of the HDBs are shorter (1) older or (2) near an airport where planes take off so they can't build it too high! The taller HDBs that are further away are at places like Clementi and Toa Payoh. The rooftop that your parents were asking about at Duxton @ Pinnacle is a sky garden! Can see fireworks on New Year's day but limited to residents only. On normal days, I think u can pay a small sum to enter! The newer HDBs are quite pretty too, look similar to condo design haha. Residents get to vote for the colour of the flats every 5 years :)
some HDB flats are short (10 to 12 storey) because of height restriction for aeroplanes. Hougang, yishun, tampines. most tall like 20-40 stories can be found in west and central areas..
your parents are thinking that if you got married in SG they may want to help you buy flat here, that's why they are always interested in the public housing. you should bring them past those new estates in Tampines where you stay, they look similar to the condos beside them.
You can even take a bus ride to Johor Bahru in neighboring Malaysia all you need is a valid passport or a ferry ride from Tanah Merah Terminal to Batam and Bintan Islands in Indonesia's Riau Archipelago.
Irene, Guess you have yet to visit Dawson Rd/Dawson Place at Queenstown (near Queenstown Station). There is few HDB DBSS flats at Dawson Rd/Dawson Place as impressive as Tanjong Pagar HDB DBSS Pinnacle. The flats were built next to the canal with canal connector leading to Clarke Quay. Some flat also has sky garden on high floor level and has a good view of Singapore too. No admission fee needed to go to the sky garden as long as we do not to create nuisance, no one will chase us away😂. Besides Dawson Place, nearby also have some impressive 2-yr old 40+ level HDB flats which were built to accommodate residents from 60-yr old enbloc flats at Tanglin Halt. Do find time to explore the west
1:23 auntie and uncle are really lucky, the dbl deck public bus with headrest seats that they boarded was a demonstrator (aka sample/prototype of a new variant or model) given by MAN to LTA.. 平时公共巴士的座位是普通的平面肩行少‘肉’的bucket seat,有headrest的可说是千里挑一

Hi I want to visit Hong Kong but don’t know how to get around and where to find nice food. Hope you will do a video on hk like what you did about singapore. Thanks. Good video.
Sorry about the last part when some lady said Singapore is more fun than Hong Kong. We shouldn't compare as our lifestyle and culture have so much differences yet some similairity. "Fun" is base on each of each own. It a shame that there are many grown up still dunno how to talk. Great that your parent enjoyed their stay in Sg.
You mentioned the color of the outside is chosen by the residents like every 10/20 years. I supposed you are referring to the re-painting of the blocks. They are actually re-painted every 7 years.
Actually HDB in Singapore should compare with HK's 居屋。compare with 公屋 is not a fair comparison, as these HDB are sell to the owner, not renting like公屋 in HK.
Glad your parents enjoyed their stay here, hope they’ll travel more into Southeast Asia, as Singapore is very similar to the developed areas in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and the Philippines. Same weather, climate and even people. ❤

Singapore's MRT trains uses an electrified third rail same type used in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta.
