One of the more popular fan theories for why Jotaro is a complete jackass, especially to his mother, is that he's most likely lashing out against those around him. The fan theory roughly goes like this: Jotaro had to deal with a lot of bullying in the past for a couple of reasons. Firstly his height. Even by Western standards Jotaro is freakishly tall and kids will always pick on others with abnormalities and I mean being 6'4" at 17 in Japan is pretty abnormal. Secondly, racism. (A big difference in severity i know). People forget that he's mixed race in a country where nearly everyone is the same race and Japan isn't exactly the most tolerant place on the planet, especially in the 80s. This is all in spite of the fact that Jotaro considers himself Japanese first and foremost. There is also the fact that he has an absent father (we don't even know what he looks like) which is never a good thing. Jotaro probably just snapped one day after getting bullied one too many times and pinned all the blame for his bullying on his mother since the reasons for the bullying comes from her side of the family and she was an easy target.
I think this theory is way too overdramatic in response for a oversensitive reaction like "jackass"? Really? Jotaro is just a tsundere, that's it. It's not really so complicated. Also he don't have a absent father, the dude was just working. And Jotaro never had daddy issues.

Fyi the Stands being tied to Breathing thing will be dropped very soon after the begining. The writer basically wanted to tie Stands to Breathing like Hamon at first but quickly decided against it to allow for more interesting fights in scenarios where someone wouldn't breathe, like underwater or while being choked
Jojo's Bizzare Adventure manga first arrived at 1987 with Part 1: Phantom Blood. In March of 1989, first chapter of Part 3: Stardust Crusaders aired, introducing "Stands". Guess how many series took the idea of stands further to make their own power systems.
It should be noted that Jotaro never calls his mother a "bitch" in the Japanese original. He calls her "kono baba", which I guess would roughly translate to "You old woman/bag". But of course "bitch" just sounds better to the english ear. Or reads better, I reckon.

@@geschnitztekiste4111 isn’t spirit hamon exactly that though? Hamon as a spirit. Jotaro in the games (even though no one takes the game as canon), Jotaro explains to Jonathan that a stand is hamon taking form
Okay, I just wanted to clarify since a lot of people don't know this, but Araki confirmed that DIO made a bottom compartment for the Casket beneath the red section. There is also most likely a bottom hatch, which is how he could have escaped without Erina noticing his presence. She was found in the Canary Islands, hence that is why the casket is in the ocean surrounding the Canary Islands. Also, Jotaro has a good heart, he's like a tsundere, he doesn't open up. Also, Joseph's stand reveals the truth, whether that be a map layout of a location, what is going on on the other side of a door, etc. It shows what is happening. And that stand DIO is using isn't Joseph's, it is Johnathan's stand. The whole family, other than Jotaro, has a similar stand.
And another clarification, his stand isn't to use pictures or puppets, he just did that to look cool. Another thing is that I highly recommend reading the english lyrics to the intro. Both intros to part 3 are a ballad, which is a song that tells the story so far and/or the story to come. That's why I love the Part 3 openings so much.
Part 3 is where I started. A friend forced me to watch it because I used to absolutely swear I would never watch it but she convinced me to watch just one Part and this is her favorite. To clear up some confusion most stands are only visible to stand users but some can be seen by non stand users like stands bound to an object which you'll see soon also the reason stands can interact with physical objects despite what was stated in the episode is because stands are able to change how tangible they are as they can phase through things but also become solid to attack or defend the description in the show is a bit difficult to understand probably because of translation

So Contrary to popular opinion i perfer Part 3 over part 4 (part 5 is still my personal favorite though), and its mainly cause, unlike alot of people who see it as a grind, which, the anime certainly is as it adds so much filler in certain episodes (there are no filler episodes, just unnecessary padding in episodes that weren't there in the manga), but IMO, i see it as an episodic adventure that you really need to look at as an adventure of expierences instead of just going from Point A to Point B. I love part 3, Jotaro is my favorite, and will always be one of my favorite JoJos.
Okay so stands are physical manifestations of your fighting spirit and all have weirdly specific special and/or situational abilities! Only stand users can see other stands (except for when they don't), only stands can harm other stands (except for when they don't), and all damage done to a stand will reflect the user (except for when they don't)!
Jotaro has always been the nice guy he just feels that needs to show that he is strong, my guess why he became like that because his dad is barely there so he had to have this upfront to show that he isn't weak, his mom knows that, Jotato barely shows emotion or at least expresses himself little because he thinks people understand it just like his mom and any more extra is a waste of time that's why he is kind of an asshole from the outside view.
You said Joseph's stand isn't that impressive like Jotaro's or Avdol's, but he was "destinated" to have it since Battle Tendency. Remember the "Your next line will be..." thing? If the characters of these season were to travel to the past, they would see Young Man Joseph using his stand while doing that.
In the next opening, it will be sang by the ones who did each of the first three openings. I REALLY hope you realize that when the time comes or you read this.

What are you talking about? The part 3 is great.
@@scottchaison1001 I never said it wasnt
Welcome to the world o Jojo, my friend. You're hooked now, only way out is in a two compartment ornate coffin floating in the ocean.
Kinda crazy how in Part 1 Erina escaped in Dio's coffin with Dio right next to her
Yare yare... So we're starting Part 3 already...
Bro I just started part 3 as well, I literally stopped watching it because I saw your opening reactions and now I’m watching your other fire videos 🔥
Right before part 6 release this is just the hype I needed
samee
So Contrary to popular opinion i perfer Part 3 over part 4 (part 5 is still my personal favorite though), and its mainly cause, unlike alot of people who see it as a grind, which, the anime certainly is as it adds so much filler in certain episodes (there are no filler episodes, just unnecessary padding in episodes that weren't there in the manga), but IMO, i see it as an episodic adventure that you really need to look at as an adventure of expierences instead of just going from Point A to Point B. I love part 3, Jotaro is my favorite, and will always be one of my favorite JoJos.
I agree with every part of this, except part 3 IS my favourite.
BRO BE GUESSING THE WHOLE SHOW LIKE DAMN CHILL
Okay so stands are physical manifestations of your fighting spirit and all have weirdly specific special and/or situational abilities! Only stand users can see other stands (except for when they don't), only stands can harm other stands (except for when they don't), and all damage done to a stand will reflect the user (except for when they don't)!
Jotaro has always been the nice guy
he just feels that needs to show that he is strong, my guess why he became like that because his dad is barely there so he had to have this upfront to show that he isn't weak,
his mom knows that, Jotato barely shows emotion or at least expresses himself little because he thinks people understand it just like his mom
and any more extra is a waste of time that's why he is kind of an asshole from the outside view.
lesgoooo thats where real shit starts
Part 3 for me has some of the highest highs of Jojos, but also the lowest lows. Excited for you to see the good parts!
Why "the lowest lows"? Part 3 is great.
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THISSSS YESSS
stands are basically just a physical manifestation of your fighting spirit. yes, if they die you also die and if they take damage so do you.
everyone: reacting to part 6
mattyice: reacts to part 3
keep up the jojo vids homie!!!
Part 3 is the best part of Jojo that's animated
part 3 goes hard 🔥
You said Joseph's stand isn't that impressive like Jotaro's or Avdol's, but he was "destinated" to have it since Battle Tendency. Remember the "Your next line will be..." thing? If the characters of these season were to travel to the past, they would see Young Man Joseph using his stand while doing that.
Kakyoins jotaro painting is so funny lmao
PART 3 HERE WE GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Just noticed that Joseph wears the redstone of aja
He literally guessed everything 'bout stands he said the users take damage that they are your will and etc damn he understands
then the show presented it it well
since it is a "show and then tell"
not "tell" like written books
In the next opening, it will be sang by the ones who did each of the first three openings. I REALLY hope you realize that when the time comes or you read this.
This dude got what stands are sooo fast lmao
“Nobody talks much about part 3”
…
*Part 3 literally being the most popular part in the whole series*
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR ILY BBG
PAUSE
lets goo he finally watched it
14:04 Ain't no way you just flat out said that
Jotaro mentality: To defeat a scumbag I must become the scumbag
He is not a scumbag though
Fun fact: Hermit Purple is actually Jonathons stand but was given to Joseph instead, i can’t explain too much because of spoilers but yeah. i’ve heard a lot of theories that Jonathons stand was Hermit Purple, so if anybody disagrees i’d like to let you know that’s how i agree with this
12:06 yup now you are true JoJo fan!
Bro your observation is fuckin insane
Matty I think you should seek out blu-ray version of the episodes cause the censorship can get really annoying at times
Your reaction are the best on RUclips, let’s say that.
The Stand can be your soul
My theory
the way you can get stands are 2 ways born with a stand or get it with a arrow
Puberty was kind to Jotaro and he give everyone the finger. Ha!
A stand is basically the personification of your fighting spirit and soul, or like you said will, and yes if it takes damage you the user takes damage as well. It's also called "spirit hamon" in the manga I'm pretty sure, but don't @ me on that lmao
Hypeeee!
Don’t get attached to the nice animation. It’s the first episode so they spent more on it lol
LES GOOOOOO
