Venus is trying, but age is unforgiving! I see that her body no longer responds to fast balls. Anyway, bravo Venus for playing at this age with that desire, but honestly, the wildcard should have gone to a young, unranked player.
I think it’s extremely selfish of Venus to be taking a wildcard spot from up and coming younger generation of tennis players. What’s she doing out there? She has zero chance of winning the event. She isn’t even an active tennis player anymore. If she still wants to compete then do it like everyone else. The match ended exactly how you would think, she couldn’t last more than 1 set.
If only tennis were a game you could stand at one spot at the baseline and keep hitting the groundstrokes Venus would have won this match because as much as the score line told up until the end Hibino didn't play that well.
- Venus should’ve retired after USO 2023. - She’s good for 1-2 rounds and out. - Her record since 2020 is 5 wins against 19 losses. - Give the wildcard entry to more deserving players than one ranked No. 487.
Whilst I support Venus’ decision to continue playing she’s nowhere near the level she once was. In her prime she was arguably the fastest most athletic, most powerful athlete the game had ever seen. Her mental fortitude and champion mentality is what set her and her sister apart. In her prime she would rival her sister and you’d marvel at the tennis that these women produced.
The organizers of this tournament should be ashamed of themselves by giving Williams a wildcard entry. She is passed her best and she must go and enjoy her retirement. That wildcard spot should of been given to an up and rising young player.
This is waste of wild card. She is not playing and competing anywhere other than here and there. The wild cards events like should go to up and coming players. Venus has had time in the sun; it’s time to retire for good.
I watched the whole match and sadly Venus, despite her desire to continue playing, is just a aging shadow of her former self. It was embarrassing. She needs to join the senior events that are played and have fun there.
She is not yet married nor she have a kid. TBH she was past prime since the beginning of 2010. Frankly her legacy will not be tarnished because - 1) She is Serena's sister 2) she is American & most importantly 3) she is black. Otherwise if she happened to be a blonde girl born outside of USA have done this then the whole world (even many from tennis fraternity) would make a joke on her but nobody from tennis fraternity would questioned her yet because they would be called racist.
Wow Queen Vee still playing well at the age of 45. This is amazing! She played so well after not playing for so long. Congratulations 👏🏾 ❤️ Sadly ran out of gas in that 3ed.set.
I'm not condoning gambling in any way but if there was ever a really good bet to do it would have been at the stage Hibino was around 2/1 to come back and win this match. Sadly I couldn't do it but as limited as she is, she is a very consistent player and a fighter. Her coming back against a player of Williams' age and lack of fitness/matches was always likely. I hope some of you guys backed Hibino.
Comments section didn't disappoint 😂😂 What on earth is Venus Williams doing! Organizers should be embarrassed for robbing a deserving younger player of a chance in the tournament
If u ask me I suggest Venus should focus on doubles. She is a great doubles player and can still win some majors in this category. As a singles player she should just forget it. Age has taken a good toll on her. She is simply a shadow of herself right now.
Hibino played really well in the second set - her first serve and service returns were really strong...but I was not expecting a bagel in the third. I thought Venus might at least hold serve for a few games but all those extended rallies eventually broke her down 😓
This is just sad to watch. She has had a tremendous career. Better than the vast majority of players, never mind internet nobody commenters. And yet, I cant help but think, why? What does she have to prove? She could easily spend her time coaching, doing YT videos, etc, and still be around the sport, helping a LOT of young players come through. She could manage players if she wanted to. I just dont understand playing against pro's, when she has zero chance to win any more titles. She's just getting older, and slower. Things wont be getting any better from here, and will only get worse. Then there's the matter of her blocking potential young players coming up. Imagine if some great junior prospect could have played, what a thrill that would be for some young kid? And to be denied by some over the hill past champion who doesnt know when its time to shuffle off quietly into the night and enjoy a well deserved retirement. So sad.
For respect sake, Venus should retire, her time was done period. What's she trying to prove? Is she happy about consolation prize Huh! She should have enough money to retire. Just give it to the younger incoming players.
Why let her play and take points, positioning and money away from struggling players...??? The William's sister's have always thought they are special and owed... Go do your designing and do other small tournaments...or does she still crave undeserved attention.. Never a fan of hers ever.
It is sad to see experienced players keep playing while they far pass their prime time. A lot of their loss is like they dominate the 1st set using their good experience but they collapsed on 2nd set and eventually lost 3rd set by large margin.

@@seensay2132losing first round in every tournament doesn't mean retire in your own terms.🤣🤣
Indian Wells 2025:
Mastermind Tommy Haas gives Margaret Court a wildcard
and Billie Jean King will be able to use her protected ranking from 1978.
😂😂😂
What is she trying to prove?
She should retire.
She ain't beating any one.
Well she had a autoimmune disease that makes her tired at random times
- Venus should’ve retired after USO 2023.
- She’s good for 1-2 rounds and out.
- Her record since 2020 is 5 wins against 19 losses.
- Give the wildcard entry to more deserving players than one ranked No. 487.
Venus still playing great if you see the whole match. she just unlucky which she could not finished the games. Many adventages on Venus.
She didnt play bad, but its obvious she doesnt have the stamina to be moving around for a 3 set match.
Her outfit was amazing
Whilst I support Venus’ decision to continue playing she’s nowhere near the level she once was. In her prime she was arguably the fastest most athletic, most powerful athlete the game had ever seen. Her mental fortitude and champion mentality is what set her and her sister apart. In her prime she would rival her sister and you’d marvel at the tennis that these women produced.
The fastest was of course Steffi Graf.
Venus has had time in the sun; it’s time to retire for good.
another wasted wild card...
Well done to Japan girl.
I watched the whole match and sadly Venus, despite her desire to continue playing, is just a aging shadow of her former self. It was embarrassing. She needs to join the senior events that are played and have fun there.
I want to see Iga vs Venus..
It is sad to see a formerly very good player having no life outside of tennis.
And tarnishing her legacy by this.
@@rajusaha855 Only some woke Americans would call that racist.
Hibino plays a lot like Hingis.
No serve, no power, no move. Is it a real highlight? What did I see lol…
Wow Queen Vee still playing well at the age of 45. This is amazing! She played so well after not playing for so long. Congratulations 👏🏾 ❤️ Sadly ran out of gas in that 3ed.set.
I don't think she passed first round in any tournaments in quite a few years.
. For last 5 years and WTA keeps handing her a wildcard...which is...
@@Alex-ed8vjnot true. She beat someone at the end of last year. Actually a ranked opponent
Venus is 43, Not 45
She is 43; NOT 45.
Sad to Venus playing like this way. I wish she really gain her form back soon.
Haha- Venus will probably challenge Djokovic next, and expect to beat him!🤪
This is heartbreaking to watch, Venus is a shadow of her former self 😢
It needs to stop..
She's almost 45 ffs! You venus fans are straight up deluded about her age.
At this rate Venus is either playing for her pocket or playing to tarnish her legacy! I don’t know which is worse…she needs to STOP!!!
Hibino played really well in the second set - her first serve and service returns were really strong...but I was not expecting a bagel in the third.
I thought Venus might at least hold serve for a few games but all those extended rallies eventually broke her down 😓
Venus has a mental block too because there is no way she lost 3 breaks of serve being 40-0 up.
Fault after fault while leading
Well she has a autoimmune disease that makes her tired at random times
Grandma cannot even walk anymore, forget running.
Is this for real ? If so , go Venus , you show ‘em. By the way Hibino is a lesson in GOOD manners , for anyone , anywhere.
A bit embarrassing spectacle but I understand that is good to be active. All the best Venus
Not knowing when to quit or say you know what: I’m done is stupidity and ignorance 😂.
It is sad to see experienced players keep playing while they far pass their prime time. A lot of their loss is like they dominate the 1st set using their good experience but they collapsed on 2nd set and eventually lost 3rd set by large margin.
