Is the weather actually becoming more extreme? - R. Saravanan

- Explore the differences between weather and climate - what they are, how we predict them, and what those predictions can tell us.
--
From 2016 to 2019, the world saw record-breaking heat waves, rampant wildfires, and the longest run of category 5 tropical cyclones on record. The number of extreme weather events has been increasing for the last 40 years, and current predictions suggest that trend will continue. So, is the increase in extreme weather due to random chance, or changing climate? R. Saravanan investigates.

Accurate. You would know this already but, all the different types of people in our society live in separate internet bubbles. One sect doesn't know what information others are feeding on.

Renewable energy is more harmful to the environment than it does good
@Sally Hope there are some studies that suggest that solar panels aren’t efficient enough to generate less net carbon emissions than when they are manufactured, especially in China. They also potentially hurt the earth through our mining and materials productions needed to make them. Wind is also inefficient and potentially harmful to ecosystems because birds hit them . Water is really going nowhere from what I can see and geothermal hasn’t been effective. However nuclear fission power produces much less carbon and the waste can be safely stored. Plus many countries are trying to be the first to make effective fusion reactors. So that is our best option.
@Hrishik Raj oh I know that everything has its ups and downs. I’m just saying some are better than others. Also fusion may be no easy goal but it also will be a gold mine for the energy industry and that’s why people are investing so much money into it. I also mentioned nuclear fission for a reason because I believe that’s our best option right now considering how much we’ve advanced when handling that type of waste.
@@hrishikraj9689 says who? God? Super critical pulverized coal boilers are just as necessary as ever. What are they using to generate power on a cargo vessel? What about it Siberia. Are there a lot of wind and solar operations in Siberia and anartica or maybe it’s fuel oil and coal. Only a moron would invest in the green new deal and kill off fossil fuels or a eugenicist. What kind of power do they use to harvest our crops. The only answer is diversity. You’re programmed bud.

Amazing animations + narration😍 Ted-Ed Take a bow .🙏
Humans ignore dangours to humanity till it happens in front of them
Eg: COVID
then the president blames it on another country for not enforcing safety measures 😓
Humans will ignore it if the problem slaps them in the face. Eg unfortunately COVID as well
implying covid is a danger to humanity?
funkydiscogod it kills people doesn’t it? Shouldn’t be political. Nobody says cardiovascular disease or cancer are not dangers to humans because only a fraction of people die from them each year
And that is why I believe we are screwed.
The animation is smooth and the voice is soothing. Explanation is simple and clear. Great Job Ted Ed.
The animation in this video is gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful!

This is the best video on climate change that I have ever seen in my life
I so love the animation, and the paper-crumpled effect
I wish we could put back those trees in the way it is shown in the animation...
Some simple things we can all do in everyday life:
- Reduce your consuption of meat and dairy products
- Prefer walking, bicycling and public transport
- Save energy: take shorter showers, turn off lighting and electonics you don't need at the moment
- Repair stuff, instead of buying new immediately
- Recycle and only buy what you need
...and much more...
I know not everyone can do everything, but most of these things are simple, and the cumulative effect of a lot of people doing small things will have a real effect on slowing down climate change. Also, I've noticed that showing example really makes people change their ways. I've definitely made lasting changes hearing what others are doing. We're pack animals and we wish to do what others do.
We humans need a paradigm shift. If we play our cards right though, we'll eventually find solutuions, fix this mess and have a lush and clean planet where all the latitudes are habitable.

Fascinating that we still have to prove this to people.
When they want to tax Americans more and while hindering our grow for other countries that will not pay... follow the money. Al Gore didn't go poor with his snake oil that has been debunked.
It’s a very bad predicament right now. People are out there trying to pull it together. Very little can be done for my location, but good luck to all - please stay safe!
