I watched your whole “Zyla series”, and I think it will be very helpful for people to find their colors and archetype and style for sure :) It even gave me inspiration to try to experiment more and try out more things and learn more about what suits me. I think your sunset summer palette and style suits you so perfectly, and your voice has that soothing and relaxed feel that Summer people tend to have 😌

Mars, thanks so much for explaining your DIY Zyla experience and Zyla appointment. How wonderful you came so close in DIY. I was a fan of your style and colour choices. As you know I am not a woman of colour but do ‘fit’ in a neutral space that is deeper and only have subtle differences between my hair, eyes and skin - all versions of ash brown. To be totally honest it’s been very frustrating finding my true colours. So after watching your video I have renewed my enthusiasm to keep searching. Paint swatch land here I come. Also going to avoid pastels and focus on finding Dramatic and Energy. I have found My Romantic and B2. Fairly sure my B1 is a charcoal with brown/blue leanings. Not sure why I wouldn’t be a Sunset Summer? Do I have a ‘witchy’ quality about me - dark ethereal is nicer? I consider myself a mysterious dark mermaid. I tried to join IS as one, lol. They said I was too earthy - they don’t know me I’m an Aquarian, not earthy in my outlook. I’m still part of the group because I enjoy the shapes of the dresses they wear. My favourite time of day is sunset and early evening I feel relaxed and happiest. Your description of walking into a particular setting was very insightful. I have shiny straight hair - no curl. So perhaps I need some shine in my fabrics and metals. My eyes are very muted and soft though. My lips are not large but not small either. There is a bluntness about me. Not sharp but not round either. I have tiny features- so perhaps smaller patterns that are deep are better. I like big watercolour patterns though. I am experimenting more with more subtle pattern combinations and with fabrics that reflect light. I also look better in sheer fabrics I have recently discovered. Too heavy weigh me down a bit and I look less vertical - they add weight to my frame. I think my essence is a dusty old fashion rose that is neither cool or warm - but both.

Yes, I would say to focus on colors with the same properties as the ones you’ve already found! Look for colors that go well with them and see where it takes you.
I actually feel like IS is pretty similar to SS when it comes to the lines and some fabrics. The major difference, besides the colors of course, seems to be the level of shine. IS has, well, some iridescence to it. SS has contrasts of light and dark, but not in a “shiny” way, so it looks more earthy. However, I love the idea of a dark mermaid for Sunset Summer. For example, when I wear a crushed velvet maxi skirt, I feel like it gives mermaid vibes! SS also gets recs for long hair a lot - mermaid-y, as well.
David told me that with my fabrics, I should always look for ones that have that light and dark look to them. Not high contrast like black and white in the same pattern, but a textured fabric where parts of it are shadowy and some are lighter. He also said I do better in many layers of lighter fabric, rather than one heavy fabric. Maybe that info helps you to know - it seems like we’re similar in that way.
