#radiology #radiologist #xraytechnician
I’m a senior in HS and I’ve decided I want to become an X-ray technologist it seems fun
smart man
Thank you Dr Webb for FINALLY mentioning Radiology Techs! I have been a Rad/Mamm/CT Tech for over 20 years. Its nice that you recognize us for what we do as we are a critical and instrumental in helping dr’s diagnose their patients. 😁
hello, which books you could recommend me since I'm starting RT in January 2020 (branch to MRI)
thanks
It's Radiologic Technologist! We are not Technichians!!!
It's the same job, and the salary is not that different
Technicians fix stuff what do x-ray techs fix?
Mind HunTer WRONG
Thats rite haha
@@mindhunter8772 definitely not the same job.
Thx for the vid . I am a 32 yr who failed in high school and I decided to get my GED. I am 30% finished Nd I have to decide what career I want to pursue. I wasted too much time. Vids like this hold a lot of value. Thx for the vid I really needed this!
32 is still young man... Trust me if you end up going to Rad Tech school, there's a strong possibility you will not be the oldest in there... I'm 32 as well, I'm currently in Massage Therapy school and I'm far from the oldest... My wife just graduated from Surgical Tech school at 30 and she was actually one of the youngest students in the class... So my point is you have a lot of time to decide what you want to do.
Literally going through the same
We on the same boat mate
@@RobotRebelCinema Thank you for the kind words! God bless you!
keep going dude
I do this job in the army reserve and went to college to go to school for this everything was easy
How long did it take you to complete your school for x ray technologist ?

Hello dear Dr. Webb. Could you tell us about russians who became a doctors? this is very important for me as a motivation. Thank you :) and best regards from Russia!
I dont know any Russians who have become doctors but If I ever meet one, will def let you know!
I have a question for anyone in this field. How much standing, walking and moving about in a hospital setting do rad tech do in a typical shift? I'd like to keep my brain as well as my body healthy in a job that I will doing as a career.
A LOT. Depends on if you’re working an 8, 10 or 12 hour shift. I’d say on avg, standing/walking at minimum 80-90% of the shift. Some hospitals have 16 hour shifts too, those can be brutal if doing multiple in a row. X-ray techs work in the ED (emergency department), X-ray inpatients in the X-ray dept, go to patient rooms to take X-rays with the portable machine, X-ray outpatients, go to the OR (operating room), do fluoroscopy (“live” X-ray) exams, etc and sometimes all in one day. You are servicing the entire hospital; some things are pre-scheduled, and for other exam you’re on-call (STAT chest X-rays post procedures, ie, post open heart surgeries). Basically, you’re like a ping-pong. Yes, you get to sit down in between, or to do paperwork after an exam, but depending on the size of the hospital and the type of services provided, you’re on your feet ALL day. Especially in the OR-you can be standing in the same room, in the same space for hours at a time. It helps to be physically fit, esp considering the movement of large equipment and difficult patients; but I’ve done the job while both skinny and fat-only difference for me, more sweating (and swearing) while fat. But honestly, working in a hospital setting is physically demanding, more than I imagined, and being physically fit is def a benefit. I’d get new shoes every few months, and sometimes I would switch between pairs during my workday bc my feet would hurt after the 6-7 hours mark no matter what I was wearing. If I was standing more (during my OR rotations/days) I wore clogs, but if I was walking more (portable X-ray rotation) I wore Adidas boost (splurged and got $200 shoes bc they were worth it!). For ref, I currently work in an orthopedic clinic (for the last 6 mo) so the environment is slower paced and the patients are easier to move and xray-my feet/legs don’t hurt daily anymore.
@@jppppppppp thank you for this insightful answer! I am debating whether to start my studies and this was so much great information, thank you
@@jpppppppppDang I’ve been considering becoming an x-ray technician or getting into software development and I think your answer solidified my choice…going to learn to code lol. Thanks for the insight.
@@ceeeceee8753yo yo😅😅😅😅😅😅 🤘🏾. I swear to God I had those two choices in mind. I started a pre code bootcamp. 😢 But was disappointed to see how competitive it is in software engineering. I hear many stories of graduates applying to 200 or more job openings and not getting a call back. Plus, these companies are mostly looking for senior engineers with over five years of experience. My next option was the medical field, which is always in demand. I am considering x-ray technician. The pay is not as much as a senior software engineer. And you be on your feet all day. 🙄. So I'm still trying to find my calling. FYI I have a master's and work in corporate America but didn't theme for fulfilled. So that's my journey so far
@@ceeeceee8753 before you learn to code just look on RUclips of how difficult it is getting your first job in that field.
Hey Dr.Webb, I plan on becoming a spine surgeon, can you make a video on key differences between neurosurgery and orthopedic spine surgery? (Work-life balance, hours per week, residency curriculum, and attending salary) Please and thank you!
Hi,
Here you go. I hope this video helps clarify Neuro vs Ortho spine

Thanks and welcome!!
During the time you're not giving people x rays what can you do?
D - Pleasy You can clean, stock dept, chill, or help your coworkers.
40,000 is really starting pay seems kind of low isn’t it?
This video was made 5 years ago. It’s around 60k now not high but not that low
Covid made it go up. And that's just starting. It will go to with experience. One of my coworkers makes $50/hr
TECHNOLOGIST
Is it true if you work for a hospital you don't need a licensing long as you work for the hospital? To be a x-ray technician
Also, the reasons you chose ortho vs neuro please
I will look into this.
Doctor Webb, can you please do a “How To Become” a Family physician?
Good suggestion! I will look into this! I think I have someone who may be interested in doing it. Please let me know what questions you would like me to ask!

Do you need any medical experience background to get into this ?
Nope.
Repent of your sins and turn to Jesus Christ for he died for all of us while we were still sinners. He is coming back soon.
