I couldn’t believe the resistance this song got when it came out. It’s so great. MISA’s bass lines are so good and the drum parts are deceptively difficult. And the vocals are stellar.
@@jan-ovepedersen5764 She’s very blunt and willing to state her opinion on everything. Her mom is from Osaka and apparently that’s common there. Tokyo is very different. Love her.
I'm so happy that there are more people appreciating this song than I thought. This is the song that Saiki specifically requested Kanami to write a simple karaoke friendly song for change if I remember correctly because bandmaid songs are almost always vocally way too challenging for average people to sing. Yep, Saiki meant exactly what she said by "I don't give a..." . She doesn't give a fuck if people thought it just was a poppy commercial song. 🤣 (just my assumption) But me personally it still sounds bandmaid and not an "average" pop song. Thanks for the reaction! 👍😊
The hook that you are trying to think of sounds like the one in Celebration by Kool & The Gang. Older listeners like me love Band-Maid because they bring us back to the 70's 80's 90's rock pop funk grooves. Their variety keeps me from getting bored. I love this song. Check out Brand-New Road when Misa lays down a jazzy bass section in the middle of a rock song.
First, when I need a big smile and chuckle, I watch your reactions to the f bomb. It's classic. I think I've watched you at least ten times. Second, the video makes sense after a while because the song's message is to Start Over when things are bad. I love this song because it is so jazzy groovy. You can't help but move to the beat. Check out Brand New Road where there's a jazzy bass solo in the middle of a rock song!
@@TomClark-Futoura i have no clue sir.. Im just read somewhere on reddit that akane want band-maid to make a simple "karaoke song" so she can sing it on the karaoke. Cmiiw
I love Band-Maid's "Start Over" because I'm into great writing, playing and well-constructed songs. But the jewelry store ad MV... not so much. Songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile can help them more than most of their catalog to become more approachable and widely accepted by the general public. Look at the tens to hundreds of millions of views idol, hip hop and pop receive. You don't have to be hard core anything to bob and weave to a lot of these manufactured, ah... "songs?" I'm afraid the kind of songs I love, Band-Maid, The Warning and Jinjer type songs, will remain a tiny, tiny niche -- like a sea slug in the ocean of teaming pop life. BTW - Start Over sounded awesome in their online live OOJ Concert. And it gets great fan reaction as seen here in Amsterdam: :ruclips.net/video/AGyWuUm0SIA/видео.html (Fanvid thanks to Vladimir Chupin) And Thx guys for continuing to covering all things Band-Maid!
Great reaction guys, those last 2 lines we're probably the reason why I've only seen 3 reactions on this song 😆😆😆. The part that you're humming to seems to sound like Iron Eagle to me. 😆😆😆 Great work guys, love your reactions as always.
About cute and especially "innocent" girls. You gotta listen to the interview where Saiki and Miku talk about the scenes at changing room before their concerts. For example, that MISA has best body and the sexiest ass (very "slappable"), and that mostly Kanami asks for explaining the bawdy jokes that MISA tells.
MISA MISA MISA! Great Bluesy/Jazzy track shame about the MV I believe it had something to do with the song being touted as a Karaoke song as the Label they where with at the time owns a Karaoke chain
Did you forget about the "gap"? If these ladies can sing about cunnilingus like in Don't Let Me Down then they can certainly say the word fuck which means little to nothing to the average Japanese. To those who think lyrics don't matter they really do. The MV is cheesy but totally on point. If your relationship can be saved then start saving it. Otherwise...... Sacramento loves the sweetest lil "l don't give a fuck, people. OK?" Very much like Rin-ne. It's sink or swim. Shut up! Sacramento loves the gap.
I never understood the hate for this song. I've always loved it. The video didn't do it any favors I guess. They should have just left out the couple and focused on the band. Loved your reaction to the F-bomb at the end. LOL
Here’s the story I heard about this tune and I think you’ll appreciate it! This tune is a very simple tune, here’s why! First the video is a metaphor for what kanami was going thru! There was a moment where Kanami had a bit of writers block, she had a hard time coming up with compositions, I don’t know what she was going thru in her personal life but here’s the best part! The band, being amazing, gathered around Kanami and inspired her to not give up! Start over is born! At the end of the song the last line says it all! I don’t give a fuck, be born again! It’s a line that simply says I do t care what you’re going thru just move on!
Never heard this. Kanami writes a song a week, that’s not really someone who has writer’s block. What I heard is that they wanted this song to be karaoke-friendly, since Miku writes all these un-singable lines for their other songs.
Still can't warm to the video but I've loved this track ever since I first heard it - there again I've never been hung up on what Band-maid "should" play. If you accept the fact that they're five ludicrously talented musical souls, you also have to accept it's "their" music, not yours, and they'll do whatever they want. Especially if that means dropping an F Bomb at the end of an otherwise sweet sounding song!
@@powbobs Although I quite like the uncertainty of not knowing whether you're watching a couple break up or getting back together, for me it just doesn't gel with the structure of the song. I suppose it's that Saiki's delivery has a much more positive feel to it than the visuals in the video - but other opinions are equally valid!
I liked the song, though not the romantic drama video part, right from the first viewing. Just a great example of how they can play just about any style song and make it a winner. Very jazzy, which IMHO is not a bad thing at all. And yes, Saiki's last line: priceless! My favorite aspect: Misa and Akane, and, I would guess, it's Kanami tickling the ivories.

Yep. Very raunchy lyrics. Like female rapper raunchy.

Kanami playing serious jazz...and Saiki with the epic, "I Don't Give A Fuck!"

The video could be going for the "if I could turn back time" thingy. So for me, it fits fine with the song...if that's what they're aiming for.
