An important video for the golf aficionado. Before RUclips came about, Weiskopf's 1973 win almost had mystery religious mystical qualities. What a swing.

-12 in that kind of weather is incredible. Not to mention the vast differences in equipment between then and now.
For being a well-known nearly-man, Weiskopf sure got his big W in convincing fashion.

... Persimmon woods, Flashy pants,... and getting the Job Done... Olde School greatness.
    RIP Tom

Prior to my recent binge watching of all the old Masters & Open Championships. I wasn't all too familiar with Mr. Weiskopf... But in the process of watching them. And seeing the amount of runner-up finishes by Tom. I've developed a level of fondness for him. And despite my rooting interest for Jack Nicklaus. I was very pleased to see Tom Weiskopf come out on top this Open Championship! In another era he may have won a half dozen, or more Majors?! But at least he won this major at such a prestigious Open venue Royal Troon. RIP 🙏

It's a common tale in pro golf that there are good golfers and then there's GREAT golfers. Weiskopf had the tail end of Arnold Palmer and the prime of Gary Player, Lee Trevino and Jack Nicklaus to deal with. The fact he was able to win once is an accomplishment

Only saw Weiskoff play once, around 1980 at Riviera. I’m 6’4” so he was a favorite of mine. His swing was amazing to watch and god he could rip it

Probably a year earlier there I watched him hit a bucket of drivers on the range. Just astounding.

If you were to pick a golf hero out of central casting, it would be Weiskopf. He had the looks, the graceful stride, the awk shucks smile, and the most gorgeous swing. Pity this was the only one.

If he won that 75 masters he would have won to more majors no doubt! RIP TOMMY 👍⛳

In another era Mr. Weiskopf may have won a half dozen, or more majors?! Many close calls & runner-up finishes to Jack Nicklaus. Was such an amazing golfer!

Yes indeed, he had 4/5 years when he seem to be in contention for everything and in the mid 70s was the heir apparent to Nicklaus

It cannot be the official film if it says the British Open, which is no such thing.

5,500 pounds for winning The Open. How things have changed.
