I wish this show got higher than 4th. It was so amazing between the music drill and just the over wow factor. This should have gotten 3rd or higher, sorry bloo.
Thanks for posting! This show was a musical and visual masterpiece. Definitely should have won in 2015. I miss The Cadets being like this (very sad to have to say that).
All of the ingredients were there in terms of design, particularly the drill that harkened back to the evolutionary drill designs pioneered in the 80's (drill was its own development, and not solely a staging process). Personally, I think the drumline overplays (in terms of writing...just because you can doesn't mean you should every second), but that's my "old guy" ears...kudos to all the kids who pulled off this amazing show. Loved the old-school unis.
Thanks for posting! Cadets would've won in 2015 if they hadn't changed to the awful all black uniforms and killed their GE. They were winning until they did that. This was no 4th place show or corps.
The uniforms aren't really why they got 4th. Their design did not stand up to end of season judging. If they continued to develop their transitions and guard up until finals they might have been in the running. The other corps that edged them out grew up to the last minute. Unfortunately there is only so much time in a season.
HolyNameGarfieldCadetsOfBergenCounty 1934 Idk...they were on top and even won the first (maybe two?) regionals when they had bright, vibtant colors that popped. They dropped to 3rd and 4th after the blackout. Not enough color and contrast. It muted their entire visual show. It wasn't just uniforms either, they changed props and flags to bright, vibrants colors to dull, muted colors too. It was like taking a color film and making it black and white (like the contrast at the end of the original Wizard of Oz when Dorothy wakes up and it goes from vibrant color back to black and white). So yes, when you make a drastic uniform, prop, and silk change with colors that mute and jumble, that impacts effect. They didn't suddenly get worse than the 3 corps that passed them. They killed their GE by changing from the bright, vibrant colors they had almost all season to the muted black.
The uniforms 100% did hurt them. The drill got a lot dirtier (just compare this performance to the first performance in black, at Chester), and the visual impact moments were lost. I love this show. I just wish they had kept the old unis. I've heard a lot of vets from BD and Crown in 15 say that the Cadets had the most talent pound-for-pound that year. Some thought the Cadets were going to be untouchable all season. Should have been top 2.
Quyen Dang I agree 100% on this. The black unis showed a lot of visual dirt which really hurt them. Hence why BK switched to lighter colored unis in the last couple years and has helped them greatly. This show was perfect in my eyes before the change, even possibly my favorite modern Cadets show. When they switched unis, they were overthinking it. The black was supposed to make the neon colorguard costumes and flags standout more, also the 10th element on the periodic table. Lots of thought into this show but things like that were overlooked.
I remember seeing this show in Nashville that summer. The part where all the french horns are mic'd, I was looking for the performers by tracing the sound, and I ended up finding a group of speakers where the amplification was coming from. Very disappointing.
I am so lucky to have marched this beast. This show was phenomenal.
F A C T S my guy. FHNSAB

French Horns in Shostakovich’s third movement, third symphony really tore up their majestic solos that at Allentown, Pa. Kudos Cadets 😀👍

HolyNameGarfieldCadetsOfBergenCounty 1934 The different in the color of uniform doesn't effect GE. A red uniform VS a black won't change anything
