really good presentation easy to understand. Ive never worked with lime and now i have a need to on my own house repoint some of the existing lime brickwork.The only thing i,m not sure of is which sand to use.I will take a sample of lime from some of the joints and send it away to a company that will match color and they sell ready mixed hydraulic limes.I would rather mix myself.I may even have to repoint the whole house once i get familiar with the basic process....Thankyou for any advice

@@avfczoff The aggregate used for the hot mix mortar is a blend of 4mm down crushed limestone and a pit dug fine sharp sand to create a well blended, clean aggregate. This would be appropriate for narrow re-pointing joints or a plaster coat 10mm thick or less. What about adding salt in limewash?
River sand and crushed volcanic rock mixed? Will do the dry clump test and compare to the local builders' sand yards
