My mother is currently involved in a cult. It’s a super weird place to be because I can reach out and try and talk her out of it til I’m blue in the face but it doesn’t matter if she doesn’t WANT to think differently. The leaders are master manipulators who pray on vulnerable people. She got into it when my dad entered hospice and especially so after he died. It’s her whole world now, her whole core belief system. She views the world through different eyes than before, like she’s possessed. Basically all I can do is let her know I’ll be here if she ever wants to leave it all behind, but in the meantime I can’t have a relationship with her. I know she’s not in her right state of mind, I know she’s sick (they convinced her to stop her meds and it’s been a years long battle ever since) and that she doesn’t mean to hurt anyone in her attempt to soothe herself, but she’s done some truly cruel things in the name of these beliefs and the comfort they bring her. You can’t help someone who doesn’t think they need help. So I just wait in the background, hoping she’ll reach back someday.
I'm so sorry for what happened to you. I respect your decision and completely understand. I think you had the right to leave her since you shouldn't get involved with them either. I hope she'll get out of that mindset and live her life happily. RIP to your dad 🕊️

That's why charity is very encouraged and hoarding wealth excessively is frowned upon in Islam and I think in certain religions too. When you are too rich , you feel like you are untoucheable and little by little you lost morality, humanity, empathy etc. because nothing can stop you from doing evil things.

It's super creepy. I think Bette Midler is in it. It's basically about a family that moves into a new neighborhood, but steadily over time, the good things about this neighborhood start feeling too good to be true. You gotta watch it.
