As both a previous owner of several Cavaliers (Mk1, 2, & 3), and now on my third 9-5 spanning the last 19 years, your channel just gets better and better 😊 👍
A lot of people saying it would have been scrapped .. .aye, and then the owner might have spent 20-30 grand on a new car. For what? For the sake of a couple of grand of labour + parts, they'd have a virtually pristine workhorse with all the toys and 250bhp under the bonnet. People need to wake up and keep these cars on the road.
You've done a great job on this, Dougie. Saved in the nick of time from succumbing to the dreaded 'Saab Blight', by the looks of things; other 9-5s (inlcuding mine) haven't been so lucky. I hope that it has many more years ahead of it.
Great work! Didn't realise that the SAAB is very difficult to work on. Still a few these on the road in the US! Great that Vauxhall Vectra parts can be fitted to the 9 5, the Vectra being a UK EU vehicle.
I’ve never been a Vauxhall guy but love watching your videos Love your attitude to just getting stuck in I’m now getting stuck in to my ‘85 Lancia Thema loads of little jobs Keep up the inspiring work
A rose bush is a solid metal spherical bearing and is certainly not what you have here! These are regular metalastic bushes. SAABs aeros are great cars, great that you are keeping a good one on the road. Didn't see the alternator change, which is a bugger of a job.
Another great tinkering video Dougie, so glad you got the Aircon sorted. Looking forward to the Canonbawz run videos. And yes I am a Bob and Denny fan as they remind me of my two Cats!
I had to look at the whole story of your saab from start to finish as it was just one issue after the other. But you stuck at it and got it right at some expense fair enough, i am going to look at a 2006 model of the exact same car as a daily driver and i sure hope i don't have to go through the same list as you did lol. Well done on the video's to.
I had bother with my drivers side headlight being yellowy . I tried a couple of kits and gave up . Wd40 on a paper towel and it looks brand new , has to be rewiped every 3 weeks or so but hey ho 🤷♂️😂. Great video as always !
I had a 2 litre version, it used to go through petrol round town, but was incredibly fast and comfortable on a long trip. The road tax rules really killed the 95 off.
Great content Dougie, lots of detail and fault finding tips. Having the FM Tech diagnostic tool helps considerably. Great car emerging from this 😂🏴🇬🇧
Dunno if it helps but had a Ac fault which would only work/kick in on the move and was cooling fan related keep up good work always an enjoyable watch!
I was feeling your pain on last video, doing that ac pump wow. Although, that’s been beaten today by me dropping a diff and prop shaft of a Rangerover on a driveway… real gates of hell
I'm not entirely surprised that you had to drive it for the air con to start working, i was an apprentice at the main dealer back in 1997, we were replacing speedo drives to cure all kinds of random faults, rumour had it that it was to prevent them being disconnected in a bid to keep mileage down.
Another grear vid, love this SAAB series! 29:23 I belive that you should be able to tell your saab that it *doesn't* have rear parking sensors via the tech 2, which would stop the bonging whenever you go into reverse. Just a thaught that crossed my mind since you have the equipment. Nice to see the headlights are easier to remove than the 9-3 estate. You have to remove the front bumper to get them out fully! Appreciate the extra bob contend at the end! I always stick on to watch his adventures
Really enjoyed watching this as i do your previous videos . Nice car the Saab . Just one thing though , Those wind deflectors look great however they tend to let in condensation as i myself found out when i fitted them to my Vauxhall Zafira B . Like i said they do look nice , just be carefull . Stay safe looking forward to next video
I had an issue on a vw once wherenaircon would only work over 10mph, it turned out to be, there is 3 temp sensors, one was down,(it requires all 3) so it runs that as a safety default knowing that once over 10mph the condenser is being cooled.
Good to see my old Saab has a new life, i won the car from geoffbuyscars on youtube, it came with more than a few problems which i was working my way through but i had 3other projects at the time hence its trip through WB auctions..
Lacquer thinners on belt de grease cleanse. Then 303 aerospace protection jizz. Loads detailers UK and US swear by it. Never squeak again. Belt noise mouse squeak done.
SAAB is goding up in price in Sweden. All cars in the middle rangen is exporten to the east, but not SAAB. The Areos are totalt destroyed by the youth😂. No salt driven SAAB👍

That's one lucky car to have landed itself with you... Anyone else would have scrapped that after all the work it's took and the smoke from exhaust

Exactly why I am firing £3k into my Saab right now!

What is the Saab blight?
Absolute zero messing around...straight on with the jobs and a grand result......look forward to the next vid.

This Saab is going to be one amazing example when you’ve finished with it, both mechanically, and cosmetically!!.
Great results Dougie, Im a Vauxhall & SAAB man so this is absolutely made for me. Thanks for the videos!

Loving the Saab journey Dougie great content as always.
Enjoy! The effort is rewarding.
This channel deserves a lot more subscribers love the videos
Great video as usual!
Love the 9-5 Combi! So happy you saved this beast :D
Watching your videos are a pleasure. Very informative great to watch..👍🙂

Great video on the Saab and delighted you have restored vigour to the vehicle. Keep up the excellent work!
Another great episode Dougie 👍🏴
Great content Dougie, lots of detail and fault finding tips. Having the FM Tech diagnostic tool helps considerably. Great car emerging from this 😂🏴🇬🇧
Great video Scottie, never change the way you are matey.
Great video, real determination to sort out the saab
Dunno if it helps but had a Ac fault which would only work/kick in on the move and was cooling fan related keep up good work always an enjoyable watch!
Hi burt we are all amazed that you need aircon because of the heat supposed to be colder than us welsh here lol
Well in Dougie; always moving forward, making progress 💪😎
Thank god for the air con working
Grand work as always. Interesting to see the rear suspension setup on these, mine is based on the Vectra C.
I'll do a comparison video between the Vectra B and the Saab soon to show the similarities and differences
I was feeling your pain on last video, doing that ac pump wow. Although, that’s been beaten today by me dropping a diff and prop shaft of a Rangerover on a driveway… real gates of hell
Good update on saab
Cheers for bob and Danny clips think only seen 1 be4 lol
Another great video very interesting. Looking 4ward to more work on le cav . And the. Nova. 👍
Should have put some tape or at least opened bonnet when sanding headlights to protect paint work.
Another great video has always Dougie 👍
Good turn around. If you take the metal handle off and just use the black end you'll find it cleans much better/easier
Jeremy Clarkson "Speed and power fixes many problems"
Excellent update pal. Saabs are great cars. My insignia has 2.0 turbo petrol derived from Saab and they have great power.
I remember the last Saab that was brought out based on the insignia. Can’t remember the model name. Cracking car
@@danielross7221 was it 9-3 aero??? The insignia vxr had the 2.8 v6 from saab. People think general motors saved Saab. GM wanted saabs engines
@@andyfletcher7535 That’s the one, i knew someone who had one as a company car back in 2010. Apparently the company car tax was horrendous
@Dan Ross the last saabs made where stunning. GM should just let them do there own thing.
@@danielross7221 it was a 9-5, known as the 9-5NG … never released over here in estate form, though …

I was celebrating and frozen by the time I got home 😂
I am truly in the mood for a 9-5 aero. Right now 9-3 1,8t which is GREAT but the 9-5 ah. Can I have two? Lol
Good stuff again Dougie. I wonder how many Saab ignition barrels have been ruined by the owners ragging the keys out by not putting it into reverse 😂
Another grear vid, love this SAAB series!

I will have a look in the Tech II to see if I can do that
Looks like its coming on great Dougie !!
Pity they fitted these bloody plastic headlamps to our 2004 9-5’s. Never had this problem with dads 1999 2.0t which had sensible glass headlights.
Really enjoyed watching this as i do your previous videos . Nice car the Saab . I think they make a bit more wind noise around the a pillars 😂
Spotted an astra f on gumtree glasgow area. 78k n-reg 3-dr £550 if you’re on the look out
Hope it’s not the Cannon Squeaky Bawz run with that alternator Dougie !🤣 well done another great video to watch
How old is this dude, seems very knowledgeable.
I’m having a similar problem with the air conditioning in my 2004 9-5 Aero. What was it ultimately that fixed the air conditioning in your opinion?
I had an issue on a vw once wherenaircon would only work over 10mph, it turned out to be, there is 3 temp sensors, one was down,(it requires all 3) so it runs that as a safety default knowing that once over 10mph the condenser is being cooled.
Where are the 3 different sensors?
How find the time with all the trucking etc
more bob & denny please 😻
Great watching what cleaner did u use for leather
G101 from Autosmart. It cleans anything and dilutes in water
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten thank you
where did you get that headlight restoration kit Dougie? mine are atrocious and need sorting out
It's a Holt's kit Halfords or eBay will have them I got given it
Recognise that rose bush tool 😊
That one's mine yours is in stock. They don't last long with impact tools but I'm not winding those bushes out by hand it would take forever 😂
Good to see my old Saab has a new life, i won the car from geoffbuyscars on youtube, it came with more than a few problems which i was working my way through but i had 3other projects at the time hence its trip through WB auctions..
Did you give it a good bleechin along the golden mile for testing purposes lol
I know you won't reply to this Dougie, but spraying WD40 on your alternator bearings will disolve the grease old mate. Thanks for the channel.
I sprayed some grease in the end. The replacement squeaks until it warms up. I'm NOT doing that job again in a hurry so I'll live with it 😂
Have you told us the mileage on tje saab?
SAAB ❤
Who does your bodywork for you?
I am like you if it's got Aircon it WILL WORK
Lacquer thinners on belt de grease cleanse. Then 303 aerospace protection jizz. Loads detailers UK and US swear by it. Never squeak again. Belt noise mouse squeak done.
If you sand the lights down and then spray them with 2K clear coat, you won't have to polish them again for 10-20 years.
I will buy back the cd player if you dont want it 👌
the weather looks shite there
Saab vs. Dougie's toothbrush.
SAAB is goding up in price in Sweden. All cars in the middle rangen is exporten to the east, but not SAAB. The Areos are totalt destroyed by the youth😂. No salt driven SAAB👍
I would love an 80's 900!
That's a very pretty Saab. I have had Saabs in the past, Saab99 which was...a bag of sh!te, but I have driven the 9000 and loved it also the 900.
Where is the omega
At the house
Are you selling the omega or the saab 9 5
Wrong alternator for the Saab the one from the B204 is a smaller and less amp age one and won’t be able to cope with the zenons etc
5/40 oil for it
That's not correct the part numbers cross reference across all 2.0 and 2.3 turbo cars. It's a 130 amp same as what came off it.
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten okay …..
Tree rats 😂
Bob is a she, yes?
