Gin a body meet a body
    Comin thro' the rye,
Gin a body kiss a body,
    Need a body cry?
    Ilka lassie has her laddie,
    Nane, they say, ha’e I
But all the lads they smile at me,
    When comin' thro' the rye.
Gin in body meet a body
    Comin' frae the toon
Gin a body greet a body
    Nae a body frown?
    Ilka lassie has her laddie,
    Nane, they say, ha’e I
But all the lads they smile at me,
    When comin' thro' the rye.
Gin a body meet a body
    Comin' frae the glen
Gin a body greet a body,
    Need the warl' ken?
    Ilka lassie has her laddie,
    Nane, they say, ha’e I
But all the lads they smile at me,
    When comin' thro' the rye.
Among the train there is a swain,
    I dearly love mysel',
But what's his hame or what's his name,
    I donna care to tell.
    Ilka lassie has her laddie,
    Nane, they say, ha’e I
But all the lads they smile at me,
    When comin' thro' the rye.

I have no Idea why, but this song strikes a deep chord in me, so old I can't remember where it came from.

This is a poem composed by Robert Burns set to music a very long time before "Catcher in the Rye " was written.
This version, and there are many, has the original words.

This song matches the theme of the Catcher in the Rye so well.

    • @youreskimofriend2327
      @youreskimofriend2327 Год назад +2

@@notpisso8 I meant Holden Caulfield. In the book he hears the song and interprets it in his very unique way. Maybe that was not plain „wrong“ but I think it’s fair to assume whoever wrote this had something different in mind. Anyway, Holden understands the „catcher in the rye“ as someone that saves children from „coming through the rye“ which he interprets as growing up or losing their innocence. Ultimately he wishes he could have protected his brother who died of leukemia. Or something like that. Sorry I’m not explaining it very well

Sorry, but I'm not terribly impressed. Yeah, she has a pretty voice and her pitch is okay, but she has (almost) no vibrato and her timing is way off.

This comment is dripping from "I don't get it." When you cannot understand/appreciate something cause your set of criteria does not apply. Imho: Most beautiful singing ever!
