I had a similar Hofner back in the early 70s. It had double block inlays and a paisley type wallpaper glued to the body. I believe it was called a Galaxy.
What you had was a Brockade Galaxy or more specificly either a 175 or the 176 many call the 175 a Galaxy but a true Galaxy has the pick up extra selector on the horn. Hofner came up with the name Galaxy in response to Fender,s new and inferior Strat which they said was "Stratospheric" hence Hofner calling their superior guitar the Galaxy
@@fionacarstairs7326 I believe that mine was the 175. It had 3 pups, the string damper. Rotary dials below the pickups and switches above (or maybe the other way around). It also had a 6 way varitone switch.
Really like the super-clear clean sound. Thinking about a custom made guitar with Blade in the brigde and a humbucker neck. What do you think? How would they work together you think?
I have one of these although it is slightly different. It has a black headstock and lacks the string-tree bar. It has a 'normal' string-tree for the E and B strings. Mine also has large, 3-piece, block inlays instead of dots. The necks on the ones I've played, including mine, are rather small and I find them to be too cramped when compared to a standard 25.5" Fender neck. Höfner appear to have tried many variations on this platform. I have yet to see two that are exactly the same. Colours, binding, string-trees & other bits, fret markers and especially knobs and dials; they were all over the place. As evidenced by this video, they are rather versatile and nice sounding guitars.
Nice demo, I've one too from 1969-1970, same pick ups but different neck, amazing guitar, really wild. My neck is a bit twisted' I've two videos of it, but I'm a poor guitarist ;-)
Hello Mike. I bought this Blade PUs on the second market and put it in my Fender Tele. The PU really sounds killer, but there is one problem. Because of the notch the b-string is much quiter than the other strings. So to say. What is this notch good for and do you have any idea what i can do to fix the problem? Does the b-string on the höfner also sound quiter? Hope you can help me, because noone could help me so far. Thanx.
Timothy Butcher I hadn't really thought about selling it but if you wanted to make an offer you can contact me through my website drowninginguitars.com
The great thing about any Galaxy class Hofner (172/3 5/ 6/ Gagliano or Galaxy ) is the playability . Unlike the closest competitor . the Strat, the Hofner is all things where the Strat is purely for advanced lead players as you just cant strum a Strat . The silly placed volume Knob and pick up changer wont allow for novices or intermediate players . Hofners have no protruding knobs or switches and are carefully placed as to avoid being mistakenly hit whilst strumming.
please can you give this guitar to me please i dont have no money for it i dream to have a whole stack of electrics guitars i dont have money to buy one
Solid Albert tones excellent, thanks.
Great tones.....Ive a 1967 Fender Jaguar (it turns 50 this year) that gets great tones like this.
I love that smile at the end :p Great demo!
Ha! Thanks for listening!

genxtargetmarket Agreed!
Kent it could be a restauration project from someone that put a lower end hofner neck on a 176 deluxe body
Hey that kicked ass Mike
I have this same guitar in my attic. It has a white plate instead of black. Is it worth anything?
Of course it's worth something, but there are many variables that would affect the value. It could be $500 or $2500.
Looking and sounding better than any old common Strat
I don^t know, but music man stingray I or II sounding better than hofner and any old fender stratocaster))
Hello! Can somebody tell me what an original 1960's Galaxie 175 model is worth nowadays? Thanks!

Hmm, I don't know. If that were me, I'd try to adjust the bridge saddles to find some equality in sound.
amazing, realy.

I'm sorry but that's just dumb and wrong. You can strum a Strat just fine. Anyone can play a Strat - - and has.
