  • This is my "Final Reveal" video for the Airfix 1/72 Vickers Wellington B.III Kit #04001-5, original 1959 Tooling, that is my second entry into the "Bomber Command Buddy Build" being hosted by me both on here and on Facebook.
    This buddy build doesn't end until October 31st, so there's still time to join in and enter a build for a chance to win a prize!

    Nice model. I've built the kit several times over the years to stand alongside the one my father built when the the kit was released in 1959. He actually flew in them and treated the aircrew somewhat differently with the paintbrush. Whilst capturing the look of a Wimpy, it has it faults, but you paint job brings it too life.

    Enjoyed this build a lot.
    No matter the age of the kit, you certainly pull it off in the best of ways.
    Fantastic Martin!

    She looks absolutely stunning Martin. I know from experience that those old Airfix kits can be lots of work, but there is something about them that I really like. I can't wait to see what you come up with next. Have a great week mate . Cheers.

      Thanks Bryan, much appreciated! I enjoy the challenge of an old kit, every now and then...knowing that it will need some work to attempt to improve how it looks straight from the box. Have a great week, too! Cheers : )

    Well built Martin! I like the "washing effects", extra detailing of the kit was a big help too. On to the next resurrection of an ol'kit.

    Wow, an excellent build, especially considering it's such an old kit. You did a crazy amount of scratch building, and it really paid off. The final result is superb, weathered to your usual standards of perfection. It's a pity one can't see much cockpit detail, as you did a magnificent job on it and the figurines, too! Once again, the model is indistinguishable from the real McCoy, raised panel lines and all! - Trevor

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks Daniel, much appreciated. I didn't mind the extra work, I'm really enjoying scratch-building...my latest build is an old Revell De Havilland Mosquito that just had two L-shaped flat seats, an instrument panel and a joy-stick. I've scratch-built all the cockpit, including the padding for the seats. seat-belts, consoles, throttle housing, first aid box, fire extinguisher, flare racks and radio, and, the lower wings just had through holes for the wheel wells, I scratch-built complete wheel wells, modified the undercarriage to resemble the real thing and scratch-built the oil tanks that go into the wheel bays. I also scratch-built the bomb bay which includes the two large fuel tanks.
      I'm also adding electrics to illuminate all the lights and motors to drive the propellers!
      I'm really enjoying it so far!
      Cheers : )

      Thanks Anthony, much appreciated! I have a good idea for your new tooled Wellington, do the opposite to what I did with my 1959 Wellington...I tried to make it look more detailed like the new tooling, so see if you can make yours look like the 1959 Tooling!! Ha ha!! Enjoy building it mate, looks like a fabulous kit from the builds I've seen. Cheers : )

  • @JamessModellingChannel1992
    @JamessModellingChannel1992 5 лет назад +1

    For a 1959 old tooling you've done a great job, some times you need to enhance the old kits with resin and scratch built detail. That's what I do if I get an old kit.

    • @ramblers69
      @ramblers69 5 лет назад +1

      Great job Martin, who says you can't build a great model out of old tooling, :)

      Thanks James, much appreciated. Yes, in the last 4 1/2 years since I began modeling, I've enjoyed building a few old kits that I've added a lot of scratch-built details to enhance them...I like the challenge every now and then! Cheers : )

    Well built for sure. You are right those guns spoil it. Particularly the front ones. Other than that it looks great. Now you need to do the Hampden.

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  5 лет назад

      Thanks Greg, much appreciated. I won't have time to fit an Hampden in by the October 31st deadline for this build event; presently working on the WWII RAF Bomber Re-Supply set, then have to do a diorama and only 5 weeks left to go. Cheers : )

    It's funny you say that . On the instructions they have marked in green the parts you can't see in the final build and may want to leave out.

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  5 лет назад

      Ha Ha....you should do a cut-away build. Lenny Brennand completed one a few weeks ago and it looks awesome. Unfortunately, he doesn't post on his RUclips channel anymore, just Facebook, so cannot share it with you.

    • @AnthonyBrown12324
      @AnthonyBrown12324 5 лет назад +1

      Was on Facebook for a short while don't like it for so many reasons ; found it very difficult to get myself removed . As you know I am not that serious a modeller . I have been closing bomb bay doors etc . on the Lancaster and Stirling . I also have The Halifax you just finished and the Airfix Whitley and the old tool Airfix Hampden Although on the Lancaster that proved more difficult . The Wellington kit provides a closed bomb bay part though some of the bomb doors are attached to the fuselage and would need removing .

    • @InternationalBritishModeler
      @InternationalBritishModeler  5 лет назад

      Yes, Facebook can be a pain from time to time...you can come across some idiots that befriend you, but don't use their brains when they share certain posts and use certain language on your personal page that is viewed by your immediate family and friends, as well as business colleagues...but, when it happens, one can delete the post and prevent posts going directly onto ones page without it being reviewed by ones self, giving one the option to allow it to be seen or not. Then, one can always block people completely. I like to show as much detail as possible, for me, it would be sacrilegious to close a bomb bay! You haven't posted a modeling video for a while, I expect now that the colder months are coming, there might be something from you? Have a great weekend! Cheers : )
