There are people who try to do that to my wife in upstate NY because our kids don't resemble her that much. She doesn't even want to go shopping with the kids without me for that very reason. I've even seen it happen when i stepped to another aisle before. There was a woman who really tried to snatch the stroller from my wife, too. She wasn't even an employee at the store! This Karen was claiming my wife kidnapped our kids.
I marched over, snatched back the stroller, and told her if she pulled that stunt again, she'd be on the 10 o'clock news in past tense. Don't *ever* try to snatch up my kids.

Unlucky for her, most of the cops in town knew me and flat out told her the only time I would attack anyone was defending a child, an elderly person or any other person who couldn't defend themself, she was arrested and sat in jail for two months. Her husband refused to bail her out and divorced her while she was in jail. Turns out she was hitting their child as well as other childern.

When my oldest was 6 months old a customer tried to pick her up out of the cart seat. I was shopping & talking to my oldest as she sitting up in the seat of the cart. This woman came up to me. She told me how cute my oldest was & put her hands out to pick my oldest up out of the cart. I pushed the cart away & stepped in front of the woman. Asked her what she thought she was doing. Her response was "Oh come on. You know me. You've checked me out several times." I looked her up & down & said "Just because I've checked you out does NOT mean we are friends. And it does NOT mean you can just grab my baby out of my cart to hold." I walked away. Never saw that woman again.

Well.. I have something to admit.. I had just had a baby and was dealing with postpartum. It was really affecting me hormonally and I wasn't thinking clearly. So, I was sitting at a checkout and saw this woman with an adorable baby.. mommy mode turned on and I went to talk to her and coo over the baby. We talked and on instinct I reached out expecting to hold the baby. She looked at me crazy and I realized what I had done... I was so damn embarrassed. I wanted to bury myself and hide forever..
Sorry, I just really needed to share this and I felt like since your story seemed similar id just randomly tell you about it.. lol😅 also, I'm very sorry that lady felt like she could just do that and that she wasn't embarrassed! I was mortified when I did that.. 😭

For some reason the guys eyes got real large when he looked up at who she was reaching for. He started to say "OH GOD IM GOING TO DIE" and kept repeating it was he headed towards the doors.

@@daisygirl9914 I think any real parent has the same exact instinct, entertain the small folk when you see them just kinda hanging around.
Of course as a man I'm more likely to get a face full of pepper spray, mace or lead if I responded to that instinct, but I can at least say that I understand it! lol
You have every right & reason in the world to still be defensive & protective of those two little girls. Remember, no matter how old they get, they'll ALWAYS be your little girls. I've got a 25 year old daughter of my own. She is the picture in the dictionary for a Karen, sometimes, so she can drive me batty at times. Still, at the end of the day, I worry endlessly about her.
