  • Cardboard Canard Pusher based on the ExAir Ansley Peace Drone, using the Sonic Modell Skyhunter Racing box and Flite Test style folded wing. Ailerons on the main wing, elevator on the canard.
    Wing 70 x 13cm, Canard 35 x 10cm. 20mm control surfaces.
    4cm triangular tube fuselage x 70cm
    Air 40 T-motor with 6x4 prop, 15A max current.
    Flying weight 470g with 1300 3s
    CG roughly half way between the canard and the main wing

    This is lovely! Best form of recycling. RC plane manufacturers should print the cut lines directly on the inside of their packaging so you get two planes for one.

    Andrew, for the RC hobby industry at least, I think you've solved the recycling issue for Melbourne and Geelong. LOL Cardboard all the way - there's no end to what you can do with it.

    You're a pro wow! Just can't wrap my head around how easily you get things to fly.
    I have been trying myself for 3 months now to get a scratch built plane to fly but just cant! I am using thermocol and still the weight goes around 1300-1400gm and I am pretty sure a 1000kv 2212 motor with 1045 prop can't get it airborne. It's a learning curve!

      Certainly is a steep curve, bigger motor or lighter plane would do it.

    As soon as it left your hand, I could see it was a winner Andrew, well done m8.....An obvious FPV candidate for sure....Would love to see a (slightly bigger) 6mm Depron sheet version (no paper skins)...cant wait....I love Scratchbuilds, so rewarding.

    Cardboard is challenging. But what I and hopefully others would like to see is a scratch build using foam board similar to what Flitetest uses! 👍

    Your videos are awesome! Could you try shooting 4K on your hat cam, then digitally zooming a bit in post? Love the music too! I built an APD a long time ago too. I used elevons in the back, nothing up front. I like your idea of the pitching canard.

    Awesome, as always. I have been thinking of something similar except my two starting wings will be the foam that caps the top and bottom of a new TV. So I'll cut the middle out and it will be bi plane in the same configuration as this. Hopefully fly a at least a third as nice.

    Hi Andrew. Another sweet build. Can I recommend “scotch guard” to waterproof cardboard? It comes in a spray on can dries quickly and repels water completely. Great product. Happy flying.

    Wonder how this layout would work with a 'V' tail? The front is a bit prone to damage if you fly over long grass. Good fun all the same. The cost is great too. Thanks again.

    Yeah, so Andrew - you should probably just go ahead and re-name the channel, "The Bill Revenaugh Channel" since pretty much every video you post is my next "absolute favorite video of all time", lol. You are just amazing, my friend, but of course it IS getting a little boring since EVERYTHING YOU BUILD WORKS PERFECTLY ON ITS MAIDEN EVERY TIME!!!!!     You're amazing Andrew! You got me building again. Not exactly cardboard but micro drak and starting on a Savage bobber if you want the plans let me know I can send you them. I would like to see you build a Savage bobber it would be epic 🔥 and probably be done in a couple days not a couple months that it will take me lol

      @@AndrewNewton for sure I have the plans for aluminum or arrow shafts or foam board you can build it so many ways. They also have a Savage cub which is a built-up fuselage with foam board let me know I can email or Google Drive you the plans to print out. Plus it would help me with the build watching you do it lol.

I can't imagine if it had a proper airfoil it would probably be ballistic and super smooth fpv platform. Everybody's going to go green pretty soon!     I always wondered how to measure/locate the CG on a canard aircraft.
    Did you need a calculator for this like for a flying wing or is it different?
