The Price is Right - The Barker Era Double Showcase Winners (50th Anniversary Upload)

- To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first episode of The New Price is Right airing on this date 50yrs ago I've compiled every available Double Showcase Winner from the Barker Era into one video. These clips were taken from episodes recorded off VHS tape (aside from a select few) and so the quality is what you see. This may be my last upload to RUclips as I've had too many other users stealing my videos and uploading them as their own as well as others harassing me about the quality of my videos and how someone else has a much better upload than mine. Enjoy.
I love how Bob shoots his arm out and points his finger on "both!" at the winner, like an old time carny. No other hosts had that old show biz flair.

The reaction by (most) of the unsuccessful bidders is heartwarming. They truly were congratulatory to the winners.
Totally! No one sees it coming and the emotion for both contestants is genuine. 5:13 is a perfect example - she's so happy for her!
5:13 was my favorite by far. So classy
I honestly believe most people would, especially if they overbid or grossly underbid. The one in 5:13 was cool bc a lot was unpacked there with one tiny clip - we know everyone in the room thought she overbid.

Sadly Bob did not make it to 100. Thankfully we had him for 35 years and all these episodes we can watch and relive.
Never before cried as a child of the 80s while watching this game show. Now, my eyes are pink and my nose is stuffed due to these contestants wailing with elation after their wins. I love it☺️

An awesome way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Price.
I am not convinced half of these people realized they won both showcases as they were leaping for joy and taking off before Bob even confirmed it.
That was an awesome collection of past double showcase winners from the Barker Era. Barker had over 100 winners that won both showcases in his 35 years hosting the show.
Thanks for sharing the DSW from the Barker era . When I was growing up and watched the original episodes I would get excited with the contestants. 😊

I love how varied the responses are. Some contenstants are just like, "Hey---cool, how about that" and others flip their shit lol I love when people seem genuinely excited for their win

If you stop and think, considering the length of the vid, this happened more often than I thought.
I remember some of these. I’ll never get tired of seeing people win.
I cannot imagine being $30 off the retail price, thinking "I just won BOTH SHOWCASE'S, only to be bested by ONE friggin' DOLLAR!
Trailblazer, you did the LAWD'S work with this video! I just wish they had the $1 win from 1980 on RUclips. It's on the TPIR Fandom page for DSWs. They won right after Sabrina with her DSW
The best ones were when the other contestant overbid and gives us the suspense of whether a heartbreak of a DO or the thrill of a DSW
Well you did leave one out - and it was in March 1980, a contestant bid $6,500 and was just $1 off to win the other showcase in addition to this. I still remember the episode.
There isn't any available video/picture/proof of it for me to put it in the video.
Imagine being the ONLY person in the entire history of the show to lose by $1! I hope the winner took her with her on vacation or something.

The two winners who were 29 and 30 dollars from their showcases should have been dsws
The $29 was but not the $30 as the rules state the one who is closer to the ARP of their own Showcase wins (or in this case both)
“If you are the winner and you are less than $100 away (at the time, “$250 or less away” in the modern area) from the retail price of your own showcase, you win both showcases!”
Key phrase: “If you are the winner”
So the only way you’re getting two double showcase winners in one show is if there’s a tie within DSW range.
The most satisfying DSW was Patricia's by far because everyone in the audience thought she overbid and her opponent bid $1 and she made fools out of everyone.
I had to replay this to 2✔the 3rd 1. So the 1st lady on the right got w/in $30 & LOST because the 2nd lady was 1 BUCK CLOSER. That's mind-boggling. I always wondered what would happen if 2 contestants tied in the Showcase Showdown.
P.S. RIP Bob. You can now join Johnny Olsen & Rod Roddy in Game Show heaven.

It is amazing to see the despair on most of the double showcase winners because they were afraid they were over, and the sheer excitement of the realization of their Double Showcase Win!

Thanks! The majority are from my own TPIR episode library but there are still lots out there that are undocumented and/or without video/picture. For instance Season 7 has one DSW known and only a small handful of episodes are available.
Question: How many DSW's were there during the Barker Era?
It's inconclusive. There is a lot of missing data. All the available data for DSWs are compiled into this video.
Has a losing contestant ever been in the DSW range him/herself? (In that case, both contestants were in the range)

Hey, trailblazer. It's good to see you back, but do you know if you plan on uploading any more episodes of Price is Right as well as putting some of your double showcase wins back up or what do you see happening?
Probably not. xXGamerDudeXx13 downloaded and reuploaded all my dsw videos to their channel as their own and game show flashback uploads better quality versions of episodes I've already posted and as a result get harassed for the lower quality ones I have.
