It's funny, the point of this commercial was to show how not everything you see on TV is real, but everyone I know who's seen this commercial secretly hopes to uncover a house hippo one day lol.

Firstly, I grew up in Canada with this commercial too, and I have no idea how anyone could have missed the ending bit and still believed in them by the end.
Secondly, this should be mandatory to watch once annually to gain continued access to the internet.

What is the creepy sound at the end while the lady is delivering the message of the ad? That is scary.

O.O I didn't notice it until I read your comment. Sounds like either some African tribal music that was supposed to come from the hippo documentary or some freaky subliminal messaging. Would be interesting if someone isolated the sound.

Absolutely clever! What starts as a clever documentary short turns out to be a great lessons-learnt PSA ever to be shown on Canadian TV. Man, I wish they did the same back there in Australia where I live. XD

The funny thing is that in today's internet culture, there are people that will believe just about anything if there's an accompanying video.
More people need to watch this and understand what they're trying to say.

+Jonathan Bullas This ad (and other "Concerned Children's Advertisers" ads) was briefly played on children's programming in other countries outside of Canada, including the U.K. and the U.S. so you may have seen it during that time. Also there are Canadian channels that play around the world that are included in some cable packages and you could have possibly seen this on one of those channels. That may explain it. :)
