I came across a realistic little Hippo figure on amazon. I bought it and now we take turns hiding it around the house. Whoever finds our little house Hippo has to hide it in a new location. You never know where the little guy will turn up. In a cupboard, in the fridge, behind some cups, on the mantle, when you're least expecting it, Boom house Hippo. We have our very own little house Hippo!

This ad is 16 years old. It is a mainstay of Canadian life. So many people remember it and love it. You can actually buy kits online to make your own house hippo. It is something we treasure and love to share. Part of our Canadian identity.
This ad is actually 24 years old. This RUclips video was uploaded in 2006, but the TV spot was first broadcast in 1999. Nevertheless, I live abroad now and I love showing people this commercial. It is one of the things that makes me proud of being Canadian.

Also there are Canadian channels that play around the world that are included in some cable packages and you could have possibly seen this on one of those channels. That may explain it. :)
